  1. It's called offline gaming. Storing saved games on that hefty 1 terabyte hard disk that every computer has these days, instead of treating each and every gamer like a common thief who has to be tethered to a remote server to play the game that he legally purchased. This trend should be discouraged by not purchasing games that resort to such despicable methods. But of course, it's not happening... people open their wallets and hand large wads of their hard-earned cash to EA to get a "Server not found" error in return. And maybe 2 or 3 years from now - perhaps even less - EA decides it's not profitable to leave servers online for that game anymore, and one day you log in only to get a message that says "This game is no longer available, thanks for playing!" - or "Time to upgrade to Sim City 2! - that'll be another 50 bucks please!" I was discussing this with a colleague today. 10 years after its release, Sim City 4 is still alive and well, with a thriving modding community. We agreed that it most certainly won't be the case with the new Sim City, 10 years from now.
  2. I did. Sort of. You guys just kept piling more and more replies over it. Edit: Nevermind. NFK came in stronger. Damn, I'm really losing my special moderating touch lately, I don't know what's up with me.
  3. No thanks. I don't support games that force you to be online at all times and save your progress in the cloud.
  4. Oh. I see. Say, would you mind snapping out of it? I let you off without any warnings despite your foul language, and I believe Hoppah has given you an honest answer. Time to let that one go before you make a fool of yourself. Okay?
  5. Butthurt much? Mind the language, would you? Oh and I think this gif sums up your reaction better than the Jim Carrey one, but maybe that's just me:
  6. Germans and their simulators... What do you expect from a country that has simulators for: Trucks Farming Buses Woodcutting Ski resorts Port operations Street sweeping Garbage collection Mail/parcel delivery Airport control tower operations Airport firefighting Stone quarry Snowcat Mining Cranes Diggers Construction Towing Blasting operations Road works Skyscraper construction Subways Water park operation Welding HAZMAT operations City driving Offshore platforms Surgery Bungee Bridge building ... Yeah, and this is not an exhaustive list. I just looked at the search results on a site for "Simulator". And several of these activities are covered by more than one game/franchise. So yeah... I guess the porta-potty simulator just had to be made at some point...
  7. Most models for EM4 are very low poly so it's the other way around... they'd probably look terrible when scaled up in NFS.
  8. The last time I tried playing it was a couple years ago, I'm not even sure I still have the game CD. I'll give that thing a try though... NFS models do work in EM4... at least the earlier, low-poly ones. I would suggest getting rid of the interiors though, and making the glass opaque. If you can cut on polies, it's a good idea too. I believe the Crown Vic model used by Hoppah in the LA mod actually came from a NFS model... (could even be the HP2 Crown Vic, I'm not sure about this one)
  9. Haha! Yeah, I was... but that was - wow, time flies - about 12 years ago. I'm amazed that there's still some modding going on for a game that I can't even get to run on my PC because it won't recognize my relatively recent graphics card as something that exists. I'm particularly proud about the last cars I made for NFS based off the Dodge Diplomat. I see you've got 2 there, the CHP cruiser (by far my best) and the SQ Caravelle. I'm pretty sure at some point I also made a Nevada HP slicktop, but I can't find it on your site. If I still have the file somewhere, I'll send it your way.
  10. This amazing first post has also earned you your first warning. Good job. Locked.
  11. You might want to take a look at the civilian character models. There might be one there that fits your needs.
  12. I'm still holding out until they confirm you can dress as a priest, grab a choir girl's ass and make a silly O face.
  13. Good luck. I'll believe it when I see it, but we're talking about the game where the only known method to animate objects or add anything to a person model is to mess around for hours with lines of code.
  14. I'm pretty sure this is very much impossible. There is no way to "rework the bones" and "recycle the animations". Besides, the GTA 4 characters have bones of their own. Even if it could be done, you have to take into consideration the staggering amount of polies in GTA 4 versus EM4. I'm pretty sure that would murder the game engine in a matter of seconds. Unless of course you know something I don't. But I doubt it. So don't get your hopes up for nothing.
  15. Oh, never mind, sorry. I thought you meant your cousin already had the game and made a copy for you. My bad. You know, I'll give him the benefit of doubt on this one. It's kind of a grey area, and it seems to me like he has done this in good faith. Besides, from my understanding, it's not a "resale" as he sent the money to his cousin first, and then his cousin made the purchase with said money. It's kind of like giving your friend some money to go get something from the store for you. I, for one, think that in this day and age, especially with the availability of several legal downloading platforms, publishers should make sure their games are available worldwide (minus maybe the handful of countries under embargo). Not doing so cuts them from possible markets (and revenue), and encourages people to downright pirate the games by obtaining them from torrents. They should consider themselves so lucky that people like Kevin attempt the closest possible thing to a 100% legal purchase.
  16. What you did is called software piracy, and is just as illegal as obtaining the game from a torrent. We will not be able to assist you with a pirated copy of the game.
  17. For the record, and for everyone to make their own opinion, here is the message you received along with your warning: Now here's an excerpt of what you just posted: So obviously, you don't get the point. At all. So I'm going to write it in big, red, bold, underlined capital letters, hoping you'll understand this time: DO NOT POST THE SAME QUESTION IN MULTIPLE TOPICS. ONE (1) IS ENOUGH. Now I did say I'd ban you for posting the same question again, and you just did. I'm letting it slide just this once. Consider this your one and only chance.
  18. Asking the same question in a second topic won't get you any more help. Locked.
  19. Since you seem to have a hard time using the Edit button, I went ahead and merged your consecutive posts for you. But that service doesn't come free. It just cost you 1 warning point.
  20. Ditto. Rushed games always end up being disappointing (I'm looking at you, EA). You've got to hand it to Rockstar, they'll delay their games over and over again, but at least you get an actual finished result when they're done.
  21. Thread cleaned up. HDMods, use the Edit button instead of making 2 posts in a row, or receive a warning next time. Thank you. Back to topic everyone.
  22. Yeah. 5 months ago. Topic closed, +1 warn for bringing up dead topic.
