  1. I feel like it could maybe benifit from a accordingly aged lightbar, for me when I picture a caprice cop car the lightbar is invariably something like this
  2. 10-4, copy, acknowledged, roger, en-route
  3. Maybe a variation of phrases instead... (I've never personally find a issue with that myself)
  4. Those things are called "fire roads" and are access roads (much like the ones already on the map) that are not much more than a dirt track through the forest but can allow the quick access of equipment and can be widened in a hurry. Remember also that MOST forest fires are not fought with fire trucks they're fought with hand crews and that's a style of firefighting that EM4 doesn't really support.
  5. Statue of Liberty has some "unique" equipment and procedures, I do love their dorky little rig though, its so cute
  6. huh, cool. I didn't know the USFS did anything of the sort but I suppose it makes sense in extremely rural areas. I will concede that I am not as familiar with USFS operations as I am with NPS operations.
  7. How are you going to work in the USPP Helicopter? I ask because its a rare thing to see in a National Park unless something BIG was going down in which case it usually supports USPP officers who are brought in to help local units, if you're including it it might be good to include a USPP transport vehicle with a USPP SWAT team or something like that. Really the NPS/USPP have enough varied units that you could add quite a few just for giggles/realism but most would never see action in the average midsized park.
  8. You would NEVER see the jaws on a USFS truck, they don't even fight structural fires. In some of the larger parks (Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite etc) the NPS provides structural fire protection and rescue. In most of the smaller parks the "gateway communities" or the small communities around the park provide structural fire and rescue. If you wanted to make this like a big park where the NPS does extrication you might want to model the units on the ones below. Type -1 Fire Engine, in most parks this would carry MVA extrication equipment (jaws) as well as structural firefighting equipment. This is the Rescue unit at Grand Canyon National Park, if you wanted a specialized NPS units to carry the Jaws this would be the one, it also carries other extrication and rescue equipment. I little bit of information on NPS fire and aviation can be found here http://www.nps.gov/fire/
  9. If I may suggest perhaps picking one agency (National Park Service or US Forest Service) to emphasize, they each have their merits. US Forest Service: Much more into wildland firefighting (air tankers, lots of type 3 engines and personal carriers), not so much into law enforcement, search and rescue or EMS NPS: Have significant wildland firefighting assests (mostly type 6 engines but some type 3s) heavier on law enforcement with most rangers being EMTs as well. The NPS also does a lot more search and rescue and technical rescue kinda stuff. I'm quite excited at the prospect of a wildness style mod, I have significant knowledge of NPS and USFS operations and equipment so feel free to ask anything.
  10. I'm not sure how European EMS services are but in the US most agencies are actually doing away with long spineboards for almost all incidents. That being said I'm still really looking forward to this mod, if I may caution against having too many vehicles on map, there is a place for a variety of units but a smaller number of units is more realistic and more challenging.
  11. In the US aproxamately 70% of firefighters are volunteer. In a volunteer fire department members meet for training, meetings and public events but they do not actually live at the station. Most department's don't have the call load to justify paid staff at a station.Usually volunteer firefighters go about their lives just like anyone else but when a call is recieved firefighters are notafied by a variety of menes (usually a pager) and they respond to the station. When they respond to the station they don gear and respond in the fire trucks just like any fire department anywhere. If you hve any other questions or if this didn't explain it very well feel free to PM me. Also Bama, the Game Warden truck looks great. Any chance of getting a new model for the park ranger (the person not the truck) while you're at it?
  12. Yeah but scanners encourage people to come out of their way to gawk. And besides that anything that comes over a scanner is going to be someone's private disaster that they wouldn't want to be blurted all over town. Civillians don't need scanners, at all.
  13. So I have a idea, not sure if you'l want to look into it for this mod but I thought it was cool. Is it possible to have cars run over people? If its possible it would be cool to have a script so that if personal were not in traffic vests or bunker gear and encountered a car on the road they would be hit and become injured. This way we have a added layer or relism and a use for the traffic vest.
  14. I like the concept, I hope you have the skills to pull it off, it sounds like a lot of fancy scripting work.
  15. Meanwhile in Communist Russia... Anyway how's this going?
  16. lol NFK But really, we all know that guy, don't be that guy.
  17. The truly worse thing about this is civilians having scanners, that is the main problem.
  18. I'm by no means "serious" about gaming, I'd just really like to play Simcity 5 lol since I have it and can't play it. 95% of the use of my machine is web browsing or word processing kinda stuff.
  19. Hey Marshall welcome back! I'd say that's a brilliant idea, good thinking.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen, anyone else want to chime in?
  21. Crash investigation sounds kinda cool, like you have to breathalyze the drivers, check the "black box" of the car, measure the skid marks etc, maybe just for fatality investigations.
  22. I think I have a foxfury 10, its ok for interior and works GREAT for scene lighting. I use it on night wrecks all the time. Remember less is more, you want to have all the material you need to do your job but you don't need to be the departments newest Rescue truck.
