  1. Alright besties. We're moving again. After a long long time of wading and wallowing in a lake of indeceison, my ass has been whooped into shape and some meaningful progress has been made with the team. We finally decided on a map area! 1:1 maps are hard but composite maps are hard too. After flip flopping between a dozen different ideas since the thread began, we finally decided to create a fictionalized, scaled, representation of the northeast section of Harlem, centering around the NYPD's 25th Precinct. By finally finding an area to focus on, we've unjammed the creative block we've all been suffering by trying to focus on so much to make. Now, we have specific, clear goals for what we're including, and with that we can move forward at an accelerated pace. So, to contradict my previous statement, expect some more screenshots and overall a lot more activity on the thread.

Progress and teasers will drop throughout the summer as often as I'm reminded to try and work on something.

  4. I don't really know what I'm doing anymore. I'm procrastinating the release of the mod, by making even more content for it. I'm trying to find motivation to actually model the remaining NPC passenger cars. In the mean time, these completed truck models will have to be settle? Have I sent these before? Maybe I did already. This is all I could come up with, in the last few months. After some consultation with GTA modders, I am happy to announce the confirmation of an Airport PD Caprice, a 1992. This is the best we can find. I am hopeful for a better picture to be found someday. Who knows what else is out there.

  14. The mod is done. It just needs bug fixes and it's been over a year. No disrespect to any modders here but they killed this community by not releasing projects and giving false hope. Had the modders released projects, or at least issued bug fixes in this case, people would have had a reason to stick around. Instead we have things like the NY Mod that was teased for like 10 years and never saw the light of day. Even if it does get released tomorrow, it will never see the audience it would have seen.

  18. Oh trust me, I get the growing up part. I don't have the free time I once did. However, the few remaining projects tend to have like 5 very accomplished devs working in Collab. They post an update once in a blue moon basically just to tease us of projects that will just waste away and never get to be enjoyed by the actual community. Hell I bet we see GTA6 released before we even see just a bug fix patch for Montana Mod 2.5 2.5 years after the release of 2.5(not the original although that would be nice too). How was the core fanbase alienated? I'd say we are the main ones breathing life support in to this forum. And yes forums have being more and more obsolete but check out some of the GTA mod forums. More then alive and well. Even some of the Sim City communities or Cities XL forums are absolutely thriving still.

  22. Hey, just wondering since it's been a long while since anything has been posted or said, what's the status looking like? What still needs to be finished? Is there anything new? Have the creators been busy? Has this project gone dormant? There's no spite behind this message, just genuine curiosity. I've been following this project since it started and I think I speak for just about everyone when I say that I would absolutely love this mod to come out one day, this is by far the greatest modification the EM4 community has ever seen- It would be terrible to see it fall short.     Download works fine. Not broken.(11/27/2014) For those of you who enjoy playing this game and using all the mods created by many other cool people on this forum. Here's yet another change you can make to the regular version of the EM4/911 FR(not the Deluxe version). I have enjoyed this game immensely and have really appreciated the mods created by others but I really couldn't get into the cartoonish supervisor who dispatched the calls for us to send units to. So, I decided to make a few changes to the "Supervisor" to suit my liking and hopefully add more Los Angeles-style realism to the game. So I have made it available for your enjoyment too. I listened to everyone's suggestions and recommendations and came up with second or enhanced version of the supervisor Video/Audio. I hope you like it. The changes:- Replaced the original British supervisor video with various dispatchers representative of Los Angeles (e.g. various people, video clips from 911 dispatch centers, ringing phones sound affects, etc)- I cleaned up the audio quality of the communications.- Included actual engine company names.- Updated a few radio codes used in the Los Angeles area Engine - fire engineSquad - squad truckSpecial Ops - USARRescue - ambulanceMCU - mass casualty unitRP - reporting party (civilian making the 911 call) Code 37 - stolen vehicle415 - public disturbance451 - arson488 - petty theft211 - robbery240 - assault How to install itThe files need to be copied into the Data/Lang/us/supervisor folder. It will overwrite the other files. Or you can simply just remove the original files, back them up and add the new ones. That's it. (All you're essentially doing is copying all my video files to that folder in the path mentioned above.) I used Premiere Elements to change the audio and video. I'm not sure how you would do this in any other DVD or video authoring application. File Specs:Video: 160x128 (so that it will fit inside the little screen that used to show the supervisor)Video format: MPG 1Audio: MPEG 1 Layer II, mono Additional Notes:It is also worth noting that this "Supervisor Mod" simulates Dispatch for the City of Los Angeles and technically not a Mod by the usual definition because the change affects the Freeplay section of the game including other installed Mods. So, instead of hearing and seeing the British guy, you'll experience a more realistic Los Angeles style dispatcher with background noise, phones ringing, and an American dispatcher. But, people seem to like it and request a version for the Deluxe EM4 which may come at a later point in time... This "modification" only applies to the EM4/911 First Responder version and NOT the Deluxe version. I'm not very good at this and I'm not sure if everyone will be satisfied (I'm not perfect) but hopefully you will like it and it will make your play more enjoyable. The files are compressed using the standard Windows Compression program. You just need to unzip them. PERMISSION: Feel free to use this in your mod if you wish. The only thing I ask is that you give props to whom it's due, namely me (Kareem).

  30. Hello, its been awhile, as some of you may know, a few years back, (2-3 I don't remember) I did an English translation of the RTS mod. Here is another update for it, I'd say its almost 99.9% perfect. If you find anything that needs fixed please email me at BrianD90@live.com or message me on here. The only things I cannot to find to translate is the text that scrolls in the top when someone dies reporting the time of death and after you take someone to the hospital when it shows what you've done right or wrong across the top, anyone know where I can find this text? Once I find this text, I'll find and correct any remaining errors and release a final version (2.0) I'll include a drug guide with the final version if it has enough support so please let me know!!! Also, if I can get permission from the RTS team I may also replace the default ambulances and fly car with American units, and as to not represent a single US city, I may just go with a nationwide private service skin. Since my last development photo I built a new computer at the start of 2022 which didn't have a drive to install the disk version of EM4 so it was only until recently I bought an external one to install it. I come back with a shot from the map which shows an electricity substation along with a construction site behind and more New York housing.

  34. Hello to all! I am very excited to finally showcase a project that I have been working on for a little while. Currently, I only have some models done, at least 2 for each service so far. Without further adieu, I'll get right into it... BACKGROUND: This mod will be a 1:1 replacement of vanilla Emergency 4, it is designed to be a re-imagining of the base game if it had been based in the United States. For this reason, there is no city name, and agencies will be generically referred to as "Fire Department", "EMS", "Police" and "TEC". Just like in the base game, units are not numbered. There is the fire engine, police car, ambulance, etc. I really want to recreate that vanilla game feeling, with new assets and quality of life scripts. I plan on including basic LA mod scripts like controllable lighting and sirens, chase script, and maybe a few more. Again, I want to preserve the vanilla game aspect while brining it up to current times. This project will also serve to improve my modding skills in the hopes of me carrying out more complicated projects in the future. MAP: Keeping in touch with the base game, I plan on utilizing the vanilla deluxe map. I have a plethora of Americanized changes that I want to make to the map, but those will come in the future. Do not expect a brand new map, as that is not the point of this. THE FUTURE: With the core set of vehicles done, my next steps will be to get what I have into the game, ensure it all functions well, and then continue working on models. Once models are done, map modifications will be made and script implementation will occur, which will hopefully lead up to a release. The main part everyone wants to know about... As with other content creators, making mods for this game is not my #1 priority in life. I live a busy life, and this is a hobby for me. I do not have a release date or window, it may be a year, who knows. I still have lots to learn, but I hope you all will join me along this for this journey. EM4 has been a part of my life for probably a decade now, and I am glad to contribute to the community in any way that I can. Just please be mindful that I am busy, I play other games, do things in life outside of this, and I do this for fun. It will come out when it comes out, and for now I can give you this eye candy.   38. As Emergency gets older, newer games are coming out that allow players to play in emergency services. While we still will feature Emergency games and Firefighter Simulator: The Squad, I want to introduce Into the Flames. Available on steam, Into the Flames is a solo or multiplayer co-op game that focuses on the first person role of a firefighter. From selecting and driving multiple fire vehicles, to breaching, extinguishing and firefighting, the game is in alpha and providing regular updates. Recently they announced they would be releasing full modding support using Unreal Engine 4's SDK and will be releasing this soon. As a community built on mods for Emergency games, this seemed like a natural fit for us. The team from Into the Flames will be posting updates on modding and release contests in the main forum, however we look forward to seeing some of the mods that will come out of our community!

Beginning as an easter egg for a different project, I decided to create a full mod based on the series Hill Street Blues. Set in the fictional rust belt city of Malburn, keep a lookout for crime, fires, and sudden heart attacks with a whole new fleet of 80s units. Remember to install the patch(s) when you download! In order to Reskin a vehicle from the LA Mod you will have to "unlock" the dds file(s) that are required for the vehicle, for this example we will be asking to reskin one of the many crown victorias. In this example the CHP Vic. First you must Unlock the dds file, in order to do this you must find the dds file that you wish to alter which would be located in the following folder: Game Install\Mods\LA MOD 1.8\Models\Vehicles\03 LA Police\cv_chp.dds (some vehicles have multiple texture files) You have to rename the file to something else and change the extension from dds to v3o, this will allow the editor to unpack the file making it readable by Photoshop or a dds converter. Due to the fact that most vehicles have the same name for the Vehicle model and the dds Texture file, it is advisable to name it something such as follows: cv_chp.dds to cv_chpt.v3o Now, you need to open the editor, load the modification and then select "unpack file" again you will have to navigate to the same folder but the editor shows the folder structure a bit different: Mod:Models\Vehicles\03 LA Police\ Find your renamed dds which for the example is cv_chpt.v3o and press ok, this will unpack the file so you may edit it. Now you need to rename the file back to dds, in order for the vehicle model file to recognize the texture be sure to rename it back to what it originally was, which in this example is cv_chp.dds Once this is done you then have to either convert the dds file using a dds converter (one is available in our downloads section) or import it using Photoshop. Convert/save the image to whatever format you wish to use, .BMP, .PNG, .TGA, etc. whichever you prefer and open it in the painting application of your choosing and alter it as necessary to do whatever you wish to do to the vehicle skin. Now you have to take your texture and turn it back into the dds file for the model file which accompanies the vehicle to recognize it's new texture. Ensure that all of the dds files you have changed are in the folder where they belong and when you load the editor you should see your newly skinned vehicle there now.

    Hoppah did a fantastic job with the LAFD mod for EM4, but it still seems a little out of place. The problem is with the narrator at the beginning of each mission. Instead of a narration on how to complete the mission, what about an actual fire department dispatch, like the ones on every episode of Emergency! It took me a while, but I have recorded and put together twenty separate dispatches for every mission in EM4. Just download the file and unzip it, then read the ReadMe text for instructions on installing the files, which is super easy. (I still can’t figure out how to add dispatches for Hoppah’s 10 custom missions; if anyone knows how, let me know and I’ll make some more) Just like in Emergency!, I used the original LA County Fire Department SCU tones from the 1970s for every station dispatch. I know what you’re thinking. Hoppah made the LAFD mod, not the LACoFD mod. In fact at this point, an LACoFD mod does not exist. Yes, I know, but I figured it was close enough. I’m a die hard fan of the series, and besides, I’m familiar with the dispatches from the county, not the city. (If Code Red ever goes to DVD, then I’ll be more familiar with the city dispatches) Also, using LACo gave me more flexibility in determining the locations for each mission. I did my best to utilize real world locations in LA County and the fire stations in those areas. Please keep in mind that I have zero dispatching experience; I did this based on guesswork, examples of dispatches archived on YouTube, and what I’ve seen on TV. Any faults with procedure in these dispatches are my own. Also, I realize that I do not have the quality of voice that Sam Lanier had, but I did my best. If anyone out there thinks they can do better than I did, by all means please contribute. The files were created with the following resources: Audacity, for recording my voice, reducing noise, and running the recordings through a high pass filter to get that microphone sound. The LACoFD website, with addresses and apparatus info for each station. Special thanks to www.policeinterceptor.com for archiving the LACoFD SCU tones. All the tones you hear in these dispatches are for the actual stations named. Special thanks to voodoocat and that1fail on YouTube for their mission play throughs, giving me an idea for what kind of units are needed for each mission. www.batchgeo.com allowed me to create a map of all LACo fire stations from an Excel file I made. Entering the station name, address, and apparatus info into Excel, I was then able to load it into Batchgeo and get a map of all the county stations. (I know there are iPad apps that can also give me a map, but I only discovered them afterward) A few years ago, the Army sent me to Fort Huachua, Arizona, for a training class. One evening I was driving on post and noticed that two cars had met in the middle of an intersection. It was a light collision and both drivers were fine. They were both on their cell phones, but neither had called EMS yet. Ironically, the collision took place right in front of a fire station. I parked my truck in the station parking lot, walked around to the front door and pressed the buzzer. As it turns out, it was the dispatch center for all of Fort Huachuca, overseeing two stations. Nobody at the station knew that there was a vehicle accident on their doorstep, but they got into motion once I told them. While the firefighters were getting ready, the dispatcher called it in. I swear, it felt as if I was in an episode of Emergency! A few notes about the missions: Mission 2: I took the liberty of using station 51 for this mission, basically because I couldn’t resist. In real life, station 36 and possibly 127 would get the call. (Nowadays, there really is a station 51 on the backlot of Universal Studios, specifically named in honor of the series) Mission 10: Southern California is nowhere near the Arctic Circle. In this case, I found a fire station in Anchorage, Alaska, that has a HAZMAT unit. The dispatch tells HAZMAT to go to an actual airfield for an emergency airlift to the polar station. I have no idea what dispatch tones that station uses, so I just picked a generic warble. Mission 11: There is no oil rig located outside of Marina del Ray. In reality, oil rigs are usually located several miles from shore so that nobody can see them from the beach. But for the sake of the scenario, I had to put the oil rig somewhere, and Marina del Ray is where the only two boats in the LACoFD are located. They are not equipped to fight big fires like this one though, so the dispatch also mentions fire boats from the LAFD. I do not know if Marina del Ray is actually where the LAFD boats are located. It’s just a game. Mision 13: Anyone who has driven on the 14 freeway past Santa Clarita has seen the open pit mine I describe in the dispatch. Mission 14: While looking for a tunnel in Southern California to use for this mission, I found out that the Newhall tunnel actually had a major vehicle accident and fire a few years ago, resulting in three fatalities. I decided to use that tunnel for this dispatch. Mission 20: Believe it or not, I could not find a YouTube example of a dispatch immediately following an earthquake, so I made my best guess. The tone you hear is a group call for all stations in LACo. Heavy Rescue 103: You will probably notice that Heavy Rescue 103 gets used an awful lot. That is because Heavy Rescue 103 is the only Heavy Rescue in the LACoFD. My apologies if it gets a little old after a few missions.

For this one: -During a traffic stop, the officer should have to call in the name to see if the guy is clean I might be able to help, but not for a week or so, and I think other people here could do a way better job then I can
