Agreed, I think because the game is fairly basic yet modders are pushing the game engine to its very limits it packs out high levels of RAM usage, but isn't really anything to worry about compared with the likes of GTA.

It has been noted before gentlemen that unlike a certain other mod; this mod you will not need a 100% top of the line graphics card. The staff is making it so everyone can play. While the trucks and cars will be of a high quality models, the map will be like a typical Canadian mini city (in others words the houses evenly spaced out).
So don't worry guys

I don't know any mod that requires top of the range graphics cards. We ran into issues with some graphics cards due to them being pretty crappy, specs has very little to do with it besides lag, it was mainly a hardware issue. And as you are still using mainly if not completely em4 buildings I don't see you'll have an issue as the issue was caused due to the additional anti-aliasing because of the significant amount of new detailed buildings we created and used from GTA. So besides the possibility of a little lag you'll be fine.

Hmm, how about creating 'snow models' that can be bulldozed away (replacing the bulldozer of course) and a simple script that respawns the snow over time? I dunno it's a lot of work but an idea how to fully implement

-
Make the skin a .jpg image rather than a .dds. Link the model file to the new skin (you know how to do that I assume...) and it should work. That's what I did...
^ yup or png

When was this first announced? seems like I have seen this mod W.I.P for years now!!
12th Jan 2011, check the first post. But I think compared to the New York Mod which is still one of the most renowned mods, spanning 5 years of development and no release.
-
well excuse the hell outta me...
Dude, I just defended you. But you're clearly trying to give out sly digs. Voodoo has asked to go back to topic, so I apologize but I think your post is in need of a response. Plus the double post.
Mods don't piggyback of the LA mod. Hoppah brought a lot of scripts, which existed throughout the world of em4 but were edited by hoppah, into one single mod. So the mod is like a huge fully functioning script packet, perfect as a base for mods rather than starting from the original game.
Besides which I don't see the issue, if mods are surely just 'piggybacking', then there's no issue, if you don't like a mod, don't follow it. Simple.
Anyway back to topic, I'd like to see more progress not spam.

not to sound mean but why the reskins? id like to see something else...
I think this was aimed as constructive, but the delivery wasn't that great.
First up, @kameronbc21 most mods are born out of simple reskins. People learn as they go along, that's how I work, that's how most work.
Without the starting point of changing a few skins most people would never get into tweaking this game as it is rather overwhelming.
To everyone else, point made, but don't act like he just tea-bagged y'all, every mod gets hate, trust me if you saw some of the outrageous things I get sent on a regular basis you'd think this was pretty harmless.
Anyway, not playing mod, just wanted to add a little perspective.

Is there anyone with the London, LA Or NY Mod that are regularly online who would like to play some games with me online, as long as your english speaking i dont mind, dont really care if you dont have a mic. As long as you know how to play the game and can speak english.
Please Message me, Thanks
Well playing individuals is pretty rare, however you can join MP groups or 'Clans' (a term I hate) that host regular games.
Myself and Rafael run a MP group for our mod.
There's also the Squad 44 which is essentially a submod of LA, new skins, new models etc.
I think there's also some UK groups, just have a browse, but you'll likely need to join one to play MP.

where can i find the 2.0 standard version? not the high whit the gta iv buildings.
Anyone that can play v2 can play map #1 #2 & #3. If your PC could not handle v2 due to the reasons previously discussed, you will only be able to run map #3, which means you miss out on Times Square and Grand Central St, but will still be able to use all the v3 models and scripts.
x
As I stated in the above post, we decided to include a SD v3 map rather than taking a step backwards and returning to v2. It will be map #3.

If I was to put lights on a lightbar as it's own object, then attached that object as a child to another object, would it still retain it's lights that I put on it initially?
Thanks in advance

No, you will need to add on the vehicle

a little too wide?
Ahh looks fine from that angle

Nice video Dyson.
I really like (from what I can see) the traffic volume. Seems to be a nice mix and right in the middle of V2 and V1.
That is what I really missed the most from V1, the feel of the "chaotic" streets of NYC.
Yeah that was a big thing in v3, we wanted to up the traffic. The traffic is thick, but easy to maneuver. Also simply sticking a squad at the bottom or top (depending on flow direction) and using the block traffic command will quickly block the entire avenue, this is specifically set up to allow maximum traffic control as soon as possible to avoid tailbacks and jams.

Looking amazing, just hope my PC's up to it
Looking forward to HazMat in action

They're models and protos, nothing to do with hose length, but yeah I'm just gonna leave you to it.
-
Proud to release v3 full reveal trailer, this focuses on map#1 and is still in the development stage, but we now feel shortly after entering the new year that we can begin to properly show off map#1 - Times Square.
Feedback from the community would be great!
We've put about 6-7 months solid work into v3 already now, so we really hope to re-ignite some discussion on this forum as interest seems to be drying up.
Let us know what you want to see screens of and we'll do our best to show you!

Hazmat in action will be the next video uploaded, so wait around for that too!

lol, thanks and I've started with a issue xd, my em 4 editor won't start

Well for a start you can't edit scripts in the editor and check your resolution in em4.cfg is correct, run as admin if that still fails then beats me.
-
I do always say, issues are there to be Solved xd.
Well, err good luck then
-
Nearly every editor has the variable "if", but I'll try to script.
yes as I stated above ^
but god luck, I think you may run into issue though if you have no indication as to the variables that affect the hose length. -
It's possible to script it and hard coded maybe, if the editor has a script editor it must be possible to do it with the variable "if"
It may well be possible to overwrite the base with a script perhaps yes, but there's no indication as to any of the parameters that dictate the length, as you would find if you were say editing another script, where someone has already defined the terms that will edit the game. As for the variable 'if', that's just a general scripting term used in almost all scripts, but as highlighted above, you'll need to know specific variables from within the game to actually be able to edit.
-
How does the script editor look like? I don't know how to open it.
I don't understand your question, but let me re-iterate. It's probably not something you can edit, it will be in the game's core files, that are hidden, part of the actual game engine.
