  1. To get to the editor you must make a copy of the em4 shortcut on your desktop, then for identification purposes give it a different name. Next right click on it and go to properties. Now be sure you are on the "shortcut" tab and you should see an area labeled "target" Click on the end of that area, after where it says something like "/emergency4/em4.exe". hit space and type "-editor", So now it looks like this

    "/emergency4/em4.exe" -editor

From here, just apply the changes and when you click on the shortcut it should load the editor instead of the game, have fun!

  2. I think  Emergency 5 was a flunk because the devs  decided to try to make a full game that could be enjoyed by itself, unlike how emergency 4 was pretty boring by itself but still had a well thought out modding system. I would have thought that by now Sixteen Tons had figured out the only reason they are still in business is because of the modders.

Personally, I see the future like this: Eventually Some one is going to make a break-through in em5 modding and we are gonna get something similar to the LA mod, But still half of the community will be able to enjoy it due to the formation of other community's for other upcoming games (Emergenyc, Notruf 112, etc.) And em4 modding is just gonna go downhill. I hate to say it, but the peak of our group was a long, long time ago.

  3. every map is the same size, you just are sometimes only limited to a smaller portion, the map texture is centered in the middle of the map, and just repeats when it reaches the end of a side, the reason you don't see the repeated parts is because you are limited to seeing only a portion of the map, in order to have more of the map playable, you must add on to a texture that's already made and import it into the editor, then, you must widen the map boundaries more aswell.

Unfortunately I leave for Medical School in July and will have no time to continue work. EM4 is over a decade old and given the current state of the aging community, it really wasn't seen as worth it for me to invest what little free time I have left before I spend the next 4-8 years of my life learning the art/science of medicine.

I really am sorry to disappoint. This is kind of why I stated in one of my posts that I don't normally believe in showing off pre-release content. I really hate for this to be another RCMP type thing, although that mod had a MUCH bigger following. It's really a shame, I had high hopes for this mod and really wanted to do it, but being the sole developer on the scripting end of things (Which is arguably the biggest and most complex part of the whole modification) I just didn't have the time to commit to bring it to market.

If you'd like, I could do my best to try to finish the mod. I have very, very, VERY limited experience, but something's better than nothing eh?

  5. Just letting ya know, you posted this under emergency 5 help. But anyways, if it came as a folder containing a bunch a smaller folders (models, prototypes, maps, etc.) then just drag that folder into your game's "mods" folder and your good to go.

You cant open eft files. You need the original source .tga files to be able to edit the map texture. You can find sources for the original Em4 eft files within the DL center.

Once done with the edits, save the .tga file in accordance to the Em4 editor manual, and then import it into Em4 which will save it as an eft file.

Hey itchboy, so thanks, I did that, and I made sure when I was done that the width and height was a multiple of 512, and I saved it as a 24-bit .TGA file and I within the scaling maximum, However, when I try to import it into the editor, I get a crash to desktop. Would you mind taking a look at it?

  7. Ok, ok, ok. I have been in and out of the editor for way too long trying to figure this thing out. I'm trying to figure out how to change the map texture, I tried opening the EFT file (that's the one, right?) with various programs such as paint.net, though, it says that it cannot open the file because the image type is not recognized. It must need to be unpacked, but I have no idea how I could do that, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Your models look really amazing! I will probably find a nice place for them in my private airport mod And the airport map that I'm currently developping for release.

Since you seem to be into airport mods/models, Any chance you would be interested in making the new Rosenbauer Panther

    http://www.rosenbauer.com/en/int/rosenbauer-world/vehicles/arff-vehicles/the-new-panther.html

    and/othe new striker?

    http://www.oshkoshairport.com/ARFFTrucks/NewStriker/Striker3000

those would be a great addition to the em4 (airport) modscene!

Well, I'm most likely not going to model any rosenauer vehicles, though I may try some of the new strikers soon.

  9. Nice! I didn't know it was gonna look that good! nice job on it! And I got another surprise! Due to there being no good blueprints for the old striker 1500, I went on the the P-19! It's pretty much done, all I really gotta do is scale it up a little, but I'm too lazy to do that right now, I'll finish it up later.

The Rosenbauer is another one that LA uses, but I believe a German model for it already exists.

The fucntionallity I built for articulated cannons would work well with what you're doing as well.

That looks like a nice script! I hope you'll be able to implement that on to some of these rigs once I get them released! Do you think it would be possible to make a script that allows the vehicle to use both it's roof turret and bumper turret? I've been pondering this for awhile.

    Final product looks great man.

For selfish reasons, I wanted LA but I think those Colet ARFF's are a bit hard to do. I think you should just go with what you want. Doesnt have to be an airport.

Whoa! I've never heard of Colet, I thought that LA still mainly used that one from the original LA mod. I just searched one of those up and they look amazing! once I get a little more experienced I'm definitely gonna try to make one.

  12. Alright! I think I've finished the model to my liking! However, I figured out that I'm quite terrible at making circles in blender, so I'm showing it with the crash tender wheels by Hoppah in the LA mod. And all the emergency lighting has been added as childs, I did this so that when people use it, they'll be forced to add their own lighting and we'll be able to see some variety, and I did not make any of the emergency lighting either, credit goes to EmC-unit for that.

So this is it! Any last recommendations of anything I should add? And I've added a poll in the thread, please vote on what unit I should make next!

  13. Hey guys! I've finally finished my first model, or at least the base of it. I'm debating on weather I should be adding the rest of it on the physical base model, or as childs. Anyways, the model is the old version of the Oshkosh Striker 3000. I also plan to model many other ARFF units too! Such as other variations of the striker, and the Oshkosh Storm, the Oshkosh P-19, and many others too!

    Planned units so far:

Old Oshkosh Striker 3000 - Done

    Oshkosh P-19 - Nearly Done

Here are the pics of the Old Oshkosh Striker 3000 which is nearly done, it obviously needs some texture touchups, and some cosmetic items which I'll add as childs. P.S. Constructive criticism is always welcome!
