The problem with disabling guest accounts from posting in website support is that if, say, someone was having trouble logging in or creating a new account, that's exactly where they would ask for help.

Just so we're clear, the spam filter is for registrations only, so it can't protect us from guest bots. But then again, only the site support forum is affected by them.

All new members need to have their first post approved before it appears on the board. So if that first post is all links in chinese to Louis Vutton knockoffs, the bot is sh*t out of luck.
Also, the spam filter is back online (it had expired back then), so a lot of these bots don't even make it past the registration step.

Thank Stan actually. Fighting off the spambots one by one would ultimately have been a losing battle. He implemented a more permanent solution with a lot less hassle.

The problem is that guests can post in the Website Support forum (and that forum only). Spambots won't be able to register to the site, and thus to post in any other location. But I'll talk to Stan to see if we can close the Website Support forum to unregistered users as well.
