  1. I remember somebody else trying to make an elevated rail, he had partial succes, but I can't seem to find the topic... [edit] found it [/edit]
  2. Creating vehicles How do I export the models I made in Sketchup (.skp) to Z-modeler to create a workable 3D format (.v3o) First of all you need the paid version of Z-modeler to be able to do this succesfully. If you do not have the paid version of Z-modeler you need to look for someone who has the paid version and is willing to do this for you. 1: Start sketchup and load the model you want to export. 2: Export the model as a .3ds model. 3: Start up Z-modeler and import the .3ds model you just exported. 4: Export that model as a .v30 model. Make sure the name of the exported model is the same as the model name in the scene nodes browser With thnx to Ami89E1234 -Exporting models from Z-modeler
  3. Creating a new mod I want to create a new mod, but I do not have any skills. When you want to create a new mod, but you do not poses any skills there isn't much use in asking someone to make the mod for you. Making mods is a very time consuming proces, you will probably not find someone to help you if you cannot participate in the mod. So you will have to learn some modding skills. There are some relatively easy basic modding skills you should try to master before starting a mod. We have several tutorials and these FAQ's to help you master those skills. Of course you can also use the search function or ask questions on this forum if you need more help. What skills should I be able to do when I want to create a new mod? MikeyPI made a FAQ with the most important skills you need to start a new mod. Please read his FAQ carefully if you want to start a new mod. If you feel you do not have sufficient knowledge of some skills, you can follow one of the tutorials or search the forum or the web for beginners manuals. What programs do I need to use to create a new mod? MikeyPI made a FAQ with the most important programs you need to start a new mod. Please read his FAQ carefully if you want to start a new mod. The FAQ lists the download locations of many of the programs you need. If you feel you do not have sufficient knowledge of some prorams, you can follow one of the tutorials or search the forum or the web for beginners manuals. Usually the websites offering the programs also have a short beginners manual to help you get started. How do I create a new mod? Starting a new mod is relatively easy. Can I use (parts of) other mods in my new mod? (Parts of) Other mods are considered copyrighted by the creator of that mod. You will have to ask his permission to use the parts of the other mod in your own mod. Usually they are cool with using scripts as long as you credit them as the creator of the model in a read me you must add to the mod. Using one or two models that were made by somebody else usually isn't a big problem as well as long as you credit the creators of that model and asked for their permission. Usually it isn't allowed to reskin the models made by other people and present that as your own mod. That isn't considered modding, but just stealing other peoples models and pretend you created them by putting another paint scheme on them. You will probably not get permission to release reskinned models only. Some mods have published their own copyright clause, like the LA MOD for example. You can check that clause to see if you are or aren't allowed to use parts of that mod in your own mod.

  5. It can't find the RTS mod on your PC. Choos the browse function (manuel auswahlen) and choose the directory of the RTS mod.
  6. You have a codec problem. The PC can't open the starting video's. Please take a look at the technical help FAQ for a list of bad codecs and a program to find them.
  7. Maybe you should set the graphic settings on high when you start up the game with the in game options menu.
  8. Hoppah just released a new patch. When you install this you will have all the missions again, both the original and the LA MOD missions.
  9. You can use the free version of Z-modeler to edit your models. You just need someone else to convert them to dds format for you if you want to use them in game.
  10. Xplorer and I had a lengthy conversation on PM about this. Although we still disagree on some points I do have to acknowledge he's right about some things he said. We could have split the topic in stead of just keep asking you guys to go back to topic. Unfortunatly we didn't think about that. It is a wise lesson for the future. We would very much appreciate it if people would start talking about bugs and glitches here again in stead of making dumb comments on the four posts above. Any off topic comments will simply be removed to help the topic get started again. If you want to thank Hoppah for all the work he has done so far as an admin and a modder, you can do that here.
  11. Look I'm going to say this one more time: We have a "share your screens here topic" in the off topic section. You can post screens there. This topic is closed.
  12. You know we aren't that strict or else you would have already been banned because you would have had four warnings for language abuse in one post. We do deserve some respect because we are doing this in our free time. I think I ight be suggesting to Stan to let the entire website go off line for a week and see how you all like that. We shouldn't have to be asking everybody five times to go back on topic. You have been around long enough to know off topic things belong in the off topic part of the forum. You want to thank Hoppah and throw a big party for him. We have absolutely no problem with that, in fact we thnk he deserves much more then that. But it doesn't belong in the bug report topic. Start a new topic in the LA MOD forum or in the off topic section if you want to thank Hoppah.
  13. Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. Right click the file and give yourself permission to change the file. Now try again. If it still doesn't work copy the file to the desktop change it their and save it. Also make sure to disable UAC if you are on Vista. Moved to EN Help section.
  14. ERROR: The Vision engine requires support for the ARB_multitexture extension! Please make sure you have the latest video drivers installed for your 3D card. Try switching to video drivers dating from 2008. BTW topic moved to EN help section.
  15. Moved to alterations untill permision is granted to release it as a submod.
  16. No because the fire engines have unlimited water. Asked and answered at least a dozen of times before.
  17. They have e-mail, it isn't that hard
  18. The average frequency value needs to be far greater then 1 if you disable all other events. Try something like 50 or so. Also make sure you edit all the freeplay files in the specs folder in exactly the same way. Moved to alterations.
  19. If you're new and you want to spam the forum, at least choose the correct sub-forum. Moved to off topic.
  20. Yes, it means 500 by 180 pixels total. We won't kill you for a pixel or two. But that's about as far as the limit goes.
  21. You can post videos in the "share your screens topic" in the off topic section.
  22. Do you mind using the edit button in stead of double posting all the time? You have both a screen mode error and a codec error. Try setting the screen mode values in the configuration file on the default values or on the values you are currently using on your computer. Also delete all broken or un-used codecs. For more information see the Technical Help FAQ in the FAQ section.
  23. If you want to spawn them there simply place them on the editor map and add all the commands to the vehicles. Next make sure the name of the model you placed is the same as the names of the models used in game. And why bother with a "call engineer command" for instance when you can just go to the building and click the engineer van? But if you really want it you can just copy the battallion chef script and replace the names of the prototypes and virtual objects. Getting them to back up into the garage is a bit tricky. You need a special positioning script for that like in the winterberg mod. I can't help you with that.
