  1. Cox, you've been banned for two weeks. This isn't the first time you've been told no. Mindcat, you need to calm down. Next time you'll receive a suspension
  2. That credit doesn't cut it: "Me, and someone else who did the majority of the work. I don't know" It's one thing to take something given to you to use, sure. But if you don't have the creator of the model, Rihis', permission to use it and proper credit given, you can't release it. So it seems you're going to be posting updates here on your progress, but thing is, you're still required to follow our CREDIT RULES and if you don't, we will remove them. And if you decide to create a clan to host this submod because you don't have permission to post the submod here, then you won't be allowed to create any links to the clan here as well. Plain and simple, if you want to use this site to promote your submod, you have to follow our rules and credit requirements.
  3. ACTUALLY: If the model you're using is indeed from the Miami Modification, and was used by Rafael with permission from the author, that doesn't mean you can use it without permission. If EmC Unit made the model (which by the look of things, he's saying he did) you need his EXPLICIT permission to use it. Now, you post IS indeed missing something it's required to have, which is credits. If you're saying you made that entire model, the skin and the lights yourself, then credit just you, if ANYONE else made anything on it, you have to credit them too. So, let's go ahead and put in the correct credits now, shall we? If there's any questions about the rules of this site, please consult the TOS and message a staff member with your questions.
  4. If a mod clearly uses an unaltered version of another mod, then it's not fine. Simply renaming the folders doesn't totally count either. Now if you go ahead and make your own structure, but it's similar to the LA, that's fine. Many mods make it look like they are not using the LA Mod, but often miss a folder or something as a key that gives it away. If you put in a part of a car pack that's meant as a drag and drop modding tool like the car pack (not as a base, since that's not set up that way) then sure, that's fine, so long as you're not using that as over 75% of the mod
  5. Hey everyone, The staff and modding community at Emergency-Planet have determined the need for a differentiation between different levels of mods out there. Since the release of the LA Mod as an open sourced modding tool, the community has changed a lot. We see a lot more mods released, however we've also seen a lot more content sharing. While this is great in one way, allowing the community to have more to enjoy, there is the problem of content crediting. Over the past few months, we've brought in some regulations to try to curb content use without permission and content theft. Those rules have been working good, but we wanted to make one more adjustment to make it clear to people looking the amount of effort put into a mod. This is the reason for a submod/mod distinction. Now all mods that do not have a minimum of 25% content AND their own original structure (not based off of another mod) will be called submods of another mod, to provide homage to the original authors who put in the work to build the original works. One example is a mod that builds itself off of the LA Mod, including new models or scripts, but keeping much of the mod, mostly the setup of the folders (01 LA Police, etc). This mod will be called a submod. If the author decided they wanted to rebuild the mod with its own file structure as a full mod, we'd definitely be okay with calling it a full mod. That type of change over sounds like a lot of work, we know, but in reality it takes only a few hours and in the end, it shows the work you've put in. You can read the full policy here: http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/20681-policy-distinction-between-mod-and-submod/
  6. If the issue is in regards to contacting Hoppah, then the rules are as follows: For any of the content included in the LA Mod, you may use it freely, PROVIDED that you provide proper credits to Hoppah and any other authors involved. For content he has created elsewhere, such as in the NYC or US Army Mods, you can send me a PM for the content request, and I'll let him know next time we're talking For any other user, please send me a PM and I'll get in touch with the user
  7. If a mod uses another mod as a base, it's fine, so long as they don't just copy paste stuff in there and call it a day. It takes very little effort to make your own file structure for your mod, I've done it twice this month and it took an hour. So much as using content from the LA Mod, that's fine too, but you need to incorporate at least a quarter of your own to call it a full mod, otherwise you're not really doing the work to make a "mod" and it's not really fair to the authors that do to class the two the same
  8. Mods that do not meet the requirements for full mod status, which include mods that do not have an original file structure, or greater than 25% original content included are considered sub mods. Looking at several folders in this mod, I see the obvious use of the LA mod as a base, therefore this mod is a submod of the Los Angeles mod. Folders such as Models/Personnel contain the original LA structure (completely unedited) as is the same with Prototypes/Objects and many other instances. If the creator of this mod wishes to discuss further the status of this mod, they may, otherwise there's no discussion needed
  9. As Mindcat pointed out, you didn't credit the models as they really are. Next time you'll lose the post, and get a warning, if not suspension with it. It's fine to say you did work on them, but unless all of those members are on the Gandia Mod Team (which I really really doubt they are) you're flat out stealing the content. Not providing any credit is one thing. Saying the credit is all to your team and none to the original is model theft and will be punished going forward. Let's not do this again please.
  10. In regards to the sub/full mod status, as I've said, if you wish to discuss this further, please contact me by PM. I will not be doing it in this topic, and I'll be deleting every post involved in a discussion about that henceforth
  11. Probably a traffic light. Every script does it different. You'll have to open that copy of the script you have, and read what type of light it lists. It's probably TLR_Red, yellow, or Green. Which one, I don't know though, becuase I don't have that exact script
  12. So that's the EXACT same function the two of us are describing, just a different use for it. Itch uses it for takedown lights, I use it in my mod for standby lights. What you do is look at the script in question, see what type of light it uses, usually a traffic light, and then make your light that type of light, and its enabled.
  13. Talking about it is fine. Sharing it is not. Either way, that's not the point. If you mean interior lights like the ones itchboy showed, then to set those, a certain script available on the German forums allows users to put a command that activates a traffic light (red) I think on that particular prototype, so you just place the types of lights you want as traffic light red instead of bluelight. If you mean how to physically set them up, I find the best method is to place the corona behind the edge of the model as close as possible to it, and build a poly on top of it the shape of the light. Make the corona slightly smaller than the actual light for best effect
  14. What mod are you playing? It's crashing because it's not able to find certain objects it needs. Have you edited this mod at all? Your problem lies with an incomplete file structure, so something's pointing to something that doesn't exist and it's causing a fatal error.
  15. Interior lighting on what? Cars, houses, people? I'm kinda hoping you want the latter. I have always wondered what my firefighters look like inside. If you're talking a button to activate only certain lights, that can be done with a script that triggers traffic lights. What you're asking seems kinda muddled and I don't quite understand
  16. A submod is classified as something with less than one quarter of original content. If you have a map, but your all your vehicles are from different mods, then your content is not original. Skinning does not count towards original content credit. Based on the credits I've read in this topic thus far, it seems all of your models have been outsourced from other projects, with the possible exception of stations (no credit given, so I'm assuming they're yours or I've missed it). While reskins are a good start to a full mod, you do need a minimum of 25% original content. If you have any questions, please send me a PM and we can discuss this further
  17. Absolutely. We encourage you to improve your mods with your own content. If for you that means releasing a small submod first, and eventually working it up with original content, then we'll absolutely move you into the Mod section. As long as a mod has met the requirements, we will happily allow it to become a full mod
  18. Mods have started the move. If you believe one is incorrectly categorized (either as a mod in a submod, or vice versa) please click the REPORT button on the first post, and we'll look into it.
  19. Modification has been approved. Sorry, spent all night on a call, so I didn't get a chance to update until now. It's available on the Emergency-Planet download centre today
  20. Submod has been moved to the correct forum and titled as such
  21. That's a problem with your graphics driver. Make sure it is installed and up to date. If you think it is, upload your dxdiag.exe (windows+r, "dxdiag.exe") and let us take a look
  22. This topic is an area that modders can share content for use in other modifications. The items shared alone cannot constitute a full mod to fit in this topic. Content shared would be items that can be added to a mod, such as models, scripts, sounds, or other content. MODDERS If you plan on opening a topic here, please make sure you're willing to see your work used freely in other mods. We ask all content placed in this forum be allowed to be used in other mods with appropriate credit. USERS When downloading a pack, ensure you read the readme, located in the first post or the archive, for the appropriate methods at which the author wants credit. While we ask that content in here is originally provided on a fair-use credit system, where content can be shared and used in modification works with appropriate credit, authors reserve the right to limit copyright and place other use restrictions on their content.
  23. Any mod in the process of "idea only" or that has no work on it at this time would be posted in here. If you have an idea for a mod, or item in a mod, you can post and discuss it here. If you are in the process of recruiting a team, this area would be where to post your mod. When it has actual work to show, making it a WIP, we can move it there for you. Do this by reporting the first post (as you would for a rule violation) Things to remember: If you're recruiting a team for your mod, no one is going to make it for you. If you cannot haul at least the majority of the workload (lighting a full mod is equivalent to creating one model) you shouldn't be starting a team. If you have questions about where to go with a mod: http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/20295-youre-starting-a-mod-read-this-first/
  24. This topic is going to remain open for people to keep asking questions and the like. I'm going to begin moving topics soon, probably tomorrow pending my schedule, and I'm going to be having this policy announcement in the top of each of them. thank you for your suggestion
