  1. If you thought EM2013 graphics were good enough, I can say they really weren't much of an improvement over EM4. By the way, EM4 is also called 911: First Responders and is sold by Atari. Here's the link: http://www.atari.com/buy-games/simulation/911-first-responders
  2. Welcome to the forums! Seems like your problem is that you have purchased a sh***y game. I'm afraid that there isn't much that can be done, especially since Steam isn't too keen on refunds, and the amount of funks given by the developer appears to be minimal. We used to have a dedicated EM2012 section on the site (I believe EM2013 is just a "yearly update" of EM2012), but since very few people were using the game (no moddability and terrible gameplay tend to kill a game pretty quick), the section was removed. My best advice would be to voice your concerns directly to the developer, Deep Silver, and hope that some fixes make it to an eventual patch. But frankly, I wouldn't bet on it. This community has given up on Emergency 2012/2013. We're hoping that Emergency 5 will be less of a disappointment.
  3. If you look at Rockstar Games' release history for the past 10 years, console VS PC (excluding mobile/handheld consoles): GTA III: PC version out 7 months later State of Emergency: PC version out about a year and a half later GTA Vice City: PC version out 6 months later Midnight Club 2: PC version out 3 months later Max Payne 2: PC version out 1 month before console Manhunt: PC version out 5 months later Red Dead Revolver: No PC version GTA San Andreas: PC version out 7 months later Midnight Club 3: No PC version GTA IV: PC version out 7 months later Manhunt 2: PC version out a week later Midnight Club Los Angeles: No PC version GTA IV Episodes from Liberty City: PC version 6 months later (same for PS3, Xbox had an exclusivity agreement) Red Dead Redemption: No PC version L.A. Noire: PC version out 6 months later Max Payne 3: PC version out 15 days later Draw your own conclusions. My guess is that GTA 5's PC version will be available roughly around the same date next year, give or take a month. Interesting fact: The Midnight Club and Red Dead series are developed by Rockstar San Diego, and it seems like they do not port their titles to PC. However, Rockstar San Diego used to be called Angel Studios, and you may remember them for creating Midtown Madness 1 & 2, popular PC-exclusive racing titles of the late 90s-early 2000s, which are among the first racing games to feature an open-world map, and which have greatly inspired the Midnight Club series.
  4. As far as I know, it can't be done - at least not in a fully-functional way. Besides, it would serve no purpose in the game as there are no situations that require utility crews to climb up a pole.
  5. I guess you missed all those times lately where Harper openly voiced his support to Israel. Canadian delegates are known to walk out of the room when the colorful Iran dude speaks at the UN. We do mind, it's just that whatever happens, we don't really have our own means to do something about it - adding the "Royal" prefix to our military doesn't make them suddenly more awesome. At the moment it's just an expensive taxi service for VIPs and/or sandbag laying service in case of flooding... If they ever make one (emphasis on "if" and "one"), I'd say it's more likely to blow up right in their face than ever being used against someone else. Worse case scenario, they might make one that works and just use it as a madman's leverage tool ("Tsk tsk tsk, no you don't, we have bomb!")
  6. Stalin Bin Laden. In other words, you get the added bonus of gradual religious extremism. I'm not saying dictatorial regimes are any good (Al-Assad, Gaddafi, Mubarak, Hussein, etc), but for some reason they usually go easy on enabling and enforcing religious laws - if you want to preach your own cult of personality, it gets hard to preach obedience to another god (lest you claim yourself to be said god's envoy, but then people seem to realize much quicker that you're missing a few nuts and bolts and show you the door) The problem is that when the dictator is ousted and people get a chance to vote, the more progressive option is almost non-existent - or forgotten. People usually have to choose between a party that rallies members of the fallen oppressive government (yeah, trustworthy guys, aren't they?) or a "party of the people" that just so happens to preach religious values (separation of church and state, anyone?). Guess who always ends up winning. Sure, the evil dictator is gone and people get to vote. But then what happens? Women start wearing shrouds, prayer becomes mandatory, and so on. Remember, as weird as it may sound, Iran is a democracy (a shifty one, but hey). Thing is, Westerners wished that the Arab Spring countries would become more like Turkey, but they're rather turning into Iran. Look at how things are doing right now in the Middle East and tell me if we need more Irans.
  7. Is that the show where Rahm Emmanual shamelessly played himself as the messianic mayor of Chicago? That part was seriously pathetic. I've seen product placement before, but political placement? And please. Two hot chick paramedics, and one of them's a lesbian? Why not make them wear sexy nurse outfits while we're at it? Here, Robert Rodriguez did it right, with the added bonus that they were twins (and, creepily enough, his nieces). Also, they were wielding machine guns:
  8. Nope, not in GTA. But you've got Red Dead Redemption to thank for giving Rockstar a way to experiment with animals in an open world game.
  9. Hmmm, nothing like this in the official trailer. Then again, judging by the SPPD, I think you've been treated to a fake made with APB Reloaded.
  10. Hmmm... that's an old article (last March)... Lots of information in that article has been proven false by the recent wave of official details (everything about the main character, for example), the rest is vague assumptions and speculative features.
  11. About the size of the map, as I said, it's reported to be slightly bigger than the maps of GTA IV, RDR and GTA:SA combined. Reports vary on the actual size, with many mentions of the map being about 3 times the size of the RDR map. Apparently this could be up to 5 times if you count the surrounding bodies of water. I've seen that van too, it did intrigue me. The door badge, albeit blurry, seems bigger and different than the LAPD/LSPD badge seen on standard patrol cars - I'm wondering if it's a different agency (most likely County Sheriff). There is another shot taken behind the Vinewood sign that shows all white police cruisers with a different door badge as well - I don't know if they're the equivalent of the NOoSE cruisers in IV, or something different - park police, maybe? Oh and the SA plates have been there since the very beginning (1st trailer a year ago).
  12. Had to do something radical, but hopefully there should be much less spam from now on.

That won't be necessary, I think we've got the situation under control. The only spambot activity I noticed today was from bots that had already registered before I set up the new email restrictions. Just a matter of catching those stragglers now...

Well if you guys need any help I'm up for anything. Let me know.

  13. I gathered my news from articles on GTA Gaming, IGN and scans of Game Informer's December issue. You can find the screenshots and artwork here: http://www.gtagaming.com/v/media
  14. Well it's a Rockstar game. And they don't pump a GTA out every year. So I'd say I'm confident it'll live up to the hype.
  15. There's been several developments concerning GTA V in the last few days, including Game Informer's December issue which reveals important information about the game. Here's some highlights: -The main characters have been revealed - and yes, that does mean there are more than 1 playable character this time around, confirming rumors that have been going around since the game has been announced. They are Michael, a middle-aged man living a lavish lifestyle under witness protection - he is the mysterious man seen in the first trailer who was rumored to be Tommy Vercetti or a new character named Albert Da Silva; Franklin, an african-american man in his 20s, working as a repo man - he is the character seen running from the police in the trailer, and rumored to be C.J. from San Andreas; and Trevor, another middle-aged man and an ex-military pilot who lives in a trailer and is apparently the craziest of the trio. The three men work as a crew and you get to play as all three during missions, switching between different roles. While outside of missions, you can switch between them at will. They all have their own personnalities, lifestyles and friends. -The map is, according to Rockstar, bigger than the maps of Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and San Andreas combined. If you've been playing these games, you'll know this is terrifyingly huge. Apart from the city of Los Santos, Mount Chiliad will be present on the map, as well as several areas including forests, deserts, wine country, a dam and a military base. The ocean is also said to be fully explorable (so you might expect to go scuba diving at some point). No word or evidence yet of snowy areas despite the vehicular clues that had been found earlier this year in hidden Max Payne code... then again, this is southern California, so it would have been surprising (there's still Mount Chiliad, though). -The three main characters are a heist crew, which means you can expect to see plenty of exciting heist missions like the famous "Three Leaf Clover" heist from GTA IV. - Minigames, side missions and random encounters are back, drawing from the experiences of GTA IV and RDR. Each character will have specific activities that only he can engage in, depending on his interests. Such activities include skydiving, golf (an entire course, not just a driving range like in TBOGT), tennis, and, strangely enough, yoga. The random encounter system from Red Dead Redemption has been adapted to GTA - expect things such as broken-down cars, hitchhikers, drug deals gone wrong in the desert and such. - The phone system is back, but is said to be a smartphone this time, with the ability to go on the Internet. Artwork released last week shows a woman in a bikini holding an obvious iPhone parody dubbed iFruit, with a logo that reminds of Apple's logo and, well... something else. There are also other forms of entertainment in the game, but Rockstar has not given much more information at this point (TV? Venues?) - Character cameos from the GTA3 era (GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas) have been definitely ruled out (should I say "again", as they had already been ruled out back when GTA IV came out). However, Rockstar has strongly hinted at cameos from the GTA IV era (GTA IV, TLAD and TBOGT). Obviously, it would ruin the surprise if they said who exactly it's going to be, but Niko has been specifically ruled out. -Several weapons are seen in screenshots and artwork, with apparent customization: M4 with scope and silencer, HK53, Uzi with stock, silenced AK, scopeless TAR-21, shotgun (unknown type) and PSG-1. And finally, some vehicles I observed from the latest screenshots and artwork: -A late-model Mustang lookalike - could it be the Stallion finally being updated from the old version that has been used since GTA3? -A Comet (Porsche 911) with a spoiler reminiscent of a 911 GT2. -The Buzzard helicopter (a.k.a Littlebird) from TBOGT makes a return. -An Audi R8 Spyder lookalike, even with a logo that looks like the Audi logo cut in half. -The Patriot (Hummer H2) is back. -A Lotus Elise or Tesla Roadster lookalike. -A Mercedes G series SUV lookalike. -Possibly a Toyota Hilux or Tundra pickup lookalike (hard to tell as it's on fire in the screenshot) -The Crown Victoria lookalike used for taxis and police has definitely been updated to a newer-looking version, not the 97 version seen in GTA IV and in the first V trailer. -The preferred paint scheme for taxis seems to be the blue and yellow scheme from the Los Angeles Checker Cab Co. -A farm tractor, brand unknown. -A Volkswagen Combi lookalike, possibly called Camper like in San Andreas. -Possibly a Jeep Grand Cherokee lookalike (hard to tell as it's also on fire in the screenshot) -Artwork shows a Cadillac look-alike that could be the Emperor from GTA IV, or perhaps the Greenwood. -A new civilian helicopter, possibly based on an Aerospatiale AS350 -A quad, brand unknown.

oh ok. Yeah they seem very annoying.

  17. Oh, Liveleak... the world's number one source of footage of russian car crashes, brazilian gangland murders, syrian sniper headshots and chinese murderous lunatics.
  18. 1- Standard font size is big enough. Please don't play with font size unless absolutely necessary (which pretty much never happens). 2- YOU DON'T NEED TO TYPE YOUR TITLE IN ALL CAPS, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE YELLING.
  19. I'm pretty sure he meant the one on the fake dollar bill. The one who looks like Kane.
  20. Oh ok, so no finished product then... Heh, let it go. We got exactly the kind of resolution we were looking for here, let's not push it any further.
  21. To be fair, yes. But... if you had actually made a song, out of sheer curiosity, I'd like to hear it.
