  1. Moo is one of the beta testers for this project so he is in the right place, and one of the few people I dont mind PMs from. Actually I dont even mind PMs in general I just dont want every n00b that joins up to spam my inbox for help when there question can be answered by either searching on the forums, or starting a thread and get a quicker response by getting help from some one online rather then waiting for me. This way I dont get spammed to death like Hoppah and they get answers to there questions promptly since not every one has the patience to sit by and wait for a response. Just keep a note of it for latter. Im not putting any more work in to this project because there is no point in adding things if I dont have a team to finish the other aspects of the project.
  2. Says who? I got 3 stations in game but have a slight problem with one of the rear gates for FS3. What exactly is the problem? adding these? Shouldnt you have a basic understanding of the editor before you get this far in to the project? Not to seem harsh but it seems a bit late to be asking for help with such things.
  3. Nope. CFD has pretty much ignored my requests for lights but wants me to join some modding group but doesn;t bother to talk to me about the group. Conroy is to busy for lights. Helljumper was really close to being done with Quint 9, but that was months ago and havent gotten an update since. He may have been deployed over night again. Who knows. Kookas keeps promising to send me a model he did, and never does. He also said he was going to continue working on the models i need, but no updates from him either. The project is more or less dead atm. With out a seriously good lighter and modeler, theres nothing more I can do. My work on the project is about 90-95% done. Over all the project is about 80% done. The remaining 20% breaks down to about 10% models and 10% lights.
  4. Really liking the Chevy Express Ambulance. With Ford dominating the Ambo market its refreshing to see the Chevy's from time to time even if I am a Ford guy.
  5. Hit retry(i think) it will tell you the script name where the problem lies and also tell you generally what line the problem is on. Traffic lights. LAFD is going to Dodge cabs as well. I forget if there extended cab or not, but I believe they are. You need to do the lights and the VOs and name them all properly. The tutorial works fine. I have used it myself.
  6. So just ask for permission. Mikey may or may not but Hoppahs models are free to use now so no permission needed.
  7. Check the PRL/LED thread for instructions. Its been covered more times then I care to count. Search thread tool is in the top right corner of the screen when viewing a thread. Search for instructions.
  8. 1. Look for liquid. Its in one of the drop down menus. 2. The car is scripted to point to a turn to vo. You didnt move the turn to vo so its pointing towards the turn to vo.
  9. Looks like a good start, but keep in mind that this might be a bit advanced for the average n00b. Like they wont realize 0=false and 1=true, things like this. Also, I imagine your going to need to have it load a different template depending on the XML. Like the template there is fine for editing the mission XML but in most cases, only advanced modders are probably going to mess with that script, where as your average n00b is going to be more interested in in editing freeplaybase and freeplayparams. In that case the template above with index map and script are going to be useless. None the less, it seems off to a good start!
  10. First post of a threads is usually a good place to check.
  11. We pretty much have an offical mission for that, the one about the fireworks factory.
  12. Well all I got to say is keep up the work. Im sure people are enjoying it.
  13. Well this can be a little tricky depending on how its set up. If the BC and EMS Sup can both call for ALS Ambos, then theres no point in doing the command twice in 2 different scripts. I would suggest starting with a copy of the BC script and then only put additional medical vehicle calls in there, but aside from say the MCU I dont really see a need for calling other EMS vehicles that dont already have a command. In which case I would just add a Call MCU command to the BC script.
  14. Tell me about it. My apt complex is on a major road leading out of town and about 1 mile south of the complex the road goes from a 30mph zone in city to a more deescalate stretch of road and raises to 45, at night its not a problem because its easy enough to pass usually but during rush hour its to busy to get passed everyone and get up to speed. I suppose it doesnt help the 2 signs saying 45 mph are hidden, well ones is hidden the other is just in a congested area where you dont have alot of time to notice it.

    MODS?

This section is supposed to be for released and WIP mods, not asking for suggestions on advice. Theres already a few topics like this in EM4 General.
  16. The free trial actually last forever. It never forces you to buy it.
  17. The link to close only shows up when you hover over the pic. And yes I saw the screen shots. Hard not to...I was simply saying to use fraps rather then taking pictures of the screen with a camera. The pics come out clearer since there a direct capture and eliminates having to position the camera correctly as not to get reflections and such.
  18. To install my mod, your download the zip, extract it, and run the EXE file. I'll leave it to YSB to explain instillation on his submod. YSB, IMO a name like LA Mod 2.0 4x4 with YSB Changes or LA Mod 2.0 4x4 YSB Edition would be a better name, but its your project, and your decision. I have also linked to your submod in my thread.
  19. I found a copy of it, surprisingly. I played it a little bit but didnt get in to it that much. Maybe one day when I have more time to devote to it, I will look in to it more.
  20. Alienware has gone down hill in quality over the years. They were originally there own company but were bought out by Dell, and now there just a high end Dell. Secondly, I would recommend a desktop over a laptop any day(if possible). Laptop CPU and GPUs are scaled down versions of there desktop counterpart. Not to mention they are more likley to suffer heat damage. Now moving on to the parts you reference, these sound like desktop parts despite mentioning an Alienware earlier on. Processor - OverClocked Intel Core i7 980X 4.0-4.5GHz - If you can afford this bad boy, go for it. Now they come stock at 3.33GHz, and I dont know how well they OC, but being an Intel chip, I imagine 4.0-4.5 shouldnt be an issue. Motherboard - ASUS Rampage III Extreme - Crap. Asus quality has went down hill over the past 2-3 years. Nor do you really need a high end mobo like this for a good OC. A solid low range Gigabyte mobo will still let you hit 4.0 easily. PSU - 1.5 Kilowatt Silverstone Strider - Killowats? That alone sounds like a gimmick. Keep in mind, it isnt the Wattage thats important. What's really important is how many amps it has on a 12+V rail, and ideally 1 rail is better then two. Corsair PSUs may be slightly more expensive, but again this is by far the most important part, and Corsair offers a 5 year warranty on most of there PSUs, and they work like a champ. Graphics - Dual 2.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA Quadro 5000 - Not a fan of NVIDIA cards. There inefficient power draw wise to there ATI counter parts, and usually suffer heat damage much easier then ATI. Well I guess thats AMD or ATI now(ATI was owned by AMD, still is actually but AMD has now rebrnaded the 6000 series cards to AMD rather then ATI). RAM - 12GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600Mhz - Kingston makes good cheap ram, but in the grand scheme of things, there memory isnt all that great. Also, you need to make sure you Mobo is capable of handling 1600MHz ram. I made the mistake when I purchased this mobo, and while it does support 1600 MHz RAM, it doesnt support it to its full speed. 1333 MHz(I believe) is the safe bet. Oh and 12 GB is likley over kill. I would stick with 6 GB(3x2GB sticks) and then iff needed, grab 3 more sticks of RAM to bring you up to 12. Audio - ASUS XONAR XENSE - Question is are you an Audiophile? Unless your trying to achieve absolute premium sound quality, then no need. Almost all mobos today come equipped to handle surround sound. With in reason yes, as Mike pointed out, it does depend on the app. 3DS and Maya are not cheap. I think both cost over $1,000 USD and are high end 3D modeling apps capable of using the 64 bit architecture. 64 bit OSes do have a memory limit, but I forget what it is, so it may not even be relevant. Now just because an app is 64 bit compatible, I think the app itself can still have limitations how much RAM it can use. In the case of soemthing like Maya and 3Ds, I imagine the devs are thinking, if your spending over $1K on software, hardware costs likley wont be much of a factor, so I am sure the limits are quite high. Another thing to keep in mind, if your seriously considering modeling, you might consider a Workstation GPU. These cards are for the most part, similar hardware wise to there gaming counterpart, but have specially designed drivers. When it comes to 3D models in apss like these, a Workstation card will dominate a gaming card in terms of performance, by that same standard, Workstation cards pretty much suck in terms of gaming, and a game gpu based card will demolish it in terms of game performance. If money really isnt an object, get a gaming card and a workstation card. However, I do not recommend getting 2 gaming cards for Crossfire/SLI. First off, not all games work with this set up. Well correction, they will work, but some games cant utilize both GPUs. Secondly, keep in mind, that they do not scale to 100% so essentially your not going to get double the performance. You are looking at about 80% performance out of each card rather then 100% as the GPUs then have to dedicate them selves to instructing each card how to work. I believe this drops even lower the more cards you add. You never mentioned HDD either..stick to Western Digital or Seagate. The Segates tend to run a little hotter, but are still a good alternative to WD. Now Samsungs, there cheap, and I dont trust them. My buddy had a RAID set up with 3 Sammies, and while RAID is a great redundancy option, when all 3 drives fail at once, like in his case, well your screwed. If you have any more questions just ask.
  21. Its kind of funny, it seems that I suggest something like this, and it got totally shot down. Months latter, all the sudden its a good idea. Funny how things work out like that. Hopefully the changes work out good. Anyways, good luck on the exams. Sounds fun!
  22. It may be harsh but personally I think its always good to start a mod preview thread on a good note, which imo, includes a screen shot of something new. It doesnt have to be soemthing to fancy, but atleast prove to people out of the gate you have say atleast 1 completed model. It proves that you/your team are capable of atleast one thing. I mean it oculd be a youtube of a new script, maybe even something simple but useful. Now does that mean we will see a completed mod one day? Nope. Any one thats been here long enough knows that, but, again, its just my opinion showing something is better then nothing. I have never needed a chopper for the police chase, atleast in the LA Mod. When a stolen car report comes in, find the nearest unit, and use the chase command on the stolen vehicle. When the cop gets close to the vehicular, the gangster usually ditches the vehicle and take off on foot, and again use the chase command and arrest the gangster. Haul him off to jail, and your done. The only place the police heli is required is the missions.
  23. Did you steal the NY Mod icon for the screen shot with the pocket pc? You need to fix the axis or the wheels on the NYPD cars, Engine 1, Engine 252, and possibly the ambulance seeing as the heels are sticking in to the ground.
  24. Id like to see a link where they said this as well.
