EM2012 is NOT moddable

Recommended Posts

LOL? Mods aren't everything anyways I don't think they had Mods for Emergency: Firefighters for Life

P.S. I still play Emergency: Firefighters for Life its what got me hooked. =]

That's true, however, keep in mind coming in to 5 we expected a whole new game not EM4 repackaged as more or less an expansion pack and advertised as if it were a whole new game. I imagine that with a more modern game engine like they used, it has opened up new possibilities that were impossible, or nearly impossible with EM4. Then just look at EM1 to EM2. Did 2 seem like an expansion pack to EM1? Not that I recall. Plus in the days of EM1 and 2 I am not sure if any games had explored the realm of a modification system yet. I'm not sure the average home user would have had a PC capable of doing the things needed to mod games back then.

I read on emergency4.nl that EM2012 moddable is, that topic was made by Joopjr.

http://www.emergency4.nl/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=4144

Map:

#It's possible to get a EM4 map in EM2012, only I didn't manged it how you can use the underground corectly (Cars/Pedestrian etc... are good)

#It isn't possible to get a EM2012 edited in EM4(same for the underground + e4m file)

#It isn't possible to change the name of mission "2012_m0X.eft" to "2012_m01.eft" and play that one first.

Objects/Cars

#DDS files need to changed in to "v3o" en then choose the "unpack" option in em4 editor and then recall it to a .dds file. And than you should open the "DDS Converter" to convert the file to a (bv) bmp file.

#Objects are made with .model files. This one you can't open (for now then)

Other

#XML files need to changed to "v3o" and then choose the "unpack" option in the em4 editor and recall it to the XML file.

and from Brent:

You can change the EM2012 lights!

Copy the .e4p file to EM4 and change the lights and than copy it back to the EM2012 file

NOTE:

This is al the information that I transaladed from the emergency4.nl site/Joopjr post

It's at own risk!

i would stick to EM4/ 911FR

1. You can play with mods =)

2. Dont have to waste money on a game thats worst than the one before.

3.People are still making a bunch of mods for EM4 so more fun stuff to play with =)

i agree with you totally. I was going to buy it until i figured out its not modable. so now im not because i live in the US and dont like playing games with fire trucks im not familar with.

i dont mind with trucks i dont understand but sometimes its just so hard like in the Bamberg mod i thought the rescue truck was an engine but if you look at engines in north america we have deck guns so we can tell them apart and rescue truck usually is bigger than a normal truck

Hey all, I am very confused after seeing this topic. The confusion being I would like to know what game I am getting.

I played a demo for Emergency 2012 in the US, and my store has a shipping date of Jan 5, 2011. I thought EM 2012 was made by Silverlight, yet the game I bought is from Valusoft (Yet Valusoft has no info on their website regarding this title), and it says quite clearly in the pre-order info it is moddable:

ValuSoft Emergency 2012

WARNING!! The world as we know it is out of control! As the head of all rescue operations – you must ensure that the job gets done with all fire and rescue services, police and specialist personnel. The world is counting on you – can you handle the pressure?

Features

Extensive single player game with career and challenge mode and also share the mayhem in multi-player mode.

Command a range of emergency resources and vehicles including fire trucks, heavy salvage trucks and more.

Go face-to-face with your worst nightmares as you take on 30 devastating events.

Create your own Mods and Missions using the Scenario Editor.

Choose from 12 pulse-pounding, emergency-packed, life threatening missions and pass by well known landmarks around the world.

So does anyone know if that is the same game as the demo, when I saw this post about it not being moddable, I figured maybe the EU and US ports are different? They are different boxes and different companies.

Thank you in advance for clearing up any confusion.

From deepsilver (Ralph Stock):

Which parts would you have liked to improve even further?

I know that modding is quite an important topic for the Emergency community. In the past, we have been able to support this by providing an editor. We would have liked to do the same this time around. However, for one thing, the technical requirements have become a lot more complicated and sophisticated. It takes experienced staff these days to work with our internal design programs. Also, it is, of course, a matter of resources. We cannot simply publish our tools and, since we are not a large company, we are forced to set priorities in development. We cannot produce a marketable game that features outdated graphics, and players' demands on usability are constantly increasing. Therefore, we decided to focus on those two aspects in order to be able to continue the Emergency series at all.

From deepsilver (Ralph Stock):

Thanks! I already read that on their site, that wasn't the question. The one from Valusoft clearly states there is a scenario editor, that is the one I ordered.

I didn't order a Quiksilver product, I ordered a Valusoft product, that's why I was asking are they the same game and same demo?

I can't find ANY info on this Valusoft product that I ordered, is this a bogus product promising things it can't deliver or what?

Thanks to anyone who understands what I am asking.

It was orignally susposed to be moddable, but I'm guessing valuesoft didn't update the description of the game. They are the same game, just different distributers.

Thanks, that's all I wanted to know. I assumed it but wasn't sure with the different boxes/descriptions. Would have been bad getting the wrong game on the 5th!

I am sure the community will work wonders with it.:)

My question is a long shot but hear me out.

When Operation Flashpoint was released, immediately people were modding the original game including new units, missions and so on (like 911 FR/E4). After a few years it was becoming outdated and the graphics were starting to look out of touch, not many people were happy since a new game wasn't likely to come out.

Thnen a modder changed the game to make it more updated and relistic. I can't explain all the changes, it's one of those things you have to see but some examples are better explosions, improved graphics and more realistic looking faces.

My point is, if your that fused about Emergency 2012 then why not at least try to do the same with 911 FR/E4? If 911 FR/E4 can be updated to get to the same level of 2012 then that would in itself be an awesome feat! I know that it may not be possible but if you think there is a chance then take it. I have just started to learn how to script and mod so I'm not the person to ask but maybe someone has a better understanding of this than I do and could take the opportunity.

(I wish to state out that I am not trying to advertise other games, just give references to back up my question and hope it gets seen this way).

FYI, Valusoft is a North American budget game publisher, and a subdidiary of THQ (as far as I know). They're not a software development company.

So the Valusoft version ought to be the same as the Deep Silver version, it's just a different publisher. You can always send them a message asking about the editor, but I highly doubt it will be there (or that you will get an helpful answer - let alone any answer at all). A wise move would be to remove that line, since it basically amounts to false advertising... But truth be told, the bargain bin game market is systematically synonymous of poor gameplay, bugs, compatibility issues, missing features and whatnot, and publishers couldn't care less.
