  1. Alright besties. We're moving again. After a long long time of wading and wallowing in a lake of indeceison, my ass has been whooped into shape and some meaningful progress has been made with the team. We finally decided on a map area! 1:1 maps are hard but composite maps are hard too. After flip flopping between a dozen different ideas since the thread began, we finally decided to create a fictionalized, scaled, representation of the northeast section of Harlem, centering around the NYPD's 25th Precinct. By finally finding an area to focus on, we've unjammed the creative block we've all been suffering by trying to focus on so much to make. Now, we have specific, clear goals for what we're including, and with that we can move forward at an accelerated pace. So, to contradict my previous statement, expect some more screenshots and overall a lot more activity on the thread.

  5. It's a shame that so many projects just went to waste. I agree it can be time consuming, but they could have released a half finished project over say GitHub where members like myself could contribute patches and such over time or help further development in some way. Like the original NY mod. They showed screenshots and such for ages and it never saw a release.

  6. The mod is done. It just needs bug fixes and it's been over a year. No disrespect to any modders here but they killed this community by not releasing projects and giving false hope. Had the modders released projects, or at least issued bug fixes in this case, people would have had a reason to stick around. Instead we have things like the NY Mod that was teased for like 10 years and never saw the light of day. Even if it does get released tomorrow, it will never see the audience it would have seen.

  7. Quite a bit! I'm just terribly shy and I don't like to share my work until I'm totally confident in it's quality/"done"-ness. With that being said, I've stepped away from this project for a time to focus more on my collaborative project Project NYStalgia.

  10. Oh trust me, I get the growing up part. I don't have the free time I once did. However, the few remaining projects tend to have like 5 very accomplished devs working in Collab. They post an update once in a blue moon basically just to tease us of projects that will just waste away and never get to be enjoyed by the actual community. Hell I bet we see GTA6 released before we even see just a bug fix patch for Montana Mod 2.5 2.5 years after the release of 2.5(not the original although that would be nice too). How was the core fanbase alienated? I'd say we are the main ones breathing life support in to this forum. And yes forums have being more and more obsolete but check out some of the GTA mod forums. More then alive and well. Even some of the Sim City communities or Cities XL forums are absolutely thriving still.

  17. Closest firehouses I could find next to the 25th Precinct are Engine 35 Ladder 14 Battalion 12 2282 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10035 FDNY Engine 58 Ladder 26 1367 5th Ave, New York, NY 10029 And the closest hospital in that area would be Mount Sinai 1468 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10029 And the closest trauma center would be NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, located at 506 Lenox Ave, New York, NY 10037 Fun fact, the 25th Precinct was used as a exterior shot for the 54 Precinct in Blue Bloods where Danny works as a Detective 1st Grade, part of the Major Case Squad.

  19. Talking about the station panel to just spawn a person, not dispatching a vehicle, I assume? Line 87 in the LAPoliceStation script: if (numOfficers >= 5) Change that number to the max amount of MPPD officers you want. Line 166 controls the Ranger limit.

  22. Hello, its been awhile, as some of you may know, a few years back, (2-3 I don't remember) I did an English translation of the RTS mod. Here is another update for it, I'd say its almost 99.9% perfect. If you find anything that needs fixed please email me at BrianD90@live.com or message me on here. Also, I may add a drug guide in the next version. Thank you. EDIT 11/09/2012 v1.8 has been uploaded, please re download. The only things I cannot to find to translate is the text that scrolls in the top when someone dies reporting the time of death and after you take someone to the hospital when it shows what you've done right or wrong across the top, anyone know where I can find this text? Once I find this text, I'll find and correct any remaining errors and release a final version (2.0) I'll include a drug guide with the final version if it has enough support so please let me know!!! Also, if I can get permission from the RTS team I may also replace the default ambulances and fly car with American units, and as to not represent a single US city, I may just go with a nationwide private service skin. Thoughts? RTS Bieberfelde English Translation v1.8.rar

  23. Surprise, It's still going! Since my last development photo I built a new computer at the start of 2022 which didn't have a drive to install the disk version of EM4 so it was only until recently I bought an external one to install it. I come back with a shot from the map which shows an electricity substation along with a construction site behind and more New York housing.

  24. Hello to all! I am very excited to finally showcase a project that I have been working on for a little while. Currently, I only have some models done, at least 2 for each service so far. Without further adieu, I'll get right into it... BACKGROUND: This mod will be a 1:1 replacement of vanilla Emergency 4, it is designed to be a re-imagining of the base game if it had been based in the United States. For this reason, there is no city name, and agencies will be generically referred to as "Fire Department", "EMS", "Police" and "TEC". Just like in the base game, units are not numbered. There is the fire engine, police car, ambulance, etc. I really want to recreate that vanilla game feeling, with new assets and quality of life scripts. I plan on including basic LA mod scripts like controllable lighting and sirens, chase script, and maybe a few more. Again, I want to preserve the vanilla game aspect while brining it up to current times. This project will also serve to improve my modding skills in the hopes of me carrying out more complicated projects in the future. MAP: Keeping in touch with the base game, I plan on utilizing the vanilla deluxe map. I have a plethora of Americanized changes that I want to make to the map, but those will come in the future. Do not expect a brand new map, as that is not the point of this. THE FUTURE: With the core set of vehicles done, my next steps will be to get what I have into the game, ensure it all functions well, and then continue working on models. Once models are done, map modifications will be made and script implementation will occur, which will hopefully lead up to a release. The main part everyone wants to know about... As with other content creators, making mods for this game is not my #1 priority in life. I live a busy life, and this is a hobby for me. I do not have a release date or window, it may be a year, who knows. I still have lots to learn, but I hope you all will join me along this for this journey. EM4 has been a part of my life for probably a decade now, and I am glad to contribute to the community in any way that I can. Just please be mindful that I am busy, I play other games, do things in life outside of this, and I do this for fun. It will come out when it comes out, and for now I can give you this eye candy. I hope to excite and inspire you all, I do not know when the next updates will be, but you will surely see them here. Questions and constructive criticism are highly encouraged. Thank you for reading and more to come! -Yankee43 Police Units: EMS: Fire Department: TEC:

  26. Hi everyone, It's been brought to our attention that our CAPTCHA is not working properly and it's preventing new registrations. I'm trying to get the CAPTCHA error resolves, but at this time, despite looking like it's working, the back end isn't working right and is not authorizing new registrations. My understanding is registration with your Discord account is still working. If you do not have an account for here (or have since forgot the login details) you can complete the form below to request assistance and your request will be processed in order of submission. newfoundking. I can still be contacted on discord, however won't be providing creations/resets without using this form first.

  35. Hello everyone, this is just a quick update to address some rumors that have been circulating online... First, no action has been taken to stop development. Although it's been a slow and long process since it started, it doesn't mean it's dead. It has been reported that some individuals have been beating the drum that this mod is dead on this website, as well as on Discord, and on YouTube. I must admit, these people are incredibly ignorant of the fact that we are a two-man team with help from several volunteers who have generously contributed material to the mod. There is no commission involved. You are not entitled to or owed our mod. It will simply be a matter of waiting unless you pay us for our time. No monetary transaction is, however, of interest to us. For both of us, this is a hobby. Goog has a family and is fully engaged in his life. He is the basis of this modification; he is the prime meat on the bone, and he is the foundation of it all. The models he makes are meticulously detailed because he wants to deliver a fun and realistic gaming experience. He then hands it over to me in which I add a soul to these models with my realistic emergency lighting system, which is an extremely labor-intensive process on such an outdated game engine. Considering I am a full-time college student and work full-time, and having been involved in emergency 4 for almost 12 years, I find it difficult to find motivation or inspiration to open the editor on my time-constrained schedule. However, when I have time, I spend a few hours completing a model or two in a day. It is neither my intention to gain sympathy nor to justify the pace of our development. But to demand it now is ungrateful and does nothing to help. Perhaps you could delve deep into community tutorials and resources to make your own modification if you are that impatient. People who constantly DM me asking for ETAs or harassing us will simply be ignored. Basically, I see a few of you as vultures looking for opportunities to rip off or steal our development materials once it's out. In spite of this, most of you seem to be seeking new beginnings in such a legendary game, and this is the people who we are doing this for. The people who waited patiently and supported our development are what motivate us to keep going. Thank you. I appreciate your time, and I will be posting an update soon on several models that have been edited with ELS.

  36. Hello everyone! I've been trying to figure out all the keyboard shortcuts for EM4/911, yet have not found a complete list. So after searching for a while, I decided to just make this thread. The only shortcuts I know of are the ones mentioned in the FAQ. You can CLICK HERE to visit the FAQ thread. Basically these are the ones: If you know of any other shortcuts, please reply to this thread with the information. Thank you!

  37. Hey Shauney, Pretty unlikely that anyone's going to make a mod for you. That said, there's plenty of resources and support to learn to make your own! I'd recommend reading over some of the topics on the forum and learning how to make your own version of a West Metro mod. That said, in an effort to motivate you, I'd like to share a reskin I made of an Itchboy model I borrowed from the West Falls modification. In an evening of boredom, I made a Safety 35, even though I have no mods based anywhere near Colorado... Model credits to Itchboy and SlateDragon1, skinned by myself.

  38. Due to unforeseen issues encountered that we currently are trying to address the server had to be reset, because of this issues may persist which we will try to address if/when we can. Please be patient while we work through this process. We have also temporarily disabled the downloads section at this time, due to multiple reports of issues encountered with attempting to download from our database. We will have to look into this issue further since so many users have encountered this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate users understanding while we attempt to address these issues. It's a new server, and a new version of the software so we have to try to sort through things. Thank you for your understanding, EMP Staff

  39. This solution was shared to me a few months back and I got no improvement from it, however I was on an Nvidia GT430 at the time. Now I'm on a 1050Ti and I still get no difference, so it seems to be something unique to AMD cards. I never thought of this before. I will be pinning this thread so that other AMD users can see this and try it out. It might be placebo, it might be real. Until we figure out what fastcopy does, only then we can isolate what "task" is making Em4 slow down. A 5700XT absolutely should have no problems running Em4 at 100+ FPS, even on a mid range CPU.

  43. After playing EM4 for the past 8-9 years, I figured it was about time I gave the modding thing a shot. Info: To start off with, this mod is and most likely forever will be private. I've pulled bits and pieces from so many content creators that tracking everyone down and receiving approval would be far too tedious, and releasing with out permission is not something I'm willing to do. This mod is **very loosely** based off units from Fort Worth, Texas. This has been just as much of a learning experience for me as it has been a fun way to waste all the spare time I seem to have found. I plan on endlessly changing and updating things as I learn new methods, ideas, and concepts, so I expect to be fairly active on this topic. Tips and tricks welcomed and appreciated!! As of the time of this post, I assume I've put roughly ~60hrs into the development. I'll try my best to answer any questions, and opinions are welcome! Plans: The goal of this project, as previously stated is to help myself learn what EM4 modding is. So far I've done texturing, map work, lighting, animating, slight model edits, scripting and added lots of custom elements. I'd like for this to end up not showing any significant signs of the base mod, and to feel entirely Lakeview. At the time of making this post, I have two units left that I plan to make new textures for. Next I plan on going on and attempting to model in some new fire stations, as with my current unit planning, 3 bays per station is not enough. New firefighter models have been added, excellent work by Bama, as well as new medic and stretcher crews. I do plan on redoing police and then eventually onto map texture edits. You can view all my screenshots here. Units: Gameplay: Update 6/10: Various credits to: Hoppah/LA Mod Team, Itchboy, Bama/Montana Mod Team, Blackout/Squad 55 crew, Mentor1159, MikeyPI, SOCOM552, NNico **if any other authors are missing, which I'm sure there are, please advise and it will be updated**

  49. In order to Reskin a vehicle from the LA Mod you will have to "unlock" the dds file(s) that are required for the vehicle, for this example we will be asking to reskin one of the many crown victorias. In this example the CHP Vic. First you must Unlock the dds file, in order to do this you must find the dds file that you wish to alter which would be located in the following folder: Game Install\Mods\LA MOD 1.8\Models\Vehicles\03 LA Police\cv_chp.dds (some vehicles have multiple texture files) You have to rename the file to something else and change the extension from dds to v3o, this will allow the editor to unpack the file making it readable by Photoshop or a dds converter. Due to the fact that most vehicles have the same name for the Vehicle model and the dds Texture file, it is advisable to name it something such as follows: cv_chp.dds to cv_chpt.v3o Now, you need to open the editor, load the modification and then select "unpack file" again you will have to navigate to the same folder but the editor shows the folder structure a bit different: Mod:Models\Vehicles\03 LA Police\ Find your renamed dds which for the example is cv_chpt.v3o and press ok, this will unpack the file so you may edit it. Now you need to rename the file back to dds, in order for the vehicle model file to recognize the texture be sure to rename it back to what it originally was, which in this example is cv_chp.dds Once this is done you then have to either convert the dds file using a dds converter (one is available in our downloads section) or import it using Photoshop. Convert/save the image to whatever format you wish to use, .BMP, .PNG, .TGA, etc. whichever you prefer and open it in the painting application of your choosing and alter it as necessary to do whatever you wish to do to the vehicle skin. Now you have to take your texture and turn it back into the dds file for the model file which accompanies the vehicle to recognize it's new texture. Ensure that all of the dds files you have changed are in the folder where they belong and when you load the editor you should see your newly skinned vehicle there now.

  50. I have a request of Authors out there of the topics related to mods in particular. Most of you are good about having the status of the mod IE: WIP/In Development/Beta Released/Released etc, but if you could remember if there is a download link to include it in the first post of the topic; that way hopefully it will make it easier for users to find the download on the first post rather than asking multiple times per page of posts. Having a "standard" of expecting to find the download (if available) on the first post of the topic should help curb that kind of posting and make everyone's life easier for finding the most current (and up-to-date) copy of your mods. If the modification does not have a download available just add into the title or description stating that no download is available at this time for the mod; hopefully people will see that and not ask about it. Thank you for your time and we'd appreciate it if you could take the time to do this going forward to make user's lives easier in finding your mods and hopefully make your life easier by ensuring that the most current version of your mod is easier to find to download thus preventing users from having out of date copies bringing up bugs which you've already fixed.
