  1. Really?

    All four squads (4, 48, 87, 95) and all five USARs (3, 5, 27, 85, 88, 89) are housed in task force stations.

This is because the USARs (with the exception of 88s) are cross-staffed when a USAR call comes in. One or two guys from the task force will jump on the USAR and drive it to the scene along with the task force. USAR 88 is staffed 24/7 however, and they are the only USAR in the city that does this. All the personnel at the five USAR stations are USAR certified.

As you can see in this photo set, TF 89 is on scene as well as USAR 89.

Squads are similar, although 95s and now 87s are the only squads that are cross staffed. The other two are staffed 24/7. Like the USAR stations, all the personnel at stations with a squad are HAZMAT certified.

  2. These stations represent the 2 most common set ups in LA. I forget the term for the main station, but the second station 2 is called a satelite station and typically houses an ALS Engines, BLS Ambulance and Hazmat truck just like in the game.

However, if your interested in multiple mini stations, it certainly is possible, but its going to require ALOT of scripting and ALOT of work in the editor.

That's wrong. USAR and squads are always housed at a full task force station. The LA mod is a little unrealistic.

  3. That about covers it. Just one last thing. If it was covered in the guide I missed it. Do ALS Rigs carry jaws and which of the LAX Rigs carry jaws?

Your officially my go to guy for info when Mikesphotos isnt around tongue.gif

What do you mean by ALS rigs? Do mean RAs or assessment engines?

I believe there are a few engines in the city that carry some sort of battery powered Holmatro tool, but I don't know which engines those are though. I also believe RAs carry bolt cutters and a hayward tool and some even carry extra equipment depending on what the station has a surplus of.

I don't know which crash tenders (if any) carry jaws.

  4. Great job on the pics but:

My heads not exactly with it lately, remind me what a TF is. Is the RA the same, as far as paint and and the model goes, as the one above or is it the reserve? Got any pics?

I am trying to understand the inner workings of the three LAX stations. Station 80 is obviously going to be primary for plane crashes and stand by for mayday landings, but what are the functions of 51 and 95? Is 51 and 95 geared more towards handling incidents that are not on the air field like a car fire or mva on the property? Do the tenders have jaws or are these stored on the Engine and/or Squad?

A task force (TF) is a light force plus a four man engine.

Only station 80 and 51 have the yellow appratus. 95s is all red.

    A quote from www.emtbravowest.com

51's first in district includes the LAX property except a small eastern portion of the south complex. (Runway 25R/L) That belongs to 95's. We also have the 105 freeway to the 405, Imperial HWY on the El Segundo border to Vista Del Mar, Dockweiler Beach, the RV lot at the beach, Hyperion Plant, the Scattergood (Red and White Smoke Stacks) DWP plant on the LA / El Segundo / Manhattan Beach Borders and the Radison Hotel on Century BLVD.

We (ENG and RA 51) respond to all runs at the terminals, maintenance hangars, and Cargo Areas at the airport. Engine 51 is attached to ARFF 80 on all Full (Aircraft Emergency) runs at the airport. We are interior attack on the aircraft after the crash rigs knock the bulk of the fire down. We will use Stair 80 to gain entry into the aircraft if at all possible. E 51 is also part of first alarm Structure assignments to Westchester, Playavista, and the Loyola Marymount campus. RA 51 only run calls on the airport and Hotel Row on Century BLVD.

The area around LAX is also busy. 5's will average more runs a shift because they have a Task Force, USAR, EMS and BC assigned there. 95's is a bit slower, but they will handle LAX when 51's is tied up on another run.

    And another quote

We will respond as far as 63's first in on structure calls. OCD Keeps us at LAX almost 90% of the time. We do not move up either but anything's possible. As far as brush goes we are typicaly not assigned out of the city. If another Bel Air type fire happened in the city all bets are off, we're going. If anything major happens, Earthquake, Civil unrest, or a large scale emergency OCD will use us as needed. The only thing different from our rig and the others is the Lime green Paint and AFFF foam instead of Class A.

We routinely respond off the airport on a regular basis but it's usually restricted to Battalion 4 so we can return to LAX promptly. The reason for this is the complexity of responding on the airport property. Only Battalion 4 personel are certified to drive on the airfield. A company from another battalion cannot reach the apparatus floor of the firehouse without an escort. If you're not familiar with the service roads and taxiways you can cause an incursion involving an aircraft.

Both quotes refer to FS 51/80 and LAX operations.

In regards to the ambulances, the current LAFD RA 51 is the one below left. The reserve RA 51 is the one on the lower right. The one in the LA mod has been outdated since the LA mod first was released as the current RA 51 is a 2005 model while the LA mod was released in 2006.

  5. This may not be a bug per say, but why is the LAX Stair truck in the mod as I dont think I have found it in any missions, and if i did miss it, which missions is it on? I placed it side by side with all the major airplanes in the game and it seem the platform sits about twice as high as the door. The models there, why not trim it down to size where it serves some use?

The color is slightly off as well. It's too yellow.

  6. Can Mike or any one provide pics of units in house at the stations covering the LAX Area? For example: http://www.flickr.co...ear/4593539437/ Id really like shots kind of like this where you can see all the units in the station or even something along these lines: http://www.indianafi...e/station-1.jpg (obviously not LA just example).

    http://www.fs80.org/

They have just what you're looking for in the photo section. The website is slightly out of date though. The numbering for the three E-one tenders (see below) are now foam 180 , foam 280, and foam 380 instead of foam 1, foam 2, and foam 3. Crash 80 is still the same. I think they changed the numbers to differentiate better between all four crash tenders at the station, and the reason the E-ones start with 180 is because of crash 80.

As you can see foam 180 is in the LA mod. Hoppah should tweak the skin to say "180" instead of "1"

FS 51 has an RA and an engine.

You can obviously tell it's high time for Hoppah to update RA 51 ingame with a new skin and changed model. The old RA (like the one currently in the game) is now a reserve.

FS 95 has a TF, RA, and a squad but the squad is cross staffed (it's the only squad in the city that is like that).

And then you also have 5's just to the north and they have a TF, RA, USAR (which is cross staffed), BC, EM, and maybe a BLS RA.

  7. They are? I know the ambulances have changed(using the newer models with the big square grill) and there using LED Bars. Plus the BLS went over to a red paint scheme. BC model is out of date, and the HRC needs a second lightbar, but i didnt realize it was that out of date. I guess I need to refresh my memory with Mike's guide lol.

Well for starters the white-over-red paint scheme on RAs is not used anymore. Only the most recent RA purchase has the LED bars and square grille. I believe all the BCs got new Suburbans. RA 51 also needs a makeover, it needs a new skin and the model needs to be changed to the ALS RA model with the cab roof mounted lightbar.

The HR model is not out of date, all it needs is a few lights.

Actually, most of the fire vehicles need lights, mostly just side flashers and a few rear flashers.

  8. Sorry to bust your bubble, but no you dont. You have a low end AMD Cpu. Its a dual core cpu and AMD just pushed out a 6 Core cpu not long ago and Intel has a 6 core/12 thread cpu out. From the looks of it you have an oboard gpu(its built in to the mobo). These are crap, and so are nvidia chipsets. A driver update might help you out:

    Driver Date/Size: 7/6/2007 21:15:00, 4788224 bytes

Your running nearly 3 year old drivers. This might get you some better performance but your best bet would be picking up one of these cards if you have a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot available. You may not have a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot on your mobo.

These are probably the best gpu you could upgrade to and you should notice a huge difference.

I personally run EM4 on high settings with barley any lag, and the only time I notice lag is if I have ALOT of units in one area which is rare.

Those GPUs would be bottlenecked so bad by the CPU.

  9. The number corresponds to what type of firefighter will be called. 1 is a FF/PM, 2 is the PM stretcher team, 3 is the FF/EMT, 4 is the BC, 5 is the HAZMAT, 6 is USAR, and 7 is EMT stretcher team.

Just change the numbers to change the type of firefighters called. If you want to add firefighters, copy the wait and the callcrew lines for as many firefighters as you want. Always make sure the 1.5 length is last.

    m.PushActionWait(ACTION_APPEND, 0.5f);
    m.PushActionExecuteCommand(ACTION_APPEND, DUMMY_CALLCREW, Caller, 3, false);

  10. 1. If you select the proper command from the menu, all the objects on which it can be used on will glow blue.

    2. The original missions remain, so you'll have a total of 30 missions. The LA missions are listed after the original missions. Don't forget to patch the LA modd to version 2.0.2.

    3. All I play is the LA mod so I don't know.

    4. Use the commands to call units on the battalion chief and police officers. They will save you time in calling units. For medical incidents, treat with a paramedic (from an engine or RA), and then transport with the BLS RA. This way the paramedic units are freed up to respond to calls instead of transporting.
