  1. Eh, there will be war as long as mods are made. Thats the root of the problem. I get that your post is sarcastic and humorous but the problem isn't black and white. Replying to it in a joking manner does lighten the tension but doesnt make the problem go away.

I suggest that mod segregation of some sort be done for the site. (how racist of me!)

So would that mean some mods have to move to the back of the forums? Lol.

  2. Just to add to this.

Reskins aren't going to kill this community off as most people seem to think, it's reusing the same mod (in this case the Mayberry one) over and over with different skins and no new features which will do it. But I do agree with what you guys have said, a reskin is not brand new mod, it is just new textures and should be called a submod to which ever one it used as a base.

Also Corsair, polygons aren't always the best. Especially when you don't have a very good computer as they tend to cause alot of lag when there are several vehicles on scene. If I remember correctly the guy who made the Mayberry mod made it like that because he had a crap computer at the time so he couldn't make it super realistic and 200+ lights on every vehicle. As I've said to others, if you don't like something a mod creator has done don't snub it because of a few bits you don't agree with... Just change bits to how you want/like them, that is what I've done on a few mods I play.

  3. This is the reason why the mods I have edited are for personal/private use only and won't be released to anyone no matter how many times I get asked, but also because I don't trust people (no offence) as it only takes 1 person to release it and its all over the internet. I only post updates to show off what I have done out of interest from others and get their opinions on things. Yeah I have called them different names to the originals, but the point is no one else is going to be using them so I can call them what I please.

The problem I have noticed (same as you Mike and everyone else) is that people have started becoming lazy and reskinning submods of the Mayberry one. For example the Buston (sub)mod has about 3 different reskins of it... WHY?! Why does it need that goddamn many... Now I'm not sure if the Fairfax County mod counts though, I know it did start out as a reskin because it uses the Mayberry mod as a base but in v2.0 most of the vehicles were changed out from the original ones and in v3 they plan on having a new map all together. So it is under going a lot of changes to make it a different mod compared to the original.

Now I can understand that people want to replicate their home town/city/county/state etc but Jesus... No offence but please use a different based mod or start learning how to make a new one. I know the damn Mayberry map off the back of my hand now...

I for one will be starting to learn how to make 3D models/conversions etc for EM4 & GTA. As soon as I get my new PC... Whenever that will be its like 5th or 6th on my list of things to do and get by next year lol.

  4. Does it work as good as say, the original Em4 ladder? As in the FF can enter multistory buildings and the snorkel can rotate around? Or does it only plainly elevate and extinguish like the LA Mod Tiller?

IIRC it operates pretty much the same as the original EM4 ladder, but I think it was from the old Chicago mod, I'll see if I can find the video.

  5. Hello guys,

Its been a while since the last update, but I haven't really be concentrating much on EM4 as I've been busy with work. But I have spend the last few days doing some vans for the police. Hope you enjoy.

The vehicles main purpose is a support/equipment vehicle for major incidents such as rail disasters/demonstrations etc. This used to be the Ringways van, But I have now equipped it with the XC70 lightbar aswell as stocking it with extra equipment for large incidents.

This was originally the network rail response van, but is now kitted out for the dog section, working together with the Ford Mondeo dog vehicle.

Originally this was the Thames Water van, which is now part of Forensic Investigations. I had equipped the vehicle with the standard police siren and also grill lights and visor lights.

  6. I just transitioned to it because of its low file size in relation to FRAPS. With Fraps, you aint getting under 100mb for an 8 minute video. More like over 10gb or more. WIth this OBS and a bit of playing around, 100+mb would fit an 8 minute video.

I've only tested OBS with vid.me and noticed much better upload speeds than YouTube. I will be uploading something soon for sake of comparison.

I find it depends on how heavy the load is on your system. With some mods I can play & record for over an hour its the file size is only 900mb+. Where as with others I can play for 30-40 minutes and the file size is 1.5gb+. I have noticed that with the London mod the file size its alot higher for some reason then any other mods.

But saying that I can play Spintires or Euro Truck Sim 2 for 30-60 minutes and the file size its like 600mb. This could also be because I haven't optimized the settings for EM4 lol.

True, I think it takes longer to upload on Youtube due to all the different video quality options. Plus it depends on how good your upload speed is. I only have 1.1mb up speed so its takes a couple of hours to upload to YouTube for a video which is 800mb+.

  7. True dat. You need to adjust quite a number of settings before you can get satisfactory results. An example taken by me using OBS.

    https://vid.me/o3Oy

I personally choose OBS over Fraps just because of the lower filesize, and that .flv is much easier to play with than .avi

Yeah but its probably one of the best imo, there are tutorials on how to set obs up, they helped me when I first started using it. Then like you said its just fine tuning it to your preferences.

I save mine in .mp4 format then its easier for me to load/edit them in Windows Movie Maker (don't laugh shhh lol).

  8. Armed patrols by the BTP are occasional, and seen mainly at the bigger stations. As said above, BTP give more PPE to PCSOs; and I'm seeing more and more PCSOs and less and less warranted officers at the smaller stations. Airport policing is done by the territorial force, BTP is railways only, I think.

It's surprising really, threat level is at severe at the moment and the most that the stations are doing are removing bins from the damn stations... :(

I know that the major train stations in London have armed patrols. I saw 2 armed BTP officers at kings cross back in May when I was there.

  9. In regular freeplay with unmodified settings, ratio appears to be one game minute = one real life second. So 1hr in Em4 world = 1 minute in the real world.

You can set the timescale to be slower or faster, or even real time. Just a matter of playing with the freeplay.xml files for each game type (challenge, freeplay, deluxe, multiplayer, etc). I personally find 0.75 to be the most comfortable and that the days and nights pass 25% slower than the original.

I didn't know you could edit the speed of the time cycle, might have a tinker around with it as I find the nights pass too quickly.

  10. Thank you, appreciated. Not causing a major problem but if I wanted to reply to them with a quote I have to wait for someone else to comment first as to not go against the double posting rule (Unless there is a way to edit a quote in?).

You should be able to quote them (don't post the reply) and then just copy and paste it into your edited post.
