[EM4] Central suggestions/ideas topic (CLOSED)

The idea is nice, but the 'city works' do not really play a great role in EM4.

V1.7 already have a second fire station on the map.

I just don't really see a reason to spend hours on adding such a simple city works depot.

All right, no problem. Thanks for giving thought into it though :)

thank you Mikes photos. now to my understanding the arson investigator holds both a rank of or equal to capt/chief and a sworn officer... correct?

No, just because they are with the Arson Investigation Section of the Los Angeles City Fire Dept, does not mean they have a rank of or equal to Captain or higher. Many of them are Firefighter Specialist III's and higher.

in LA i never understood cause of soo many vehicle arson's and building arson's

Not to be patronizing or anything, but Big city equals Big city problems.

In the Future would it be hard to replace the current water tender and replace it with this one :D ?

Gotta love that huge beast over at 70s. It's just a monster in every way. While I'd love to see more County units in the game, I won't lie that I'm biased, one unit that might be better off is the water tenders used by the Los Angeles City Parks department. You can see a small pic here . Because LAFD's tenders are so old and have many issues, the LA Parks and Rec Depts 2 tenders are called out and used on most assignments. Also, the Parks and Rec rigs have deck guns unlike the County rigs.

Hey Mike, I got a question for you.

How many areas in LA City really need Water Tenders? I know there are rural areas here and there, but how many areas in The City don't have public water and hydrants available? Are there other uses they've found for the water tender? It's been a while since I've lived in SoCal and around here, the water tenders come out when there is no hydrant around. That is about it.

Hoppah,

I hope I'm not too pestering about this subject, but LA County FD covers areas that are encompassed by Los Angeles City. If you look at Universal City and North Hollywood LACoFD Stations (Battalion 1), they're right there in The City.

LACoFD Response Map: http://www.fire.lacounty.gov/HometownFireS...nsBureauMap.pdf

It's not too unrealistic to see county units in the city, and I'm with Mike on this one...I'd love to see county fd units in the game (at least a LACoFD Engine to accompany the squad).

Within the city of Los Angeles, you have the Dam areas, Hansen and Woodley with large parks, the Hollywood Hills/Encino Hills/Santa Monica Mountains, the Griffith Park area, the foothills around Chatsworth, Big and Little Tujunga Canyon, La Tuna Canyon, Pacific Palisades, and I'm sure there are some other places.

Even with all of those areas, there is a reason why LAFD has only 3 water tenders and they're old and run down. Maybe one or two responses a year require water tenders, and usually LACoFD and LA Parks are more then enough.

Something i'd like to see to add realism is with the hazmat tent to have 2 entrances. One end is where the firefighter and contaminated person goes in and the other end is where they come out. This makes having a dirty zone and clean zone (also called hot zone and cold zone) and allows medics to work on person after decontamination safely. IRL the firefighters in suits work in the dirty zone and the rest of the emergency services are safe in the clean zone.

This is for izolate infections people from dirty zone, one plase is dirty and when they moved on this "lager" they going to clean zone and they can medicated, right?

LAFD has only 3 water tenders

I'd like to see the tender permanently replaced in the fire hall with something like the USAR truck or even a bush buggy. (Maybe in 1.7, you could have Hazmat in station 1 and then have the bush buggy in station 2.) Leave the tender off screen if someone wanted to use it, but it just seems to make every fire too easy to put out.

Just a suggestion.

Nice idea, i'll take it into consideration. :)

That's a great idea. It will, however, requires scripting, to spawn or enter the persons on the right side. I'll see what I can do.

The White over Red box with the oval lights are no longer in service and have long since been replaced. We already have one "old" RA, why have another? This isn't a harp, nor am I jumping on you, but really, what is your reasoning behind wanting it included?

Well thay aren't used as RAs anymore, but they still are used by the LAFD Bureau of Support Services*. So you could modify the skin slightly and make the old RA into SU1 or SU2 and have them as a rehab vehicle. That would require a script though. So instead, you could have it transport extra paramedics to to large disasters. I even made some CERT members to go with it. It could be a way have the old RA in the mod in a realistic role. But that's just my suggestion.

*I realize those photos are 2 years old so if anyone knows they aren't in use please tell me.

I would never get off my comp if this could maybe replace an Engine

Glendale Engine 23

http://www.code2high.com/glendalefd23.htm

or Engine 24,28, or 29.

P.S. Here is a great website for station and apparatus and Police vehicles and Helicopters in the LA Area http://www.code2high.com/index.htm

This is Los Angeles Mod, not Glendale.

The Forestry trucks and the equipment truck aren't LAFD, but they're certainly in game.

While I do appreciate the differences between the two engine models, they are still very similar given the level of detail possible in EM4. I've personally hoped for a yellow-skinned engine and that one is certainly very cool looking, so I'd like to see it too, maybe as a LaCounty or Auxilary engine :D

Do people not understand that Los Angeles is a huge metropolitan area encompassing not only the City of LA but many surrounding smaller cities and townships? LAFD, LaCoFD, and the other City FD work together to cover a massive area. Is there a reason the LAFD is worthy of being represented while the services around them that cover the rest o the metro area are not? I don't think so, and I don't think Hoppah does either since he has added both a LaCo unit and forestry service units to the fire services, and there are lots of non-city units in the police lineup.

Hoppah has hinted that they are working on the vehicle lineup, so suggestions of what to change/include certainly apply in my book, and I do not see any reason to discount something simply because its not strictly an LAFD unit.

Yes LA County not LA City.

This mod is based on the whole Los Angeles area i.e LA County, Los Angeles City and more. It's not just based on the city. Did you forget that there is a vehicle from the LACoFD in the mod? there is also the CALIFORNIA highway patrol, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and more.

And sorry for the off-topic discussion.

Got another thing that'd be good as it's been bugging me for a while. When the LAPD or ambulances are put to patrol the city they should follow all appropriate city laws as they are not in an emergency situation. For example, stopping at red lights. Dunno how hard this would be to script but the general civilian cars stop at them...
