St John Ambulance - Get to know other cadets etc, show off your kit!

Recommended Posts

Where did my post go? Strange...

Anyway, our First Aid Post treated about 100 casualties, absolutely manic, lots of drug use and overdosing - silly people. Overall, really enjoyed it, if anyone from anywhere in the country wants to help (St John wise) I think you can sign up :)

Sounds fun :)

I've done the Opening Olympics in Weymouth (Where the sailing is held) And I've been invited to join London SJA on the Closing Ceremony, Looking forward to that.

It measures their pulse (top number: PRbpm - Pulse Rate beats per minute) and SpO2 (bottom number: Saturation of Peripheral Oxygen), which is the saturation of Oxygen within the patient's blood. If its getting lower than 95% you need to be putting them on O2. You can play with them though. BARC - if you take your reading and its 97%, breathe deeply and quickly, try and make it reach 99%, it does work - just try not to pass out :D

£19.99 is very cheap, I hope it works, an ambulance quality one is £50+ Also, we've been told we have to use St John ones in Bucks so they're properly configured or something like that - a bit silly really.

Just ordered a Argus Large Trauma Bag from SP Services (Like the one in the first post of this topic. but in green) along with some other bits and bobs. Ill post some pictures when it arrives.

And i was at camp last week, dealt with a few falls, blisters, sprained ankles, burnt hands, but thankfully nothing much :)

Inside smaller first aid kit (bottom right compartment of the main 3 compartments of the bag)

Contains a few rollon stuff and sprays (so theyre not rolling around the kit) about 20 antiseptic wipes, 100's of plasters (child ones with pictures and normal ones) and 2 support bandages)

Nice kit if you use it :D Meant to ask, how often do you guys go out with your own kit? I've been on duty with mine three times, never needed it. All the other times I take out a divisional kit so I can carry O2 and AED along with enough PRF's, Normasol, Gloves etc. that are appropriate for the duty :)

Oh and BARC, what's your training and insurance level? Who do you use FIrst Aid on under who's authority? Obviously you're an Army Cadet but you have a First Responder hat in your photo...

Was meant to say first aider, but that's what came. And just got a new backpack from Swift Paramedical Supplies, wanna see?
