Submod: New Freeplay Map Second Edition - update
Xplorer4x4 replied to w00d's topic in Submods [Not released]
^did you read the topic enough to learn to rename the files, and what to rename the files to? -
What makes you baby it out of the station? I never have a problem with the point and click method.

^Im guessing the tillerman position atleast requires extra training atleast? Anyways, this is kind of off topic but do the Firefighter Challenges Sponsored by Scott happen all over the country and generally draw alot of tourism if so? Reason I ask is apparently the past 5 years we have hosted the/a challenge here in Evansville. I went last year, but wasnt aware it happened in the past. Apparently the committee in charge is considering not bringing it in this year because of budget problems, but supposedly the firefighters are trying to find alternative ways to bring it to town because it draws alot of tourism and boost the local economy. Do you have a clue what I am talking about?

Thanks for the CDL clarification Mike. I'm not sure of the restrictions for the inner city departments, but I asked a firefighter at one of the volly stations across town and he said he wasnt sure how it worked but they were not required to have a CDL. There main engine only has 2 axles while the reserve is an old school(newly refurbished and looking quite good with out a yellow paint job) 1981 Duplex/Oshkosh/Pierce Pumper/Tanker - 1250gpm/2000gal but it does have 3 axels but perhaps it manages to stay under the weight limit? -
No More Red Lights and Sirens for USFS Region 3

Of course its not needed on air craft. Compare air traffic, where aircraft can move freely vs a vehicle which is, generally, confined to a road. A helicopter, for example, weahter it be something like a Firehawk,PD Chopper, or Air Evac chopper, arent dealing with the any where close to the same volume of traffic that a fire truck or ground based emergency vehicle deals with, and for that matter an aircraft has added maneuverability as they can go up and down as well as side to side. But when they start to look a big green truck with red lights vs a big green truck is going to stand out and allow people to determine the best course of action to allow the emergency vehicle safe passage. -

Mike does LA require a CDL to drive the major apertures(engines, quints, etc, obviously any one can drive something like the HES).? -
Say you have a fire station operated by the city, but you have a Volunteer station, covering part of a Township, located 1 Mile away from the city operated station. Is it likely that central dispatch has some sort of system as to which company responds due to the emergency at hand. Fore example, medical assistance runs can be handled by the Volly company, while firers would be handled by the city? I ask this because the the Volly company handles medical runs in the area all the time, but any time a fire breaks out, which is usually after night, the city fire dept handles the runs. The volly station has 2 pumpers, and a quint, plus another pumper at another station not far away. The main station is staffed 24/7 though. Could it be the city generally feels there in equipped in man power to handle fires in city limits as opposed to out side city limits where the houses are more spread out and wildfires are non existent in this area.?

Thanks for clearing that up Mike. Its interesting to know. I never realized there was such a standard. -
Having LAX units in the mod seems all the more reason to have a mini LAX on the new map, but thats another debate for another thread. To the person above, yes its Los Angeles International Airport. I believe the X is for International, kind of like you see signs that say Ped X-ing.
-
I personally like having LAX Units. They dont get alot of use, but I do get some use out of them.

^this aint LA. Not even relatively close to the same state. -
Well the main theory video out there imo, is Loose Change, and there stance was planes AND bombs. If the information or atleast parts of the information portrayed in Loose Change, a documentary/conspiracy theory video I find very interesting, it makes you think...since the bombs were brought up, i question what was with parts of the building shooting out story below it colapsed. Perhaps this is something a good engineer could in fact debunk, but personally I havent seen it debunked.

Car? Thats a full fledged fire truck. No wonder it was wrecked. I have driven a semi before,(with no trailer attached) and it while its not extremely hard drive at typical speeds in low traffic environments, I can imagine how easy it would be to crash one of these trucks at high speeds.

Mike, if i may what are your thoughts on that? Im not familar with the area but i would think the trucks deserve to have red lights and sirens as surley these trucks have to travel major road ways dont they? -
Put Grillers Cafe in there. Thats my favorite place to eat in Chi town!
-
Mike do all departments use those? Is it strictly affect cameras? Like if your next to an LAPD cruiser in traffic would you be able to see the screen clearly?
-
Me or the guy I quoted?
-
Yeah it depends on how long you hear the siren for as theres a few different tones but for the most part the constant wail is the same, atleast here it is. I would imagine in some places the PD and EMS use completely different sounding sirens.
-
They already have hand helds and cb radios in there vehicles, why the need for more communication? Espicaly something that big.
-
^depends where you live but there is no mistaking a Federal Q so if you here a Q you know its a fire truck. As for police and ambulances sounding the same, yes, maybe in some places but i dont know if its enough to classify the whole country into using the same sirens.

Is the Jail at the LASD building?

Have you tried anything in the FAQ forum? On top of that you may have to use the compatibility wizard to make it run like WinXP or Vista..
