There is Fire and EMS units in this mod as well as police units. The reason why videos have not been released at this time of gameplay is because we are not using a conventional method for gameplay, so this is still in the works. Yeah, there could be an upload of a vehicle on a map we're not using, with it responding to a call that won't exist in the final version, but this would not accurately reflect the final version, or even the first version.
The mod team has decided against the traditional freeplay method, as we didn't find this suitable to our tastes, nor the goal that this mod was set out to achieve. Therefore we are taking a bit more time on this than we would cars, so we don't have gameplay which would accurately represent the mod being released. There will be loads of gameplay released, but because a car takes about 20 or so man hours to get it fully functional, you'll see a lot more of those appearing than the others.
tl;dr: Cars are quicker to finish than a new way to play the game, thus you're seeing what's being done first.
I'm very aware of the 'man hours' it takes, having made several maps etc, I'm just saying, even when I get the first few blocks down I'd show it off in game to demonstrate the gameplay feel, the base Em4 has a distinct feel and different mods have different feels to them. I think it'd be most beneficial to the people following progress to get this feel, rather than snap shots of how a rig will look lit up etc.
Just trying my best to get to see into what it is you guys are doing, not trying to get you to reveal all or anything. Well anyway that's best I can word my thoughts, hope it influences your decisions on what you'll be sharing with the community, I just personally want to get a look beneath the surface of unit shots and light videos after following the mod for 2 years.

on your facebook page there was a station with a divison chief and a battalion chief.. is that going to be in V2 SD or V3?
That's the Standard Def version, one huge firehouse, more to be revealed soon, very different style to our HD versions

I think you miss my point, but fair response.
I think it'd be nice (and I think my opinion reflects many members) to see functionality rather than just models and lighting, as nice as they are. I.e. it's great to see the endless variations of PD and EMS this mod will have to offer, but can we see stuff like, maybe just something as simple as responding to an EMS run in game, which requires minimum - one EMS unit, and about 20 seconds of gaming time.
I don't think people are asking to see the entire mod nicely laid out moments from release, or to be told about features etc, just a glimpse of actual em4 gameplay that shows how things are gonna be running etc.
Just my opinion,it may differ from others'.

Looking good man. Hey thanks for the info about the buildings. Do you know what your settings are now? I have it at 3000, but am not getting any fires. I cant remember what the default setting was....
It doesn't affect the frequency of fires, just the duration
and 200000 but I like mine to burnnnn hahax

Taking a look at the Seagrave ladders (personally my fav) in v3, they've been heavily re-worked since v2

Suspicious luggage in times square,
A woman seen loitering around the area.
Police began to close off the roads entrance to Times Square and ESU and Bomb squad turned up on scene.
The person was confronted by police and arrested at gunpoint.
The bomb squad further inspected the device conforming a small Improvised Explosive Device, after disarming both the baggage and suspect were taken for further investigation.
Times Square was re-opened, with a heavy police presence as a show of force to mitigate any further attempts.

- Actually half decent people models rather than '90s PS1 game style models.
- Hydrant hook ups
- Better scaling of people to vehicles
- Better graphics, better than em2013, they still rather suck

press all 4 directions on the directional arrows and whilst doing that rotate the camera randomly, this used to fix my issue

Ok thanks but in 2.01 (with 20.3 patch) we don't have the ability to change the map manual or do we?
(Because i see the map (Print me for MP) and that's an other map.)

and nope, just the one map in v2, v2sd will have another map entirely, then v3 will have 5

That's our plan as outlined in our update a few posts back, it'll either be automatic or manual (i.e you'll have to sub in different maps you want to use)
All the maps will be centered around midtown

Hi Dyson,
I downloaded teamspeak, but the only mic I have is through a hardwired xbox 360 mic. I couldn't get it working. I also can't manage to log onto the MERU server.
Is changing the specs something that I can do through the editor? If so, what do I need to change? Thanks.
Sorry for the slow response, I use my xbox mic from a usb controller, it works fine, we can help with stuff like that, but as for materials yeah. Open up the mod in the editor and open the materials editor, the burn time sets the length it burns for, all our buildings are assigned to 'airport escalator' (for reasons not worth explaining)

Hey guys, quick question. Is there any way that I can make the building fires harder to put out? Can I go through the editor? I love this mod, but I am finding that the fires go out way too quickly. How can I fix this?
Log onto the MERU, we updated the fire specs for MP play as post-release we noticed this too

i have a question, in version 2.03 i have installed woods map, but the problem now is thet the fire trucks can't return to the station and if the ambulance goes tho hospital it goes to HQ, of the map.... how can i fix this??
This is something I will need to adjust in a proper SD release, I'll need to place the v2 firehouses and set up the VOs as they are in v2 map, then it will all work fine

yea i would have sent Engine 53 and Ladder 43 but had just got them out of bunker gear and set out around the station.
this is just an idea but since christmas is coming up what about a patch with the map with snow and xmas stuff or in v3 you could do that just a thought
Accidentally deleted my original map texture, so no can do I'm afraid, but v3 will have a Christmas version this time next year

Yeah that's it, you log on, you'll be directed to a certain area to get the mod and then given a link, it's only as simple as logging on here to get a link.
Our reasons as I have stated above have been repeated far too much, so yeah that's our policy on v3, if it's too much effort for people to go to, it's no harm to us, after all this is a non-profit mod, we don't have to be public about it.

Version 3 is still being released as MERU only..
Essentially its like us saying, you have to go to a certain website to get the mod, we're not making it private, we're making it more of a hassle to get, so people that actually want it will get it, those that will download, play for 2 seconds and then criticize every aspect of the mod, wont go through the effort.
Sup to you guys, all you have to do is log on to our TeamSpeak one time and you'll get linked up, we've spent the best part of a year working, I think logging on to a server is the least we could ask in return...

Ok guys, it's about time to start promoting our latest venture in Version 3, we've kinda just sat back and worked and not made any effort to get any hype, so now we're probably at the stage where we have a little to show.
Pride of Midtown was revealed over our facebook group, on here today I'm showing a sneak peak into Rescue 1.
Thoughts/feedback is welcomed on both revealed houses, it'd be nice to get some discussion going again, Q&A is welcome, but make it sensible, we would have told you guys if we'd cracked something like limited water haha.

Thanks! We're hoping to just get in a reasonable position, a lot of people who also mod (friends of mine) have never heard of games like this, I think it'd do a lot to make it more wideknown, as other games have after getting mods in the top 100

Ok guys more news,
Besides development going great and us having traffic flowing through midtown and the ability to move around the map with relative ease and the version now playable,
We've also finally cracked the Standard Definition release, we're gonna need to test it on low spec PCs, but we're hoping that w00ds map, with a few edits to make it compatible with our parking set up and scripts, should work.
Hopefully the few that can't play will be able to enjoy our work on w00ds map, I know it sucks you wont have our custom Manhattan maps, but it's the best we can push for

That's about all we want to share for now, we'll be showing off midtown soon in a pre-release announce trailer which will fully show off what we've been doing for the last 6 months, we hope you'll be impressed.

Hmm I own GTA 4 for PC too, I bought it because I wanted to play the game, the mods too. However if you're buying just for the mods then it gets boring fast. The mods are really cool, but with constant random crashes due to one script or another, or just getting bored of sitting in a cruiser going to the same calls over and over.
But it is mega cool, I'd just say buy it for the game and have the mods as an extra
that's what I did, I had GTA 4 on Xbox, but bought EFLC for PC, that way I can still play 2 story lines to keep me interested as well as playing all kinds of crazy mods.Btw make sure your PC can handle it too, I bought a new PC just to play games like GTA etc

Ahh something like that would be exactly what I'm looking for yes, but for this mod not LA yeah. Just something to show off the mod, as a mod rather than a light show kinda thing, even just pictures would be cool. Just to look at how the mod will play out, I'm not trying to rush the reveal of stuff or anything, that's not my intention, purely my own curiosity, just thought my comments may spur some gameplay related reveals in the near future.
As for stirring the pot.. I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at there, I'm asking questions, had no idea that wasn't permitted, there is no hostility in my tone, and I'd challenge you to find a time on these forums I've ever 'stirred the pot'. I'm good friends with Chad and at a time was close with the progress of the mod from the inside.
So climb down off that high horse of yours, yeah?
