  1. 911:FR IS capable of running on Vista, I run it under Compatibility mode: Aministrator permissions (this allows it to tamper with files as needed that would be otherwise unavailable to it)... I have to further look at your logfile before I will know whether or not that is the only potential issue.

  2. It is a varient of the Blackhawk Equipped to address fire related issues (though I believe during it's off season it is used for SAR and Medivac usage).. I am not sure but I believe that it is swapped over to pull other duties when it is not needed in fire suppression. The Blackhawk has many varients, some of which are just nicknames granted by their owners, the ones I am aware of and 100% certain exist from the varient list are:

    Blackhawk

    Pavehawk

    Seahawk

    Jayhawk

    Firehawk (civilian varient for fire suppression/multirole)

    EDIT:

    Sorry MikesPhotos, I guess we posted at the same time, but we both have the same answer... I responded while you were posting apparently:(

  3. Check the masking of the object, chances are you have it painted to turn it into a transparent vehicle, I do not know for sure but that would be my guess is that you did that. If you use I believe it is total BLACK alpha channel it will make the model appear transparent.

  4. One thing I have tried everyway possible and had no success was mid mount aerials anyone prove me wrong? I would be very glad if you could because the game is truly missing them

    I do not quite know what you mean by Mid-Mount Aerial Trucks, but IF the vehicle has a standard type ladder I do not believe it plays any role as long as the fire fighter can reach the basket to get up in the air. A multi-arm system is currently an issue nobody can solve(probrably impossible). The game's engine is designed for ladders to rotate and extend on the same axis. By this I mean the ladder has a single rotation point, from there the ladder turns and elevates, then the segments will extend outward as needed. I am unaware of a solution that will allow you to change this measure other than a hard-scripted event (which would limit the truck dramatically to only doing one movement alone when it deploys). If it is a standard straight line ladder, regardless to how it is mounted it should still be capable of functioning regardless of placement on the vehicle as long as the firemen can reach the basket. IF the basket is out of reach they can't enter it to use it, making it do nothing at all.

    For the very same reason a functional Cherry Picker is not likely to work properly unless it is a scripted static object.

  5. For those of you who have had issues with 911:FR related to the Screen Resolution in any way including failure to load, hopefully this section will help you out:

    1).Screen Flashes and crashes to desktop is most likely caused by either incompatible drivers/video card or possibly the following issue: Your screen Resolution is higher than what your video card supports (or monitor).

    The way to solve this if you do not wish to uninstall/delete the files and reinstall is fairly easy if you follow the directions below.

    Open em4.cfg in Notepad (ensure that the document is not read-only at this time and that the user profile you are in can modify it).

    <var name="r_xres" value="----" />

    <var name="r_yres" value="---" />

    the "----" is the resolution you have selected, you can manually enter in any value you want, but it is recommended that you choose either what your current screen resolution is, or below it. For EX: X:800 Y:600 as a safe number.

    Should you choose to change it to a custom value, you may want to make your CFG. File a "Read-Only" Document, this is done by right clicking on the document and selecting properties and clicking read-only.

    If you want to make your game run in windowed mode, change this value:

    <var name="r_fullscreen" value="1" />

    1=True

    0=False

    My screen runs in an unusual resolution so I had to manually type in my screen resolution in order for it to fill my widescreen monitor properly. I hope this helps any of you who either made the mistake of choosing a screen res too high for your hardware, or those of you with issues related to the screen not being filled completely.

  6. It was a joke, I brought the bayonette, he brought the knife... I was simpifying the comment down, apparently I should've clarified, anywho time for the picture to come along.. Just alil post-April fun for everyone as everyone expects it on the first of the month:)

    If you looked closer you would have noticed the writing below the image and the count.... Voodoo was right on the mark with that one, there were other cues it was a joke but apparently they went by missed by everyone.

    take care

    :1046276160_schildbacktotopic:

    Wouldnt it then be a bayonet fight?
  7. He works hard to keep the realism in the mod, but remember he does have the help of mike to get him info on what is currently in use in LA, that helps alot with realism but his knowledge to begin with is pretty high up there. Pretty much LA and NYC are the only places where you can find decent pictures of most of their apparatus' in use.

  8. Other than some quirks with the system the program does stabilize connection issues fairly well and make it pretty easy to use to play together online overall, I dislike some of the things it does but overall it definately improves the performance of the mp function.

  9. I just run games as the administrator across the board on all games to ensure that there is no issue resulting from that end, so take that advice, what is your CPU speed clocked at? you have listed the model but the speed would be of help too... like 1.5GHZ 2.0GHZ etc....

    Disable the making of screenshots when saving you can do that in your config file by changing the value of screenshots to 0. I cant tell you the exact line as I'm at school right now.
  10. The Directional Aux Bars are not necessarilly required to get the same effect you could use a script without the lights and retain authenticity if you wanted them to clear vehicles off their backs...(I know nadda bout LAFD equiptment). I have myself looked up water tankers, they sadly do not seem to have many of em around these days, most of them are on older chassis, the helicopters and planes seem to be the prefered method of dealing with remote fire suppression... But Mike is from the area and can easilly find newer ones if they are in service there.

    wat i meant for the engines.. i meant the water tender... HEY HOPPAH.. another idea..i know sad huh... lol.. anyway wat bout making a tanker? just a thought... if the LAFD has one... guess mike can help me out on that
  11. Okay, Vehicle speed is dictated by the vehicle, meaning if a car is set to only go 60... it's prototype will do only 60 if it is set to 120 it will do 120... making cars go faster because a road is clear to my knowledge is not possible.

    Multiple airplanes is not permitted due to hard-coding to my knowledge there is no workaround to this issue, the game was designed to permit but one plane at a time.

    Freeplay events are coded into the game, perhaps you could make new ones but I am not even sure as to where you would add these events... but I am sure it would take a great deal of time....

    The criminals cannot make the car go faster than it is supposed to in it's file, the car's speed is dictated by that so unless you want ALL cars of that prototype to speed like that, I do not know if you can make it go faster.

    Criminals in 4 apparently are coded to run a certain distance only, unlike before where they tried to get away, perhaps this is possible to work at but I do not believe so. Alot changed between 3 and 4 some for the good, some for the bad, some things that might have worked in 3 won't work in 4.... sucks but it is what it is.

    Hoopah can speak for or against what I mentioned as he'd know better, and he can tell you about the rest because I do not know if it is possible to script them to do the other things you want.

  12. You will probrably want to at least try to work on modding on your own to start, most people who frequent here are from the Western countries, so they have not seen most of the vehicles you would be asking them to build and most of the modelers and scripters are predisposed right now in other mods, be their own or other people. So my suggestion is to at least try to start off on your own to hopefully spark interest by some modeler who might have the free time to lend a hand. Right now it seems more or less like you're selling a concept but no real direction yet, that will be a tough sell to gather people to help you out.

    Perhaps if you try your best to start off on your own, there are plenty of methods to make a model, you just have to shop around and find one you can understand. Z-Modeler tends to be favored for it's easy user-interface.

    take care, best of luck.

  13. Hopefully This will get PINNED so that people know not to request these items in a mod as the game cannot replicate them at all. As well as some decent conduct parameters when it comes to the mods made.

    1).Fire Engine Apparatus Ladder trucks with articulating Trailers. Essentially the Rig and trailer with the ladder on it, the game cannot do this correctly to anyone's knowledge. It is most likely impossible due to the hard coding in the game so that is not a probable realistic attribute to find in this game.

    LA Mod 1.9 has released this, therefore it is possible.

    2).Police Pursuits, this is something that as of right now is not possible to encode be it through scripting or built into the game. It may be possible but is not something that was intended to take place so do not repeatedly ask for it because it is highly likely it is not possible. The criminals in this game WANT to get away and stop when engaged by the police, this is hard coded to make them ignore this may be impossible.

    Pursuits are still impossible, as a big pursuit, however units can be chased down, and made to stop, such as in the chase script.

    3).Animation related issues.... Animations can do many things but do not make the mistake of believing animations make everything possible, animations are designed for specific operations they are more or less scripted to do what they do, they are NOT dynamic, this limits their functionality by a vary large margin. You cannot make an animation that is "dynamic" meaning that these essentially respond like a script, they are meant to do one thing only, thus limiting their ability to do a whole gambit of things.

    Animation Note: Animations are used for things such as putting down the legs of a truck, rotation of the rotors on helicopters and things of that nature on vehicles, people have more variables theoretically, but still remember these things are not easy.

    4).Things available in one game may NOT work in another, meaning something that works in 4 may not be possible in 3 and vice versa, even though the games are theoretically based loosely on the same engine, there were many changes between the games making certain things much much more difficult to produce authentically.

    5).Read through the suggestions previously mentioned in a mod forum before suggesting something the modder has declined for their current or next version, requesting the same thing repeatedly when they have said they have no plans to pursue that modification at this time is not necessary.

    ==============================================================================

    Notation on Suggestions which the modification maker has declined to do in their current version or in their next version:

    If a suggestion is made and the mod-maker declines it, repeatedly requesting the same thing which they declined to do at this time does not further motivate them to wish to do this objective, in fact, it has the reverse effect if anything it makes them want to hold off on it even longer.

    If a mod-maker says something is impossible, take them at their word, chances are it cannot be made in the game. It may be possible there is an unknown workaround to the problem, but if it is unknown at this time modders cannot make it happen.

    If you have constructive criticism it is one thing, but refrain from pointing out pathetic issues like lighting patterns, realize most of the modders are not 100% familiar with the particular area that their mod is from and do the best they can to be authentic but it takes a great deal of time to place the lighting on a vehicle properly.

    If the author is notified of an issue within the mod somewhere within their forum or in their bug reporting once, there is no need to mention the same issue twice, it can be rather annoying to see the same complaint 10 times in a row.

    Especially refrain from leaving criticism that you do not like something without anything more comprehensive to justify the post, a post that says "I don't like it" contributes nothing useful to a topic, if it is not constructive there really is no need to say it.

    Modifications made for this game are very time consuming and very difficult if you make a comprehensive "full" mod, most mods are either in-progress or completed versions with updates to come, so just because something is not present in the current version does not mean it will not be before the mod is either released or updated. This game is NOT at all easy to make a comprehensive mod for, so understand it takes time and be patient and if the mod maker enjoys his work (that is what this game is, a great deal of work) perhaps they will evolve their mod further down the line to include more features.

    Please do not post negative comments in this post, if you have any other limitations to the game I have not mentioned, feel free to add them to this list so that people will know and hopefully understand the things which cannot be done, or the things which there is currently no known solution to. Some bugs out there cannot be resolved so if anyone knows of these in particular feel free to add them.

    take care

  14. Enough... Simple enough there is nothing wrong with constructive critisism, if it is a very significant issue, but do not pick on someone's mod because they have the light pattern wrong or you do not like a particular addon they decided to put into their mod. After all, it seems most of these mods out there are WIP but they look like they are gonna have a ton of vehicles so if you do not like a particular one, do not use it. Simple imo.... I know how it feels to put a great deal of work into things and have people pick at them to the point where you just wanna say "I'm done" because you cannot satisfy everyone.

    I give hoop alotta credit for actually releasing his mod for one, and evolving it, there is always going to be this void between those who want realism and those who want fun entertaining gameplay... You as a modder cannot win in the end. I hope this puts and end to this, because several of the modders spoke their peace and I agree with them...

    Take care, let it go..

  15. They made an early adaptation to the MX7K to include Halogen Strobe modules, they sadly, did not adapt it to LED as well to my knowledge, really there is minimal difference in size if you filter the glass you can see them both a mile a way. I have seen them both quite some time ago (as I said it has been some time since I have bothered to pay attention to them). With the strobe modules the configuration potentials are practically identical as modules go, patterns are a different story if you pay for the advanced control module.

    The main difference i've seen is the excalibur is a lower profile version of the MX7000 and it has the ability to not only be used with rotators in the mirror, but also strobes and LED modules. The Excalibur used by the county police in my area is a strobe Excalibur. The older state police cars where I live use MX7000 as well, but personally between the MX7000 and Excalibur... I would pick the Excalibur to use because, A: its lower profile, B: has alot of different possible configuration possibilities.
  16. TY for refreshing my memory on the two bars (I built two high poly models of them a long time ago so I forgot their differences) I still stand by my assumption they use the same pattern regardless of the one being LED (which throws a huge wrench into the guess).... but the placements match so I'd presume they are the same patterns on both of them. I have no idea though as I am not a cali boy, most places I've seen with multiple bars unless it is impossible to use the same pattern (a Vector for example) they stick to their old school patterns).

  17. The excalibur should (this is a guess here as I am nowhere near LA) be relatively similar to the MX 7K pattern being they are similar bars with minor differences in their design, I cannot recall for certain exactly which parts vary other than dimensions.... Don't hold me to it but most places that use the 7K and Exc. use similar if not identical patterns for both.

  18. I agree the bar is fine, the simple fact is that is the future for several reasons.

    1).LED is far more concealable but twice as effective as the nearest competitor lighting apparatus for warning purposes.

    2).LED functions include extreme user-control (if you pay for a good enough unit) you can change the light patterns or intensity on the fly.

    3).Most companies are phasing out their older models to where pretty soon there will not be a choice but to buy the things.

    low-profile like the whelen edge lowpro led and the arjent led are designed to be more concealable to assist in traffic enforcement while preserving the lighting abilities of the larger counterparts... Whether people in america wanna admit it, most the time our cop cars find more use as traffic enforcement, it is alot easier to hide a low-pro behind a trunklid than it is a huge vista for example:)

    The Aux lights tend to find their way in unmarked vehicles for the very same reason as their marked counterparts they are swapping to LED, unless you are good you would never notice a well concealed LED hidden somewhere on a car, especially if it was one which worked especially well with the LED lighting system... Try spotting an LED in the back of an Impala at 200 yards, you can't do the same with the old lights you know they are there.

    im not disagreeing that LEDs are the way to go, seeing as im the one who pretty much made the suggestion to change up the lightbars in the first place. lol. i just wanna see what it looks like ingame. obviously your not going to be playing with that close up of a zoom level so it wont look "as big" (hoppah's model is right-on to the scale of the real thing as far as im concerned)
  19. Precisely... The editor distorts things fairly bad, what may appear proper in the editor can quickly become distored once in the game (common with all "perspective" based editors).. I have made vehicles in the past where I attempted to use the editor alone to guesstimate the dimensions only to fail miserably due to the perspective elongating the vehicle, making it look stubby, you name it. The dimensions may be slightly off but I do not believe it to be a critical issue, though he'll know once he dumps it in and views it under normal conditions. El~Vista and Arjent share alotta traits, to me both of them look off compared to the norm but they are what they are, the Arjent looks more peculiar due to the flattened top.

    like i said, i think viewing it in an ingame environment will clearly show how it looks. hoppahs gotta test it ingame anyway so its not really going out of his way to post a few screens :-)

    EDIT: Plus, you wont be looking at it with that close up of a zoom ingame, which should make it look smaller.

  20. It is a pancacked Vista lightbar, so it will look funny because the dimensions are not the same as it's bretheren all the way around.... It makes it appear "off" I believe it to be slightly off but I do not know if I agree with ya'll on revamping the whole thing is needed because of it. I have compared the real bar to the model already and there are slight size faults but nothing severe.... You are probrably used to the Vista which is alot taller (makes the dimensions look better) compared to the pancake.

  21. "Ladder 49" =Baltimore Mod, I do not know if anyone is building one or not, but essentially Baltimore City, Maryland is where they filmed the movie using their apparatus, so either way you'd end up with the same end result.

    It's a great movie.

    It's a great movie.
