  1. For the time being, would people mind if I just add 2 or 3 additional POV's but with generic civ vehicles with no ELS? I'll replace them later on.

Regarding the problems of volunteers, I am trying to write a more flexible volunteer script but this will take time, as I said. The plan is to allow various commands on the control panel to dictate how many volly's get called, if they drive to scene or respond to station alone.

There is nothing yet but this idea is something I will be working on along with the other projects.

  2. I'll gladly have a discussion. Let's all keep it civil, and please for fucks' sake don't abuse the downvote feature.

My position on this issue has not changed. I am going to tell it like it is.

I won't give my opinion on the private mods issue because I've already said my thoughts on that many times. I'm also not going to speak on other modders' behalf.

Regarding usage of content, I don't put much more thought into it than this: I make content that I like, on my own terms. I set the rules how my content is used. If you don't like those terms, don't use the content.

Go ahead and hold me responsible for "killing Em4 modding". You have the right to hold that opinion, and I have the right to not care for what you think of me.

I also don't agree with the framing of this situation that "the begging will stop when the assets are released". I know for a fact that people still complained about these issues even after the release of Montana mod. And with that in mind, why should I be bothered by begging, when I can just...not do anything about it? I can go on with my day unaffected by it.

Personally, I don't see the point in beating this dead horse again; at a fundamental level, you and I won't see eye to eye so what's the point of bringing this up?

At the end of the dya, I do this because I want to, not because I owe it to someone. Clout? Fame? Views? I could give a fuck. I'm here because I like doing this, I have my friends and good people around me. We shoot the shit, have fun. That's all it is to me now.

Moving forward, I'd like to resolve this situation by offering a compromise: I'll stay away from you, and you stay away from me. No future arguments erupt from this situation, nobody loses anything.  Life is hard enough as is for everyone in the world right now, I don't think Em4 modding should be another weight on people.

hello all right ham I'm making some particular modifications to the map, if you creators want I'll send this montana map re-updated I'm trying hard to make the modified completely I'll leave my discord for contact -_TiO_TiO_OmaR.ExE_-# 2716

I'm learning to work with mods but I don't know how to work with this yet, but if there are errors on the map, I apologize.

While I appreciate your interest in the mod, please don't share any edits you make to the mod. Please keep it to yourself because we explicitly do not allow edits of the mod to be uploaded.

  4. Today, I am having a run at fixing the issues with the mod. Later on as the day goes along, I will update this post with what I've been able to get through and fix.

The volunteer script changes will be done later on because it requires a major rewrite of the code.

    Spoiler

I wont post pictures of everything except the most major changes

First off, drafting finally works. The command was randomly hidden and refused to appear ingame for some reason.image.png

    - Pepperspray script works now as well

    - I have the SAR trailer fixed for goHome and parking script

    - The missing car accident by the south east is fixed but I still cannot figure out why the oil spills break on some incidents. I might revert to a different method of spawning them that is more accurate.

    - Shotgun bug fixed

    - Fixed command icons to some commands

    - Fixed wheels on police Explorer

    - Fixed bugged missing person callout

    - I will be deleting the powerline callout until I actually make one

  5. Again, I am watching the thread and seeing people's issues.

Right now my strategy is to fix the worst bugs like the missing and failed callouts. There are other things that can't be changed like callout variance. There is no file to configure the frequency of certain calls. It really is random and I have no way of giving a specific event more "weight".

The volunteer script issues are something I plan on fixing as well but I will need some guidance. Would it be better to add more POV's responding to station or should I program a few extra ones to always drive to scene ahead of the apparatus?

I know this was discussed previously but I'd like to hear people's thoughts. Adding this feature will take longer to release the bugfixes.

  6. Honestly, this is just a 911 Operator clone.

If the point is to compete in the genre, then 16T needs to do more. The "true" world map is nice but they'd need more like having region specific images for emergency vehicles. They could also adapt the systems to operate per country. That would actually give depth to this gameplay type than just generic police and fire for every country on earth.

Do we know for sure that they are using Itchboy's models for their mod? Some of the vehicle's especially the county fire engines look similar to the original Montana models, but their page says the vehicles are reskins from their other projects. It might just be that they decided to model a Montana mod in the same fictional town and county because they were inspired by the original mod but they haven't actually stolen anything.

I mean, it sucks that they didn't come up with an original idea and haven't credited Itchboy for the idea of the town of Monida Pass being a location for a mod, but maybe they aren't thieves?

I'm curious, so I had a look through myself.

I am sure it's using West Falls vehicle models that were reskinned. Kinda ironic considering I helped make that mod too. I don't know the usage rules that Slate/Dennis put together for that but I personally think he's getting screwed because he worked on those rigs too.

Have they stolen anything? For the time being, no, because I haven't seen their credits file or if they've borrowed any code that wasn't supposed to be out. I wouldnt know unless I had the files, which I dont, so I won't make any claims on my end.

Where I do disagree is that they're releasing a reskin mod of the same area, same idea, and using Montana assets, some of which weren't allowed for reuse in other mods. I can't keep track of them all but there's quite a bit that I did not allow for repackaging into other projects.

I'll leave it to bama to make a decision on this, because this mod isn't my idea, but his. It's also his map, his map texture, and I will have to hear from him directly if he gave permission for his texture and map work to be altered and redistributed.

I don't have an exclusive monopoly over LA or Montana, but they could have chosen to be more original, or made more content than what I see here. The whole project is low effort and doesn't actually do anything to elevate the game.

What do I plan on doing about this? Nothing until I have proof. The most I can do right now is put together a better project and let the work speak for itself.

There’s a couple guys making a mod called Monida Pass using your map and scripts and they are gonna release it

    Thanks for informing me.

I'm not a fan of it, but the only way to prove a point is to make a better mod.

Itch - I know I speak for MANY of the followers and players of EM4 in saying WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU DO FOR THE COMMUNITY.  Please continue to keep making the beautiful and quality stuff you do.  It is WELL worth the wait!

    THANK YOU!

Thank you as well. I wouldn't be here if not for everyone's support.

Hey, I just had a bloody crazy but revolutionary idea. Maybe once you finish the 90s and 80s versions, maybe you should dive further into history by making a 70s, 60s, and 50s one. Just a thought, that way we could have the American Lafrance Duplexes, the Mack 45U cabs, the Seagraves, older Firecoaches, all that. Just a thought.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be doing that. I'll be leaving off the older eras to other modders.

I'll finish up more assets and add what I promised but I won't do older time periods.

Rather, I have new projects in the works for retro and modern modding that are set in new places. I've been doing LA for too long and it's time I tried other places, and other time periods.

A huge thanks to everyone who sent references. Keep it up, friends.

  10. I have some updates for this, though minor.image.png

Trailer model by CanadianFrog. Chevy C3500 by bama1234, Ford F350 by MikeyPI.

Special thanks to the Youtube channels who uploaded video of these vehicles. We would never have known about these otherwise.

I have a few photos to share, first one is a photo of a early 80s USFS utility which seems to be a series 9 chevy luv, this photo was taken somewhere in socal.

Last few photos are of LASDs ESD units which some people might find interesting, and a photo CHP Plymouth trailduster which I haven't found any other information on other than what is provided there.

Thank you so much for finding this info. I will likely be including a few of these. Not quite sure on the USFS though, I was hoping for a larger fullsize pickup. Hopefully one of them surfaces. A Chevy LUV would be usable for civilian use though.

Tank wagons carry anywhere from 300 to 2500 gallons of water, and normally have a 50-1000GPM pump. So if you ask me for EM4's water script I would say make the GMC (and if you make it, the retro mack) a "light" tank wagon with 2000 gallons of water on it. And name the Kenworth bullnose, the standard Kenworth, and the oshkosh in as a "heavy" tank wagon with around 3000 gallons of water. That's just my idea.

Yeah this could work. For the time being, I'll be looking at the GMC because there's more references for it than the 40's tender.

Found some photos that show what the airports had in terms of pumpers.

Thank you for posting. I'll have to hold off on these until we can make a proper freeplay map with an airport.

If the Command trailer as an MCU doesn't work out. Would it make sense to use a Triage Script?

Just an Idea to throw out there.

I will probably go with the MCU trailer. I don't really want to include the tarp script because of the difficulty in making it work across FP and MP.

I've updated the mod with those three new vehicles.

Progress remains steady on other fronts. I am continuing on creating civilian assets and I am also mustering up the courage to make the helicopters. Maybe next year will be it.

  12. To keep it simple because this is starting to get out of hand:

I've been retro-pilled and don't have much motivation to work on modern assets and vehicles. That includes working on this mod.

I will release it but I won't be adding all those modern new up to date vehicles seen on social media or other sources.

This mod is being worked on, kinda, but I have a lot more enthusiasm for my older projects.

I'll see you guys in this thread when the mod is ready.

Everyone, please chill the fuck out.

  13. I'll be watching this thread, everyone, please be nice about this discussion even if it's a controversial topic.

As for my thoughts? I was named specifically so here's my take:

If we're talking about the forums in general, things have improved significantly and people absolutely an respect one another's work within this section of the community. Compared to those older days, I feel a lot more satisfied in making content in this kind of environment.

I am also thankful for all the new people I've met, and the people who support my projects in a non-transactional way. It is an honor to make mods with many of your positive interactions. It's a much better situation than people mindlessly begging for assets like the old days. I'm still amazed that I have people helping with research, texture making, collaborations with models, scripts.

For me personally, if there is a solution to this "problem", it's the one I've been saying for years. If you don't like private mods, instead of tearing down content creators, support public mods instead. There are many public release mods that need a lot of love and improvement and could benefit from your effort. Look at how community sourced information was able to help Project Nostalgia and Montana. It really doesn't take much but you could become a part of making your favorite mods be even better.
