Happy New Year to everyone. I don't really have a message other than gratitude. Thank you for being along for the ride even if I've produced nothing as of late. Hopefully 2025 I'll release the civilian car project but I don't foresee any updates to playable vehicles. I've kind of run out of ideas. Anything that we add now (apart from helicopters) is just another variation or a vehicle which serves no purpose ingame. I'll consider my options but right now I'm thinking of a break from modding this new year. I'll come back when I have more motivation, time and ideas. I'll still keep to my promises no matter how late they come, at least.10 points

Alright besties. We're moving again. After a long long time of wading and wallowing in a lake of indeceison, my ass has been whooped into shape and some meaningful progress has been made with the team. We finally decided on a map area! 1:1 maps are hard but composite maps are hard too. After flip flopping between a dozen different ideas since the thread began, we finally decided to create a fictionalized, scaled, representation of the northeast section of Harlem, centering around the NYPD's 25th Precinct. By finally finding an area to focus on, we've unjammed the creative block we've all been suffering by trying to focus on so much to make. Now, we have specific, clear goals for what we're including, and with that we can move forward at an accelerated pace. So, to contradict my previous statement, expect some more screenshots and overall a lot more activity on the thread.9 points

I have very good news. The mysterious LAFD Ford Aerostar van has been found. Facebook retirees claim it is an EMS Supervisor vehicle. It shall be added to the mod. Thank you Sandra Lee.9 points

Spend as much time as you want outside this summer, you won't miss anything from us. We're a group of incredibly busy perfectionists. We work slowly and second-guess ourselves constantly. Progress and teasers will drop throughout the summer as often as I'm reminded to try and work on something.8 points

I don't really know what I'm doing anymore. I'm procrastinating the release of the mod, by making even more content for it. I'm trying to find motivation to actually model the remaining NPC passenger cars. In the mean time, these completed truck models will have to be settle? Have I sent these before? Maybe I did already. This is all I could come up with, in the last few months. After some consultation with GTA modders, I am happy to announce the confirmation of an Airport PD Caprice, a 1992. This is the best we can find. I am hopeful for a better picture to be found someday. Who knows what else is out there.7 points

Surprise, It's still going! Since my last development photo I built a new computer at the start of 2022 which didn't have a drive to install the disk version of EM4 so it was only until recently I bought an external one to install it. I come back with a shot from the map which shows an electricity substation along with a construction site behind and more New York housing.7 points

It's been a long time coming. I've wanted this for a while and I finally have the mental fortitude to actually make it. I'm looking forward to when I'm able to put the equipment and paint on this thing. It's gonna be so rad.6 points

Thank you everyone. Really appreciate the greetings. Just finishing up the last 10 or so civilian vehicles that need to be modelled. I hope to have results in a few more months. This will be the last big update to the mod. I don't have much left in me but I am having fun at least.6 points

Hey, just wondering since it's been a long while since anything has been posted or said, what's the status looking like? What still needs to be finished? Is there anything new? Have the creators been busy? Has this project gone dormant? There's no spite behind this message, just genuine curiosity. I've been following this project since it started and I think I speak for just about everyone when I say that I would absolutely love this mod to come out one day, this is by far the greatest modification the EM4 community has ever seen- It would be terrible to see it fall short. Best of luck!2 points

Download works fine. Not broken.(11/27/2014) For those of you who enjoy playing this game and using all the mods created by many other cool people on this forum. Here's yet another change you can make to the regular version of the EM4/911 FR(not the Deluxe version). I have enjoyed this game immensely and have really appreciated the mods created by others but I really couldn't get into the cartoonish supervisor who dispatched the calls for us to send units to. So, I decided to make a few changes to the "Supervisor" to suit my liking and hopefully add more Los Angeles-style realism to the game. So I have made it available for your enjoyment too. I listened to everyone's suggestions and recommendations and came up with second or enhanced version of the supervisor Video/Audio. I hope you like it. The changes:- Replaced the original British supervisor video with various dispatchers representative of Los Angeles (e.g. various people, video clips from 911 dispatch centers, ringing phones sound affects, etc)- I cleaned up the audio quality of the communications.- Included actual engine company names.- Updated a few radio codes used in the Los Angeles area Engine - fire engineSquad - squad truckSpecial Ops - USARRescue - ambulanceMCU - mass casualty unitRP - reporting party (civilian making the 911 call) Code 37 - stolen vehicle415 - public disturbance451 - arson488 - petty theft211 - robbery240 - assault How to install itThe files need to be copied into the Data/Lang/us/supervisor folder. It will overwrite the other files. Or you can simply just remove the original files, back them up and add the new ones. That's it. (All you're essentially doing is copying all my video files to that folder in the path mentioned above.) I used Premiere Elements to change the audio and video. I'm not sure how you would do this in any other DVD or video authoring application. File Specs:Video: 160x128 (so that it will fit inside the little screen that used to show the supervisor)Video format: MPG 1Audio: MPEG 1 Layer II, mono Additional Notes:It is also worth noting that this "Supervisor Mod" simulates Dispatch for the City of Los Angeles and technically not a Mod by the usual definition because the change affects the Freeplay section of the game including other installed Mods. So, instead of hearing and seeing the British guy, you'll experience a more realistic Los Angeles style dispatcher with background noise, phones ringing, and an American dispatcher. But, people seem to like it and request a version for the Deluxe EM4 which may come at a later point in time... This "modification" only applies to the EM4/911 First Responder version and NOT the Deluxe version. I'm not very good at this and I'm not sure if everyone will be satisfied (I'm not perfect) but hopefully you will like it and it will make your play more enjoyable. The files are compressed using the standard Windows Compression program. You just need to unzip them. PERMISSION: Feel free to use this in your mod if you wish. The only thing I ask is that you give props to whom it's due, namely me (Kareem).2 points -

After almost 3 years of modding, Squad 55 has finally decided to release our mod to the public. This mod has been based off of the LA 2.1 mod and has had hundreds of hours of additional changes and improvements. From map texture and layout, to the addition of new units and amazing lighting, functioning hospital, "code 2" scripts, customized stations with personnel area, there have been so many changes that it really is it's own mod. We decided to release this mod to the public for several reasons. We'd like to share Harbor City with the public and people who don't have the time to join a clan. We want to show everyone what our clan has to offer. If you enjoy playing this mod in single player, we think you'll enjoy the multiplayer experience even more. Of course there is no better place to play fun, realistic, multiplayer games then with the clan that brought you the mod. Visit www.squad55.com and sign up. You'll be on your way to joining the longest running, and biggest emergency 4 clan around.2 points -

This utility allows you to pack/unpack .v3o, .dds, and .script files both individually and in bulk. What does it do exactly? Well, this utility makes packing/unpacking files in emergency 4 much faster. Previously, in order to pack or unpack a file, you had to launch the editor and unpack each file individually. It was a time consuming process. Additionally, Emergency 4 supports the compression ("packing") of .dds texture files and .script files. To pack these files in the editor, you would have to change their extension to .v3o, then use the editor to pack them, and then change the extension from .v3o to whatever type of file it was to begin with. This was an even more annoying process. This utility allows you to pack or unpack individual files and entire folder and subfolders. What used to take forever, now takes a matter of seconds. What is Packing and what is it good for? Packing a file takes the contents of a file and compresses it using a compression algorithm to produce a file which is smaller and uses less space on your hard drive. The Los Angeles Mod v2.1, when completely unpacked, takes up approximately 400MB of space on disk. When completely packed (all .v3o, .dds, and .script packed), the mod only consumes about 310MB which is about a 24% reduction in file size. This test is not to say all uses will result in a space savings of 24%, however significant savings can be seen especially in modification that use high resolution models, textures, or are script heavy. So Packing files saves me disk space. What's the trade off? The trade off is definitely in initial mod loading time. If you start your computer and launch an Emergency 4 Modification, you will notice that it always takes up to twice as long to load a mod the first time. With a fully packed Los Angeles Mod, it took approximately 22% longer to load the fully packed version than it did to load the fully unpacked version (an average of 3 trials was used). The time it took to load Freeplay on a fully packed Los Angeles Mod v2.1 Mod was also effected and found to load 32% slower than a fully unpacked version. So packing my files saves disk space but also makes my game load slower...lame! This is an overly simplified view of the situation. In testing with the Los Angeles Mod v2.1, only the FIRST LOAD of the modification was effected. Thanks to caching, all subsequent loads of the modification and loads into free play saw no significant difference in time between the fully packed mod and the fully unpacked version. Plus, a difference of 32% in loading freeplay may not be all that significant for your system. In my case, that 32% difference between freeplay load times was a matter of 12 seconds. However since load times are relative to each individual's hardware, that 32% may be more significant. (ie. If it takes you 3 minutes to load a mod, that 32% could mean it could take up to an additional minute to load). The decision is yours to weigh. Okay, enough talk and stats and junk...how do I use the darn thing? I've made a whole video on how to use it. This is a command line utility! It must be run through the command prompt! If your game is installed in your Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder, you MUST run your command prompt as administrator! How to pack individual files: > em4packer -pack "C:\path\to\file.v3o" "C:\path\to\file2.dds" ...-or-> em4packer -pack file1.v3o myscript.script "My Model 1.v3o" ...*Spaces are considered separators between arguments. If your file name or path to your file name has ANY SPACES in it, you need to surround it with double quotes ". To unpack an individual file, the command is the same as above except for the changing of the "-pack" for a "-unpack". > em4packer -unpack "C:\path\to\file.v3o" "C:\path\to\file2.dds" ...-or-> em4packer -unpack file1.v3o myscript.script "My Model 1.v3o" ... To pack ALL selected files within a folder (including all sub-folders) the commands are a bit different. > em4packer -dir -pack -files=v3o,dds,script "C:\path\to\em4\mods\mymod"-or-> em4packer -dir -unpack -files=v3o "C:\path\to\em4\mods\mymod" "-dir" tells the packer that we are in directory packing mode not individual file packing mode. "-pack" states that we want to pack the files. To unpack the files, used "-unpack" instead. "-files=" tells which kind of files we want to process. You can select any combination of v3o, dds, and script separated by commas NO SPACES. That's it! I hope you guys enjoy it. Let me know if there are any bugs or if you know any improvements. This utility requires that you have Java 6 or greater installed on your PC. It will not work without Java. DISCLAIMER: NEVER USE THIS UTILITY ON YOUR ONE AND ONLY COPY OF SOMETHING. A BUG COULD DESTROY YOUR FILE, HOWEVER IT IS UNLIKELY. WHY RUN THE RISK?1 point
