  1. There already is a script for the tiller in FS1.
  2. You can get W7 on Newegg for approx. $100. Make sure you get the 64-bit version so you can use all the RAM.
  3. Looks decent. I would go with an Intel platform but that's just me. Is that liquid cooler an all-in-one like the corsair H70 or is it a full loop with seperate pump, waterblock and rad? Water cooling can be a PITA sometimes. You probably don't need a 1TB drive either, save some money there. Does that computer come with an operating system? It doesn't look like it.
  4. No, they keep it at the County of LA fire museum in bellflower. Here's a pic of the restored SQ51 and a new Dodge squad from the most recent purchase The Dodge shown is not going to FS51. County just put the 51 plates on the squad for the open house to show the old restored squad next to the newest ones. Station 51 is in Universal City and used to be station 60. The number was changed as homage to the show Emergency!
  5. That's probably the minimum requirements. A GT 430 should be more than enough. Anybody know if EM2012 will support DX11?
  6. I wondered about that because the 300 series cards are all OEM only. It's a entry level card. I believe it's a rebranded GT 210. It's good for HD playback and light gaming and that's about it. Whhat you could do is buy a computer and then install a GT 430 yourself.
  7. Spring for a GT 430. It just came out. It supports DX 11. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130579&Tpk=EVGA%20GT%20430
  8. LA city has 19 new RAs on order from Braun Northwest based on the 2011 Dodge 4500. Looks like no more type III RAs for LAFD. They're going with Dodge just like the county did with their new squads.
  9. That LED vector is interesting. All they did was replace the bulb with LEDs. Most of the time LEDs completely replace the rotator as well as the bulb.
  10. The purpose of the Air-Kwik system is to give units that would not normally carry a pump/tank some sort of emergency fire supression system besides a few dry chemical/pressurized water extingushers that can be utilized to attack the fire until an engine arrives. It's not really supposed to be a replacement for a pump. LAFD has a few plug-buggies with them installed and I believe the most recent purchase of TDAs carries one as well. Obviously you're not going to be fighting a fire with an 80 gallon system on a truck for any length of time. I believe HAZMAT units also use them for local/immediate decontamination using some sort of decon foam added to the tank.
  11. The term "Q" is generally a term for any mechanical siren on an emergency vehicle. The "real" Q is the Federal Signal Q2B, which is primarilly found on fire engines because the Q2B draws 100 amps from the electrical system of the vehicle. Police cars and RAs don't have an electrical system powerful enough. There also is an electronic version of the Q2B, called the E-Q2B. In LA city, both the engines and the trucks have the Q2B in addition to an electronic siren. RAs have either a Timberwolf siren (which sounds similar to a Q but not quite the same), or the E-Q2B, which sounds identical to the Q2B. Some older RAs only have an electronic siren. Police cars only use an electronic siren.
  12. Yes, it has a Q. Do a search or ask MikesPhotos for details.
  13. How about you just throw an Air-Kwik system on an ambulance so it has some fire suppression capabilities? It can be fitted on almost any vehicle. http://www.air-kwik.com/index.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikesphotos_us/4593936522/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikesphotos_us/4452955092/
  14. This is exactly the thinking behind the light force concept that LAFD uses, and look how sucessful they have been over the years. Engines with transport capabilities are nothing new. They have been around for quite a while but they're not very popular. I believe the idea behind them is to supplement the regular ambulances, not completely replace them.
  15. Anything with at least a dual-core and a dedicated GPU will do you fine. Dell makes some quality desktops and laptops, although you probably will have to upgrade the GPU and RAM on some of the lower-end Dell desktops. Both of those things are very easy to do by yourself once you purchase the computer.
  16. It's completely fictional. LAFD only uses RAs based on the Econoline chassis.
  17. Did they just bump the release date back to January? I could swear that Amazon said it was supposed to come out on October 5th.
  18. I usually dispatch a TF and an ALS RA to all structure fire calls with additional units as needed. Car fires will get a LF and RA, while accidents with entrapment will get a TF, RAs as needed, and maybe a USAR or HR if the accident is serious. Brush assignments will get several engines, an RA, and maybe a BP or two. If the brush fire is threatening structures, a LF will be added. Medical runs will get the closest ALS resource (AE or RA, maybe even a county squad if they're the closest) and a BLS RA for transport. If the BLS RA is tied up I'll transport with an ALS unit but I try to avoid that in order to keep the paramedics available. I only patrol with three police cars, one for each patrol path, and I'll also have an empty police helicopter and a medical helicopter staffed with one FF/PM stretcher team at their respective helipads.
  19. That should be relatively easy to do, all that would need to be done would be to change the timing in the BC script.
  20. If you're thinking of starting any sort of mod I would hold off because Emergency 2012 is just around the corner. I would wait and see what E2012 brings before starting anything for EM4.
  21. It sounds like some of the commands are missing. Try reinstalling the mod.
  22. Probably not, seeing as they're not going to be 100% accurate.
  23. No video card is plug and play, all video cards require drivers. Can you provide more info about your current video adaptor? The dxdiag is missing some info. A good starter gard is the GT 240. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130542&cm_re=EVGA_GT_240-_-14-130-542-_-Product
  24. I did see the video. They looked very unprofessional.
  25. I'm a little confused as to what you mean. Both the LTI and the ALF tillers are realistic. LAFD does use some old LTIs still.
