[EM4] Central suggestions/ideas topic (CLOSED)

hey hoppah is there any possibility that you could change that crash tender into one of the smaller ones i remember i put up a pic but i don't think anyone gave me an answer besides it looks cool

I'm curious why you want the smaller one instead? I personally love the big beast in the airplane crash mission, and its always worked well in freeplay too, especially around the docks.

The road signs are being changed, I believe Hoppah is implementing a "US Signage" package made by someone else. Check the main Em4 topic.

Nice :)

Road signs would be nice. Why not change the roads too look like America roads. :P

*paint bucket*

It's possible, but too much work. Changing or adding buildings would be even better, but that's even more work. :)

Just a quick question, Are you actually doing a specific part of LA (like Santa Monica) ?

Maybe that then you can slowly move and add things to make it look more like what has inspires you (so that you're maybe bij LA mod 2.5 half way there) ?

Hoppah, I like that you tweaked the vehicle entry points on the freeplay map, (I used to do that myself to add a little more realism).

I really think it would add to the freeplay map if you adjusted the time it took for offscreen units to get to the map - by adjusting the map properties. This would make it more realistic as an offscreen unit should take considerably more time to arrive on scene than a truck on the map would.

Santa Monica is it's own independent city withing the Los Angeles County borders. It has it's own Fire Department, Police Department and Municipal services, though as of recently, LAFD has taken over dispatching for them in an unusual partnership that has not gone as well as either had hoped.

The mod itself is representative of the Los Angeles City Fire Department and Police Department, and LA City in general. With that, it includes numerous agencies that LAFD and LAPD interact with on a daily basis such as the USFS (Tujunga/Sunland area), LASD and LACoFD (Hollywood and many others), LA Port Police, and CHP to name a few.

I'm not saying this is a bad idea, but one thing to note is that the game clock runs fast... real fast. A second engine from off map takes between 6 to 15 minutes to arrive at an incident on the games default setting. In real life, as you can see by this map, there is no area where a 2nd company would take longer then that. Usually it's stepped with the first unit arriving in less then 5, the 2nd and 3rds taking 5-7, and everyone else after that is usually there in under 10.

Hey everyone,

I haven't posted in along time, but I do read lots of the posts everyday. I just wanted to say what an awesome job on LA Mod, each version is so much better then the last, and its is always hard to believe it can be toped.

I have a few idea's for the next version, two vehile changes, and a mission idea.

my first idea, is a question/ idea about a redesign of the Red cross hummer. I'm not from LA so i could be totaly wrong, but I have never seen a Red cross hummer in my neck of the US. What we have in the midwest is volenteers who drive there own cars, with flags and red dash lights. Also they use some van's and most of the time I see Red cross converted ambulances, that become Disaster Relief vehicles. I think it would be cool to have a modified ambulance as the red cross vehicle. Also insted of the normal parametics maybe red cross workers with the red jackets, also i know in our area after a disaster they help to set up flood lights etc... so maybe add the enginer but again modify him having a red jacket and only able to set up lights.

my second idea is about adding the police serch lights on to the sheriff, L.A. or highway patrol vehiles. I am talking the very bright normally halogen white lights that the police can turn on, which are normally just below the light bar on the roof of the car. I am sure its part of the light bar but that is the location it sits. I have seen them both on the front, back and sides of the light bars, but most often i see them only on the sides. maybe have it as a button to turn on?

my last idea, which is a mission, is a very cool idea, but i have a really bad feeling its near inposible to do. Pretty much what im thinking is a subway train derailment. I think it would be cool for either a track to give out and thus the train derails or maybe the cavern roof gives way trapping people. It would be a very challenging mission but something that would be very cool. I do know there is a subway system in L.A. Maybe the mission would have to do with obviously treatign the injured, but also having to escort non injured people to escape exits in the tunnel. on top of that maybe have either the train or the collapse cause a gas leak which starts part of the train on fire? Like i said it would be a hard mission to have work, but it might be a cool time.

Well that is all I got this time, if you have questions or anything feel free to comment or send me a message.

thanks all

Won't be too hard? Any one can try this if the have Photoshop or a program like it?

Changing roads only wouldn't be a problem.

I have done this before. This is how.

Just a normal file image of the ground map you want to have american roads.

Be on New Layer and use the Square Marquee tool. Select a part of road and don't select over any sidewalks.

After select you road on the new layer. Use paint bucket to paint an cover inside Marquee.

If you select over sidewalk or you have curves? You can just trim off or erase.

The cover color should be road color. Blacks are new tar road, Greys are older tar roads, and Light Greys are concrete.

To give your roads some textures. Use the filter, blur, and smudge tools. Filters are easy and fast to use.

Paints are their own layers. Made easy by line tools and shape tools.

Wise to keep paint layers always by themselves. Old paint looks are hard to do... Tried before.

Since these are layers above the map image. You can see how it matches with the map.

After you done with roads. Save your files incase you need to make edits and keep layers apart.

Then save as a TGA image and use editor to import it to replace game map. You can see how the Game light and game graphic makes your roads look like.

So you can have American Roads when playing LA Mod. Or any other roads... I'm doing the same thing for Tokyo Mod.

If your really good you can make your own roads like this.

Hey,

first, nice to read that some people think their ideas through before posting them ;)

If I remember correctly, there was some kind of subway mission, in the Emergency series, don't know if it was Emergency 2 or 3, but it was something about a subway station that had a gas leak, or gas terror attack or something like this, plus a fire started raging in the station. It was a somehow difficult mission, as you could only use your men, no vehicles (obviously), and you had to use what few hydrants where in the station, you had long transport ways for the injured and only limited time, making that mission quite difficult :)

Edit:

@Commander Rasser: Those streets look awesome!

It was in EM 1. there where two missions: terrorist attack in the subway and fire in the subway.

Hey,

i guess this is the right topic for vehicle suggestions too.

I suggest this Hummer for your (awesome) modification:

http://galerie.bos-fahrzeuge.info/details....&l=deutsch/

This has already been suggested before a couple pages back. If only you would look.

To explain why this was denied;

This car used to be in the LA Mod for EM3 and the reason beeing that it isn't in the one for EM4 is that this car isn't used in Los Angeles anymore.

Red cross hummers have been the big deal since just after Katrina. Type Red Cross and Hummer into google and you can read the press releases and such of all the donations and programs throughout the US. We also have the POVs and the DRVs as well for rehab and civilian services during fires and disasters.

One thing that might be better then such a massive revamp, would be to reskin the vehicle or remove it and replace it with the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency SUV. During a disaster or large scale incident, the EMSA will transport additional Doctors, Nurses, and Emergency Medical Personnel as well as set up mobile field hospitals in conjunction with FEMA DMATs.

LACoEMSA is the parent organization in charge of all EMS in Los Angeles County, including LAFDs.

my second idea is about adding the police serch lights on to the sheriff, L.A. or highway patrol vehiles. I am talking the very bright normally halogen white lights that the police can turn on, which are normally just below the light bar on the roof of the car. I have seen them both on the front, back and sides of the light bars, but most often i see them only on the sides. maybe have it as a button to turn on?

The forward facing clear lights on lightbars are known as "take downs" if they steady burn, and sometimes known as pursuit lights when they flash. At the corners on bars like the MX7000 or Vista, you can have sweeping lights known as pursuit lights if they sweep 90 degrees, or intersection lights at 120 degrees. Fixed lights on the sides are known as alley lights and can also be set up to flash.

As for clear lights to the rear, I've never seen any set up like that though I have heard of some depts having intersection lights back there, but I've never seen it without a colored filter anywhere in the US that I've been.

In the game, check out the LAPD with the arjent lightbar and you can see the flashing takedowns and other lights as well. Intersections on the mx7k or a vista would be hardly visible, and the multifunction clear lights on the Smart Vision of the CHP is already set up for the proper rotate.

If you're looking for a spot light kind of function, the problem with that is that it would have to be attached to the special light function with the arrow bar. We've already seen how bad the lighting engine is in the game, just put two ambulances next to each other and use their flood lights and you can't see anything. Imagine multiple police cars all with their arrows on to direct traffic amongst other vehicles and having the takedowns, doorpost spots, and such on. .

Please read through the last couple of pages, that vehicle has already been discussed a few times very recently. The game currently models the correct version of brush patrols used by the LAFD. There were 2 hummers in service at one point but 1 rolled, and the other was removed and given to the Museum.

Mike,

I didn't know that about the hummers and the american red cross. I haven't seen any in Illinois, but besides that point, I just hate how the H2 & H# look in real life, and seeing them in the mod, i refuse to use them... lol I like your idea for an ulturnative EMS vehicle... What about a Disaster Relief agence? lots of towns besides local police, fire, EMS we sometimes also have Disaster agences, they arn't trained cops, or EMS they are there mostly for traffic control and just to assist the police and fire.

The lights i was talking about are the "ally" lights, I think they just look very cool, and cause be very useful in game.

thanks for your response mike!

Thanks,

OK clearly you did not bother reading this thread. Or you would seen that this was suggest already and that it been said that this vehicle is no longer in service.

im not saying that this has to b done b/c ths is suggestions but anyway, i think for the fire and ems vehicles they shood be updated with new lightbars sort of like the led lightbars or the lightbar like on the USFS engine

The lightbars on the fire engines match the ones currently in use by the LAFD on their engines. Why change it to something else?

i dont know if this has been suggested before or if its possible to change the axe or just leave and add one of these to the swat units it would just be more realistic i think to break or open locked doors

If we had calls where Law Enforcement had to do dynamic entry on locked doors I'd fully agree! But the only locked doors that I'm aware of come into play involves Fire/EMS responses. Forceible entry is something Firefighters do on a daily basis without the need for calling SWAT :)

There are hostage scenarios with barricaded doors (deluxe map?) -- and there is the Hacker mission from the original game, and when you find his house you have to call the FD to open his door :)
