  1. Your GPU might require a driver update.

However, the issue with the buttons is likely related to path 1.3.

You need patch 1.3 for all mods to work.

If you bought the game online, it is likely already patched. If it says 1.3 on the lower side of the main menu, don't apply the patch because it might break your installation.

a bug I believe is if you laod up a save off the game it adds the Squad groth facter in even if you have removed it in the Spec files so it then makes you start to pay  huge amounts for personal if you have to buy them off map

I haven't been able to replicate this bug. It also didn't happen to the others I've asked to try.

For now I will look into this on the side, when time allows.

Some stuff I've made for fun, not really LA or anything serious.

I might have found the answer on those beacons.

Some brands offered these 4 way static rotators.

The beacon that LASD uses is likely of this configuration. There could be more brands that offered these besides what is on Youtube, and I am by no means saying LASD 100% used these brands. It is worth further investigation.

To achieve the CA steady burn, the front facing light was likely bypassed from the flasher cycle and directly hard wired to the 12 volt main power.

Awesome, loved the unmarked ones! Civ vehicles also look pretty good. But I am a bit unsure about the color of the caprice, is it really common among the unmarked vehicles of that era? Also do you plan on adding plain clothed officers to accompany these unmarked vehicles?

I went with blue becuase it felt like a neutral enough color.

I've seen white, red, and brown unmarked LA police units. I think any color goes when it comes to unmarked police.

I already have plainclothes detectives for the LAPD units, however for LASD, I want those unmarked cars to go for SEB/SWAT in order to differentiate them from LAPD.

  5. I've decided to go with 2 unmarked sheriff cruisers, somewhat similar to what is there in 11john's photos. I won't add more until we can have full confirmation on what they would have used.

I was not able to find the specific brand or model for the weird steady burn beacon. As a result, I've decided to have a bit of compromise. The unmarked Malibu will have a steady red spotlight but with a Federal Signal Firebam on the roof for 360 degree coverage.

The lighting on the Caprice is a mix of various 2000's sheriff unmarked units I've foud.

On the topic of civs, I have started making edits of the existing models and turning them into new variants with new designs, for different cars:

Wow this is an amazing find. Thank you. Do you have more pictures of unmarked LASD units, by any chance. Now that you've given me those pictures, I might as well make 2 or maybe 3 unmarked sheriff units.

I have been doing testing with the prototype setup ingame. I've decided to go with having an incomplete lineup of leaving behind vanilla assets. The main reason for this decision is due to the prototypes. It would be impractical for me to make 2 versions of this mod, one with many color variants, and another with unique vehicles per prototype.

I can share some good news: all civilian vehicles (so far) implemented into the game have wheels. The next few days will be finishing up textures and models for the remaining 4 vehicles I've not completed, and to start the civilian lighting on the cars.

  7. Here is where I am at now with the traffic set. Wheels will be added to these later.

We're still missing a lot of cars that I want to do. As a result, we have to make a decision:

The easiest plan (and to release this pack out the soonest) is to these put into the game as is. These cars will appear just fine, but there will be vanilla assets occupying the slots of cars that I have not created yet.

Are people okay with having some vanilla mixed into the pack for now, or should I fill out the remaining slots with color variants of these cars just to make everything look consistent, even if they are repetetive?

Might Be a nice idea to put a a unmarked car with the red bulb on the rooftop side of the car :D no ?

If I can find LAPD or LASD using them in real life, then sure.

I don't know what I need this for, but a lot of other agencies still run these trucks to this day. Maybe I can have this as the LAPD bomb squad truck but I don't see how this can be achieved in normal freeplay.

I don't count this as being part of the traffic set, rather as a dev assset for other modders who need this truck.unknown.png

#24: In real life, this car nearly killed GM. l hope to make this look good in the traffic set.

  9. Say hello to the base versions of another 2 LAFD chief cars. I am still missing one variant, and I still need to texture up the Mercury, but this will be four new chief/captain vehicles. There will be other vehicles coming the FD/EMS besides these.unknown.png

    Spoiler

I know that LAFD also ran Oldsmobiles for their arson investigator and other admin cars. Maybe I can add those in eventually, or have them as civilian vehicles.

Not sure if this is a normal request, but can I modify and upload the Unitrol Omega, 80k, 480k sirens for a siren mod for other games? I will give credit as appropriate.

Thanks for asking but I won't be allowing edits or conversion of the siren tones.

Love the mod but i have some questions, curiosities and comments

    1. Will there be added support for the original freeplay map? the LA map is neat and the guys that made it put alot of TLC into it but the diversity of the old map ads a bit     more challenge imo.

    2. do you have any plans for the National Guard? the humvee, Generic Truck and blackhawk fit for the 1990s era but the M4s and UCP would need to be swapped for M16s and M81

    3. not a question. just pointing out that the "connect truck to hydrant then truck to truck" system is awesome and i love it.

i really don't know what else to say besides this is a great mod and looking at your WIP pics it's going to be a even better mod. keep up the good work and don't let people get you down 😃 👍 when life gives you lemons GET MAD

There won't be any plans for the original freeplay map, but I might be doing something with the campaign map if I can find a copy of W00ds LA campaign map.

There won't be national guard because of the additional work needed.

  11. Lately progress is a bit slow while I work on another project. This is the only thing I've been able to work on for this mod.

While looking through the LAFDHS photo archive I came across a few shots of the firecoach tillers

These two show what I believe is Truck 20 after serving Station 105 in the 80s and being relocated again to station 35 in the late 80s or early 90s

Last two are b&w photos of truck 63 in the 1970s

    http://www.usfirepolice.net/ca_california/ca_lafd/ca_los_angeles_retired_ladder_58_(2)-1.jpg

Came across another photo of one of the two that LA purchased this time serving station 58. Must have been a short term assignment for that rig as the apparatus records dont show anything about either of the trucks serving station 58

I might be adding just one Firecoach tiller because LAFD ever acquired 2 in their entire history.

If I go through with the Heavy Utility, I'll be doing a poll of which wrecker should be included in the mod. Firecoach or Mack.

Beautiful models I just love these cars from the 80s and 90s 😍

Have you ever thought about using Patron or Paypal donations? i would really like to support your work.

    I appreciate the support.

Unfortunately I am in a gray area for monetization. The submod and all it's assets are in the Em4 format of .e4p, .script and so on. As a result, they are considered "game assets" and based on my understanding of the EULA, I can't monetize that.

I also can't monetize the models themselves because they contain work of other people like Phantom, EmC-Unit, Ibarra and Hoppah.

Most likely I will only setup Patreon or Paypal once I start developing my own separate game with 100% self made assets.

There is a few scenes in Adam 12 at LAX. It looked to have the tin cans with LAPD during the late 60s to early 70s.
    Found this too

Hope this other one helps in general

I think you found a BHPD car, and one that isn't on the internet no less. Nice find. No plans on BHPD but maybe it's something you might be interested in?

I did some research and found this website: https://www.lawa.org/groups-and-divisions/airport-police/about-us/apd-history

Apparently they were staffed by mostly just unarmed security, armed "Security Bureau" peace officers, and a regular sub-division of LAPD patrols pre-1984 (as seen in a few Adam-12 episodes like Squad 65 said) . So it's possible they didn't have any cars at all and just patrolled the interior of the airport while LAPD patrolled the roads, however I'm not sure given the blurry photo above.

I believe your source and what you have to say about it. For now I will keep my expectations low and just put one more car in, just like Port Police/Warden because of a lack of references.

For the time being I'll also put more work into FD and EMS (besides the civilian cars) because I feel like there's still a few things that are missing from them.

Previously, I have been aware of airport operations cars for guiding planes and what. It appears to be the same as the black and white but with completely different lighting, livery and setup, This appears to be a Ford Maverick. Based on 11john's info, Security Bureau used the same car as Airport Ops.

    LAX Ops Car December 1979

Now the mystery deepens: What was used between 1979-1985?

LAXPD apparently wasn't a thing until 1984, they were named "Airport Security Bureau" before that.
This is the only pre 1986 law enforcement looking vehicle operating on LAX I could find, from a blurry pic taken in 1978, seems to be equipped with a Twinsonic:

At least I found 2 more pics of late 80s Airport Police vehicles today, second one is from Van Nuys:

Can't quite tell with that tiny picture, but I do appreciate the pictures of the Caprices. Thank you for sending them.

Ill look into that agency, maybe I'll be able to find some but I appreciate what you can find too.

My thoughts on the cars: Some have the ramabar but others seem to not. There's also a variation of LP6000 lightbar there too.

    amazing work 👍
I believe this vehicle also appears in one of the LAPD Life on the Beat episodes:
    (good side shot at 3:40)

check this one out too, some footage of other SWAT vehicles, including a heavily modified white pickup and a few vans:

About those pics of 80s slicktop vehicles from earlier: those are really puzzling me, I only heard that they started using them after the 1992 riots to improve public relations, replacing the unmarked vehicles previously used for gang enforcement and other duties.

Thank you. I do know about these videos but the quality isn't enough for me to fully figure out the vehicle. I am looking into getting money together to buying the DVD collection of this series but it's not that big of a deal; I know quality pictures of these vehicles will eventually surface. I at least have most of the vehicles here such as the SWAT vans and this big Ford truck. I don't have any plans yet for that long Chevy pickup because the roof equipment (similar to Lenco Bearcat MARS) doesn't really work in this game. The effort of having to research that mechanism wouldnt' be worth it for the game.

I have no idea about the slicktops; my only guess is that they were testing a handful of units out before cancelling the policy, then re-activating it by the mid 1990s.

Do you have any information on LAX airport police units before 1986? I know about the green supervisor car, but I am looking into what airport PD had from 1979-1985

I've been watching the progress on this mod for a few months but haven't tried to comment on it yet, this is easily one of my favorite mods for EM4 at the moment loving the work that's been put into the mod so far.

Posting now because I found some photos of the 2 crown tillers and was hoping they could be useful in some way.

The site is crownisking.org but the page is only accessible from wayback machine, photos are under the departments tab and LA city fire department theres 2 different pages for both 63 and 20 it includes some information for the history of both rigs

Thank you for this lead on information. The site isn't a complete archive but the information helps out a lot.

Very lucky for me. It has lots of rear photos of the Heavy Utility. I might just be making one after all.
