  2. Exactly the point.. I have worked on a mod team for a mod similar to most of the ones out here now, and it has taken a year and a half, and I've been working with arguably some of the best modders on this site to create this mod. Ours is pretty simple, since we only have new vehicles, people, stations and a new function or two. The NY mod has been at work for the same amount of time, with a team of two or three, and they have been working on a mod similar to ours, HOWEVER there is a HUGE difference... In addition to their mod, they are also creating a mission, made to emulate freeplay, and for those of us skilled enough to make a mission, you'll understand even a basic one takes a lot of time, to emulate freeplay? Well that'd take ages... Now I'm going to use my administrative powers, and delete all post that are in regards to the NY mod, warn everyone who posts them, and possibly turn off their ability to post for a little while if they don't heed by the rules. That rule comes into effect now, so don't let me catch one more post after this one.

We're closing it this time after the creator messaged me asking to close it, because quite frankly, he, as well as most of the staff of this site, are getting pretty sick of this constant bullsh*t you guys have been posting in that topic, which most of it isn't needed at all, such as this is never gonna come out, when is it coming out, will you have this feature you've confirmed, will you explain something you said you won't explain until release? He is tired of hearing a vast majority of the members of this site complaining, badgering and just being annoying, so he requested that we close the topic for a while, while he works on the mod, does some personal stuff, and gets back into the regular routine of life... Oh, and since I'm a man of my word, Jakethejake, you've just gotten yourself a +1 warning.. Anyone else wishing to continue about the mod in this topic will also receive one, maybe two or three, for ignoring this post... This is to talk about New York things, not the New York mod.. Do I make myself clear? Good, lets all return to topic now.

  8. The original topic was created in 2008, then after 200 odd pages of spam posts, we decided to give them another cahnce at a topic, close their old one, start a better one, and we're back here... We went through the first couple pages, and deleted every post that didn't belong to FFW TUT so that the first page was all reserved for the team. This mod has gone through three diffent versions before being released. Originally, this was just another plain old vehicle mod, but after 3 years, it's started the game almost again. Yeah, they'll have a lot of cool things added, but will it make the game super crazy nuts interesting? Probably not, as with everything (with exception of Deus Ex) you'll get bored of it eventually. Who knows, this may just be a psychology project, to see how long people will wait for something they don't know anything about, and how many stupid empty posts can be repeated, when the actual team only ever answers once in a blue moon or so. Actually, no I'm the only one evil enough to do that
  9. I think he means how if you tell a firetruck to go to a certain area, sometimes i'll just drop itself in the same sort fasion you'd get frmo dropping a toy car on to your floor. I'm sorring, but there is no need for a fire truck to block three lanes of traffic that is not affecting you and your emergency, since it'll only potentially create more emergencies. However fixing this in game the only way I could see this would be to place a VO every time, have it create a command to park in that space, then delete that VO, and repeat every time, which if it was possible would tax your system way beyond belief. So unless they've got a way around that method, then we'll be dealing with that kinda stuff. I am not a apart of the development team for this mod, I just translate from time to time, but I realy don't see them including a time factor where it is as slow as real life. The reason game time differs from real time is because if you have a real call, it would take 10 minutes for an ambulance to respond, sensibly, so for us to dispatch, then wait ten minutes, i would quit the game, it'd be too much realism. And if you didn't do it like that, then you'd have about 10000 calls in a day, each completed in around one or two minutes, also very bad
  10. You could build a train track, lay a path, and set it all up, the train in the game map now is simply something asethic and has the same function as a rock or dumpster

  12. I think so, Natioanl guard helps with all things really needed in the country like that. They don't have fire trucks and that, they are just military that help out with what they have (trucks, helos etc) Yes, hundreds of times, most times, resulting in death. Parachutes are not perfectly safe. Mind you they have a high success rate, but seldom enough, it does happen that they fail, everything from sloppy rigging, to wear and tear, to damage sustained in drop/while jumping
  13. Haztac ambulances are basically rapid response vehicles for hazardous materials medical calls. They get there fast, and allow the medics to get at the patients safely. Haztac is just another made up word for Hazardous Tactics or something along those lines As for types of ambulances, the main providor is FDNY. They have different types, such as regular and haztac, but aside from them there is also private companies, such as Hatzola which serves to the jewish community, or AMR or other medical transport options that people may pick, where the american system is not universal for healthcare, everything has to be paid for, and hospitals are owned by the insurance companies. These companies then may have their own ambulances for their own hospitals, so they may grab that last cent from you
  14. As far as I know, NYPD is not the first response unit always sent to medical emergencies and what not, or else I've been missing a lot, and I've now discovered why they're so big. I think that this team will follow as all others have and leave cops as cops and not medics. Plus if everyone does everythign, the game is too easy
  15. To play devil's advocate, police can provide first aid in real life yes, however they need two things to be able to do it right and safely. First aid equipment and protection, since I'm not putting my hands (that will more than likely have a cut somewhere) in some bum's blood as who knows what disease I could get especially if I know an ambulance in two minutes out, and they will be able to survive those two minutes. Plus first aid can help a little bit, but if you were shot, the most it can do is stabilize you while it's being done, or lower the rate of which your life is decreasing. Let's say you stopped a passing cop car past a stroke victim, since that's a regular call in my freeplay anyways. You'd have them get out, and make sure they can breath and possibly do CPR if needed... Or say someone was just stabbed in an attempted murder. The cop can apply pressure to the wound, limiting the decay of life to half of it's original rate until the ambulance arrives, given the cop doesn't leave the victim. Realisitcally, it wouldn't do much in this game, since the way medical calls are set up are not very in depth. In real life, yeah it's very useful, but inthis game, it's just not as useful as it could be in my opinion.

I shake her until the city block collapses, she goes unconscious and the dams break, then I kill her friends, family and blow up a few power plants while I'm at it... Good one. Every religion or lackthereof has extremists, from christian to atheist. From the people that shove their beliefs down your throat, forcing you to accept them, to people who say they're happy a country will lose about 20% of it's population by the end of this thing. Every movement has extremists, so a lot of people are going to hate Christians for a while after seeing this, but realistically, that's A a troll, or B just another extremist who, barring her beliefs are correct, will rot in hell for eternity. Somewhere in Matthew I do believe (a book in the new testament of the holy bible) it says you'll be judged the same as you judge others... Or something to that effect. that's from the New Found King Version (Instead of New King James? ha ha?) Every extremist can be proven wrong with their grounds of beliefs, thats why I take everyone in moderation and don't let others get to me. Personally, I totally disagree with her, and if she ever said that to me, I'd shake her as stated in the second line of this post. Then say it's showing my love for her. But am I going to hate all christians, or freak out, no, since I have no entitlement to.
  17. The freeplay params is where you can adjust the frequency of events. Lower them all around to get lesser call volumes.. It's all labelled in there

  19. In the script you would link the command to the actual action. In theory, not in code, it would basically do this. The object button To Towtruck would have the unit go to the virtual object called XYZVO and unload a load, then go to ZYXVO and park to be called out again. Look at hoppah's to fire station commands to see the exact coding for this
  20. 1 5 and 6 need scripting knowledge( well I think 1 does, not quite sure..) If you don't know scripting, don't touch it. It'll end very badly and you'll regret touching it without cloning it. Clone it then attempt to read and undersatnd it To save hit control S. To place objects, load the map and delete and place as needed?
  21. I have to disagree on the stop sign placement, considering that means every car has to stop there all the time regardless if anything is leaving the station or not.. I'd recommend traffic lights instead
  22. Well if you say you know a modelling program, learn Zmod. 2 It's your best bet. As for learning about other things, play around in the edtior on maps that already exist, learn how things work, once you think you've got a fair understanding of whats already there, try to add more, then try to start adding units, and scripts and see what happens. There's lots of tutorials all about to helpo you along the way as well as a mostly nice (excluding me ) community very willing to help explain things
  23. Right now police just show up and arrest, don't ask questions, just arrest, that's kinda unrealistic
  24. Hey guys, reason why I haven't posted updates in ages will be announced shortly However I have an update on my progress, just no screen caps or anything.. I'm currently in the process of redoing the ambulance: (It should look like this: minus the new grille, that's not included on this model) As well as catching up on the Fire Department, I've had both the pumper and Ladder done, just I need to scale them to size and put them in game the right way. After that will come a few little things not required but nice to have. Two things I am purposely excluding from this mod mostly for sake of realism will be the police helicopter and an armoured vehicle. RNC doesn't use either, and nor will we. Mind you I will be including a tactical team, just with a twist. This is meant to be a lot of strategy, and not a lot of commands.
