Buying a Desktop and laptop on the cheap
Xplorer4x4 replied to FInn Rescue 12's topic in [EN] Off Topic
Thats much better. Now the Core i5 is a great choice, but I wouldnt go with this particular Core i5 as it uses the 1366 Socket, this means the cost of the motherboard goes up as it is meant to accommodate 3 or 6 sticks of ram where as a computer using the 1156 socket on the mobo is designed to run 2 or 4 sticks. For the CPU I would go with a i5-750. If thats not an option or to expensive, heres a list of good cpus: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006519%2050001157%2040000343%20600005864%20600005584&IsNodeId=1&name=Core%20i3 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006519%2050001157%2040000343%20600005864%20600005579&IsNodeId=1&name=Core%20i5 A Core i3 would likley get the job done if your not going to do anything that requires alot of CPU like video editing. 6GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz- 3 DIMMs - Well if you change the cpu like I said your going to want 4GB 2 DIMMs rather then 6GB/3Dimms. Problem is you dont know what brand they are. So its hard to gauge how reliable it will be. 1TB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache - Again no name brand(not your fault just how Dell,HP,and the rest of them are), so relaibility is questionable. However I would atleast switch it for a 1 TB w/ 32 MB Cache if possible. ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 - Pretty low end card. I can see it playing EM5 on low settings if thats ok with you? What other games do you play? 16X DVD+/-RW Drive Now if you will take it up on yourself to build the pc, heres what I would suggest: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12513111 Cost before Shipping: $729 Price After Rebates: $680 That would leave $20 for shipping so you might go slightly over budget. This assumes your in the US. Your going to sacrifice some cpu power compared to the Dell but chances are you should be fine. The second important thing to notice is your getting a more powerful video card, important for gaming. The third thing to note is reliability. The chances of a part going out are slimmer. Assuming a part does go out it likley had a warranty and all you have to do is ship that part back rather then ship the whole PC. Assuming that piece is anything other then the hard drive, and you ship it back to Dell, you risk loosing everything on the HDD. Last but not least, upgradeable. If you want to upgrade the CPU to a Core i7 860 in a few months, you can.If you want to upgrade the video card, you can. If you upgrade the video card you may have to upgrade the PSU/Power Supply, however with the Dell almost none of these upgrades in the future would be possible. -

Is irrelevant. Quantity doesnt mean quality. eMachine ET183107 / ET1831-07 - Well theres the first problem. 2.70GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5400 Processor - Not a bad CPU but AMD makes better low end CPU. 4GB DDR2 SDRAM Memory - What brand? 750GB Serial ATA Hard Drive - What brand? There was a batch of 750 GB Seagates that came out a few years ago that had major reliability problems. Microsoft Windows 7 Premium 64-bit Edition - I would have probably stuck with Win XP 32 bit. 16X DVD+_R/RW SuperMulti Drive - Hard to go to wrong, but it is possible. Companies like Dell or HP often buy drives from Lite-On and other manufactures, and slap some custom firmware on the drive making it trash. NVIDIA GeForce 7050 graphics for excellent video playback - JUNK. I hope you dont plan to play EM5 on this thing. If you have bought this, so be it, but for $700 you could have built a quality machine that would last you years to come. -

Why would you need to PM Dyson when you could post in the thread? As for rar, a simple google search will give you instant an instant answer. Google is almost always an instant problem solver.

NP. As for Atomic Monkey, not to offend him but I dont think he knows what hes talking about. I could be wrong, as I havent looked at the map aside from the pics, so assuming it just an eft(texture file), e4m(the map data like VOs and such), and dds file(for the minimap) the map should work just fine.

Sometimes we follow this guide to. A few months ago there was a wreck nearby(stupid tress blocking my view). In thisw case Rescue 3, Quint 9, Engine 2 and Engine 4 were called because there were about 5-6 people trapped in two vehicles. In this case AMR was having a hard time getting to the scene because traffic was backing up since the detours just werent meant to handle that volume of traffic. I heard them over the scanner say that fire already had the patient on a backboard, bandaged and ready for transport. lol no problem, sorry if I got carried away just thought it was the best way to describe it. Keep in mind were a mdeium size cit, I suppose, but alot of people myself included grew up here when it was more of a small town environment and some times forget how much the city has expanded over the past 5 years.

I dont think so...I have asked before but didnt get an answer. I could use them though..

Buying a Desktop and laptop on the cheap

Its hard to help if you cant answer questions, again: The topic says desktop AND laptop. The thread says desktop OR laptop. Need to establish that You say 700.00. Is that US Dollars? British Pounds? Euros? Finland currency(whatever they use over there)? Pesos? -
I think your referring to the SG Submod and my first Submod(not the one in the sig).
-
Ok try this, find fp_freeplay.script. It will be in the MISSION folder not the Commands folder(when your inside scripts folder). Now open it and remove everything and paste this in there:

Well if you have an ambulance and pumper/quint/rescue(weather it be say a Ford like the HES in LA Mod or the USAR Truck) responding to a medical aid then arent you beating the crap out of both rigs? As for packing up and such, well in the case of an MVA is it fair to say 9/10 your going to just need a preconnect? If so how long is it really going to take to tear down a preconnect?
-
Go read my response to your other post. Same fix.
-
Most likley a problem with UAC. Google how to disable User Account Control.
-
I dont get what you mean? Every map has custom acidents and triggers, but it still uses the games core files to execute them, so its fine. USMan, as for the logfile: http://forum.emergency-planet.com/index.php?/forum-42/announcement-4-read-before-requesting-assistance/
-
Hmm post a log file. The commands shouldnt need to be removed so long as you dont use them(like the to fire station command)

Well first, lets not generalize this as a US thing. This is not the case in all of the US. If you dont mind let me explain roughly how it is done here in my city and county. In terms of Evansville Fire Department which handles the city, I believe there are some ladder trucks, well quints in our case, that carry extrication tools. Quint 9 has jaws and is assigned to the area I live in. There the only ladder truck I know of for sure in the city with extrication tools. Now just a few days ago there was a bad wreck in front of the main entrance to my apartment complex and it is located on a road with a 45 mph speed limit. So I dont know the specifics but I am guessing the PT Cruiser was more or less t-boned(kinf of like this -\ rather then a perfect t-bone like -| you normally see) so you can imagine the damage done to the drivers door. So 9s comes in but they have a combi-tool rather then a dedicated set of cutters or spreaders. Many FFs will claim these tools are a jack of all trades, but a master of none. In other words in most cases they find combo tools arent as effective as compared to a set of cutters and a set of spreaders. Others have said it is a matter of knowing how to operate them. Anyways, we have two rescue trucks in the city. They carry a dedicated set of spreaders and cutters I believe. In this case 9s I assume didnt think they could handle the extrication so Rescue 3 had to be called in to do it, 10 minuets latter(hey there coming from clear across town and Rescue 1 would be to). R3 shows up and do extrication. A few months ago there was a bad accident on the may as well be high way around the corner from here. Q9 did extrication but again had to call R3 for assistance with extrication. Also a few months ago a guy wrapped his car around a tree at a high rate of speed. The driver ended up dieing if memory serves me right but this time Rescue 1 had to be called. My point is while atleast one of our ladders do carry extrication it is still mainly handled by a rescue, however county is a different beast. There are 5 different volly companies that handle the county. Knight Township which is about 1 mile from where I live and makes runs in this area all the time because of district boundaries, carries extrication tools on there primary engine at each station. McCutchanville FD covers the city of McCutchanville and other area outside city limits. I assume there rescue trucks carry jaws in there case. German Township has a Rescue Truck at both stations. In there case the Rescue trucks do carry the extrication tools. Perry Township has a Rescue Truck in one station that carries there extrication tools. The other Perry station houses a 2-man rescue pumper with a mac cab chassis. Scott Township I wanted to break off from the rest because it is a different beast in its self. 4 Medic 1 serves as first due for medical runs. It is a medium duty Freightliner used for patient transport. Now it also carrys some extrication tools. However the heavier tools are carried on 4 Engine 1. Now 4 Engine 2 at Station 2 is considered a Rescue Pumper so they may carry extrication tools on it, not sure. However I have touched on Station 3. Station 3 has a full set of extrication tools on 4 Engine 3 so I assume there are no extrication tools on 4 Rescue 3. I hope I didnt bore you here , but just pointing out that you cant sum things up based on a country, let alone a county.

We just had a shooting here today, and it seems to be a growing trend. This isnt the quiet city I grew up in any more thats for sure. My friend across the street lives just a few apartments down from his mother. She had some problems, dont recall exactly what..but yeah my friend called me to let me know for some reason, well I just happen to be getting ready to take my dog out anyways. I get out there and see the Ambo turn in the wrong apartment complex despite the street name and apartment names is the same and theres a big sign which would hint that your in the wrong freaking apartment complex. Fire was called for lift assist as she had to be carried down a flight of stairs on a backboard. Atleast 9s found the place on the first try, dunno if my flagging them down actually worked or not. AMR didnt seem to notice me flagging them down to tell them where to go.

Can someone *Xplorer* reccomend me a good nuke?

Spybot was great in its day. I pretty much view Malwarebytes as the new Spybot. Anyways to Gerard, first off the best protection you can get is Nod32 and Comodo Firewall. Nod32 costs like $30 or $40 for a year, and is a bit cheaper then that crapware Norton I believe. Avast and AVG are good free anti-virus but no match for Nod32. Malwarebytes is a great back up system. Now will they remove the virus, maybe, maybe not. In most cases yes, so try them first. Specifically Malwarebytes as theres a free version. Now assuming your still stumped, aside from a reformat the next option is F-Secure Rescue CD. This is written in linux and can run right off a CD with no need to install. Simply plug in an Ethernet cable(the update wont work over wireless in my experience) and then scan. It can take some time so it may be good to run while you sleep. -
Have you opened the program and looked? Theres a big button that says registry. Analyze. Let it run. When done click run cleaner.
