  1. Thank you, Mike's Photos I never knew who made the bar so you've educated me I just remember it from modelling it a long time ago. I did not know they made a LED varient either I figured they would recycle them as long as humanly possible. Thnx for posting more information on it, perhaps it will teach those who were interested in it about it :1046275747_biggthumpup:

  2. These instructions should make life easier on anyone trying to do this:

    Depending on your operating system you may have to either turn off the protection that will prevent you from modifying the file, Vista has protection on all the filed in the Program Files folder by default, an easy way around this is to copy the file out of there temporarilly to modify it (ensure Read only is not enabled when you modify it or you will not be able to save!).

    You may find the by one of two ways, the file you are looking for should be called "em4.cfg" I believe for all the games but I am not sure. You may attempt to use windows search to find the specific file or manually locate it most likely found in the default installation directory:

    X:\Program Files\(Distributor Name)\(Emergency 4/911 - First Responders/or deluxe)\

    I believe the .cfg file is always going to be found in the root directory of the game which is where you should find the .exe as well.

    There should only be one .cfg found in the game folders making it easy to locate the configuration file.

    Open the .CFG file in Notepad:

    Use the "find" command found under the EDIT menu and enter in the following item:

    "e4_maxcampitch"

    The find command will highlight this text, following the text you will see value="XXX" />

    Replace the XXX with whatever value you wish to use, hoppah provided good values for decent views of the vehicles.

    Repeat the process one at a time for the next three values:

    "e4_maxcamz"

    "e4_mincampitch"

    "e4_mincamz"

    Finally, Save the document and if you moved it you will have to put it back where it was originally found in order for the changes to take place.

    NOTE: You may have to make the file Read-Only under it's properties to prevent the file from being changed by you or the game it's self.

    Hoppah's Settings:

    <var name="e4_maxcampitch" value="80." />

    <var name="e4_maxcamz" value="3500" />

    <var name="e4_mincampitch" value="15" />

    <var name="e4_mincamz" value="100." />

  3. The bar on the roof of the NYPD Highway Patrol is called something like a High-Riser, it is a pretty cool light, the thing has two arms that can tilt upward to give it better lighting visibility, one on each side. The NYPD Aux/Traffic are nadda like the Los Angeles units to me.

  4. Hey guys, try to refrain from bringing up non-related things into the forums of the respective mods, I know the issue was posed and people wished to answer it, but it really does not belong in this topic, general police inquiries and all that can go into a different forum so it does not dillute things it does not belong with.

    Edit: The posts referencing the NYPD Units were moved to the "Emergency Questions, Questions related to apparatus and tactics." Topic.

  5. That truck in the image is more likely than not a Secret Service Detail truck (they use them for motorcade duty). The truck has all the things that the Secret Service trucks pack not the FBI. Looks like it's got some armor, too. The prison idea serves no purpose in the game unfortunately, since there is not a freeplay mission of prison break or anything like it.

    EDIT:

    for lord_bonev:

    NSA National Security Agency is located in the state of Maryland, they act as an intelligence agency, more or less analyzing data from all kinds of sources but not really serving as the traditional law enforcement type of role.

    I understand you wish for there to be more federal units, however, most of the ones you asked for are more of an east-coast thing, they are most often found in the Washington, D.C. area and Maryland, as well as New York City (because of the UN). They occasionally may end up having to roam in LA but for the most part the DSS/Secret Service vehicles you've requested are not really acting as law enforcement, perhaps if there was a mission made with either a Diplomat or Foreign leader or the president in it then they would be required but for the normal gameplay they are not something unique to bring to the LA mod, and in all honesty not really likely to be roaming there too often anyway. Hope this information helps you to understand the federal agencies in the US a little bit better.

  6. He is correct, Vista and FR work perfectly fine with no issues, chances are his computer does not support the screen resolution that has been set, he can either reinstall as suggested and update drivers (recommended regardless). If that fails he should attempt to change the screen resolution in the config file manually, there is a topic related to doing that here, see that for full details on how to do that after updating the drivers and reinstalling is attempted. The issue you describe is video card related more likely than not.

  7. Most older games use the desktop's default refresh rate instead of their own independent one, then again most "older" games also have the option of hardware and software modes built into them as well, with most of these newer games they tend to go one of two routes: a. they have a "configuration" app that will change the settings according to what you tell it to (the prefered option). B. they automatically go with a limited selection of settings you can choose between, which is popular for a multitude of reasons, in this case I have a feeling it was to help save money and the fact this game was designed more or less as an out of the box game type, so in trying to meet most people's needs they did not think about the unique cases like yours and mine. Sorry we could'nt help.

    Seems to be you are right guys :(

    I can hardly imagine that the game was optimized for only LCD monitors, but seems to be really this is the case :s. The strange thing is...all my other games are working perfectly with the desktop refresh rate, even 10 years old games like Panzer General 2 lol :)

    Let's hope EM5 will be more user friendly. Thank you for your answers :)

  8. I cannot find any controller for the refresh rate in the configuration files, which probrably means it is coded to use a default program rate rather than the desktop rate that is common on many other games out there :1046275873_shakehead:

    Hi there,

    I have a little bit annoying problem, related with display... it's the refresh rate.

    My resolution is 1280x1024, the card is a Gainward 8800GT with 1GB Ram. But this doesn't matter :), because this problem exists since I'm installed EM4.

    I'm using a refresh rate of 100Mhz on a "19 CRT monitor. However, 911 doesn't want to use this, always changing back to around 75-85. Couldn't even check though. I've looked into the config file and of course did not find any line related with the refresh rate. The resolution is there, but nothing else.

    Any of you have any ideas what can I do to prevent the game overriding my refresh rate?

    Prevoiously I had Windows XP SP2, now I have Vista, doesn't matter, the problem still comes. :s

  9. All those things looks just amazing.

    Im really looking forward to the release of this mod, not to bother but do you know when it's gonna be released? :)

    All the units looks great! Keep up the good work :D

    It should be fairly obvious by hoppah's statement below the update:

    I have planned some other things I want to make later:

    - A black FBI SUV. MikeyPI has allowed me to use his '07 Tahoe.

    - The FBI Command Vehicle will heal persons who are inside the vehicle.

    - The FBI Command Vehicle will be able to buy FBI agents.

    - A new sniper rifle command for the FBI agents. It will look like this.

    I hope everyone like the new additions.

    Hoppah

    I'd say you're in for a bit of a wait, the tahoe is white, it has to be turned into an FBI Truck, right now it is an unmarked unit, yes, but there is crap all over it that has to go in order to make it the FBI's, so that'll take a margin of time to change over.

    Then you have two totally unique scripts that have to be made and checked, that'll be some time in of it's self to make them work let alone perfectly. And the sniper command which is an evolved version of the original, so again more time... Patience is a virtue, learn to embrace it.

  10. I have to give my credits as well, thanks to MikesPhotos for giving me extremely good pictures of the LA MCV so that I could accurately model the vehicle to the one in Los Angeles instead of Washington, D.C.

    Also, be forwarned, the FBI LA MCV tends to get into fights around corners if two big vehicles meet, the thing is a cool toy but it is huge :1046275873_shakehead:

  11. EDITED:

    I have attempted the very same task myself and have ran into problems as well, perhaps there is a way to make this work but I do not see a viable one at this time. The game probrably does not like reversed ladders like the ones shown in the pictures, perhaps there is a way around it but I could not find one.

    thanks for the pick to illustrate my point, problem starts when ladder is turned, i have tried saving it modded with a different center to try and work backwards and no go. I have tried eveything possible and it does not work right.
  12. This topic was created to help filter questions regarding equiptment and tactics used by all the emergency agencies away from modding topics and into a unified field where all manner of questions can be asked and hopefully answered by others who know alot more than I do about the different tools used in the trade. Feel free to use this topic to ask about the purpose of a vehicle regardless of region, the uses of equiptment, and the purpose of personnel. Hopefully others will have a good idea of what they do and what they are called.

  13. i dont know how i must say this in english

    but it is for places were no fire hydrants stays and for extra reserve ( the reserve must going up) time for scripting

    while realistic to have tankers rolling around, it is just not required in the game considering that the water tenders all have an infinite supply line and never need to be hooked to any hydrants. That is an issue in the game they choose to do, probrably to avoid the headache of not having access to water in some situations.. So I would not expect that item to be created since it's purpose is not required in the game.

  14. The old LAPD CRASH cars used to have steady burns if I am not mistaken, but the steady burns just turn on when the emergency lights go on as mike said, just like any other aux light you can cut them off with the flip of a switch. In the end the best cars for being discreet are the narco cars for example which tend to be "borrowed" from the impound lot, cars that either the owner will never claim or cars that have been siezed for one reason or another. Pretty much everywhere in the US practices this kind of behavior since it gives them a car that does not look like a cop car that will allow them to hide pretty well. Some cases they use their civilian cars but that is not as common for insurance issues and things of that nature, besides you would not want to be detected as a cop and have the criminals you just chased down knowing your civil car. Mike is correct that most of those vehicles do not carry auxilliary lighting, it is fairly hard to do a drug deal on the corner if you have a christmas tree of a car, chances are your mark will notice the lights.

  15. I am too lazy to open the script or the editor at the moment so I am working off of memory, if you mark the light as a "special" light it should light them up. I am not 100% sure at this moment but I am pretty sure that should work with that script if it is the same as the standard flood script. Floodlight on enables special lights=true or something of the sort... Like I said I am working off my memory, so hopefully it'll work.
