  1. Respect to those police officers who have to deal with that. However, it does kinda shows how defenseless unarmed police officers actually are. The ones in the video are panicking (especially the one calling it in) and to me it just looks like they weren't trained to deal with a situation like this. Why the hell wasn't the suspect restrained before they put him in the police vehicle? Even before they found the drugs, one of the officers thought that 'something wasn't right'. Anyway, those police officers basically relied on backup once it escalated . Even funnier, you would expect that bystanders would provide help, especially if nobody apparently owns guns in the UK. I like what you said and I nearly tend to agree. However it does raise questions. Especially regarding this: "If the same incident was to happen in the UK, almost exactly the same response would have happened but with unarmed and then armed officers as they arrived. This was a murder that turned into a barricaded-suspect situation, he set fire to the house and one could suppose he was trying to start a victim-precipitated suicide by cop by engaging the police. One could argue that the deterrent of armed officers prevented him from fleeing the scene but that seems unlikely." I'm aware the suspect in the video in the first post probably had no intentions to flee. Just like most shootings, maintaining a perimeter is usually the main objective to prevent escalation. But how they hell can you safely maintain a fully secured perimeter with unarmed police officers if you're facing armed suspects? You cannot imo. Alot can happen between the call for armed backup (by police) until arrival of said armed backup. With the knowledge of facing unarmed police officers for at least 10 minutes, I'd take my chances if I was a suspect with a gun and I wanted to live free. Anyway, its an interesting subject to talk about. I'm sure the whole unarmed police policy works fine in the UK, but I'm just constantly wondering if they're really willing to take those extra risks, which may result in deaths which could've been prevented.
  2. Not really imo. Incidents like this (and far worse) can be fully expected under current US gun laws. *roll-eye. I have alot of respect for police officers, but their job comes with extra risks, especially in the US. It is what it is. Why not? UK policing culture may be different, but if (very unlikely though) the same incident happened in the UK, the suspect could've theoratically escaped easy before armed officers could respond. Without a gun there isn't so much you can do against a suspect with a rifle. I'm aware that shooting incidents are extremely rare in the UK due to their gun laws, but the whole debate regarding issueing handguns to police officers in the UK is kinda hilarious. Talking about expecting the unexpected, there is always a chance of a British 'Breivik' to happen. Debate will be over when that happens, because we aren't no longer talking about contained incidents. There will always be people with completely twisted minds like Breivik running around. You kinda rely on armed police to stop lone wolves like that as soon as possible. It's imo unacceptable they would have to wait an extra five minutes (probably longer) for a UK firearm unit to respond to a killing spree like that. But that's just me, it's imo worth the investment to issue handguns to all police officers to save innocent lives including those of police officers. Or are incidents like this (a murder of 2 UK police officers while on duty) considered acceptable losses in the UK? Because -unfortunately- thats what they basically are. The video is shocking, but other than the suspect (+ his daughter and his mother-in-law?), nobody died right? The officer who got shot survived, thank god. No offence, but there are far worse shooting incidents, like that Rodger kid who went on a killing spree a few weeks ago, because he couldn't get a girl.
  3. Nope, never been interested either. They aint really a good way to make money, unless you're an early buyer.
  4. You're welcome my non-English speaking friend.
  5. Abu Dhabi is where all the cute kittens go. Ot: I like the idea of having more mods in different parts of the world, but I doubt anyone will take your suggestion into consideration.

    Goodbye

Conduct like this doesnt exactly help the cause. You're taking the whole deal a bit way too serious. But whatever, you're free to go where you want. Like I said in the convo, I never had bad feelings towards you. You are a decent person, like SparkyTheGreat just said, thats why we recruited you in the first place.
  7. You just want to use a different animation when using the extinguisher or something? The 'useextinguisher' animation for persons are hardcoded to that specific action (use the extinghuisher) I think. Or did you mean something else? Your posts aren't very clear.
  8. Why? They should add useless shit like a skybox to EM5 just so you can take prettier pictures from angles you never use in the real game? This game aint a FPS.

    My BOSTON MOD Edit!

Looks good, spotted some new buildings.
  10. Yeah, computers, especially desktops, aren't that expensive anymore.

    My BOSTON MOD Edit!

No hay problema! Mod looks okey. Looks like an LA Mod Submod though.
  12. Perhaps your old graphics card wasn't able of showing alpha reflections and turned them off automatically.
  13. I wish. You have to wreck the cars manually (in Zmod for example) and edit the texture in Photoshop
  14. Finally found some time to look at your scripts and write a reply. Check your PM box. Most of the issues are kinda complex, so I couldn't help you thát well. You should locate the exact location of the problems first before spending alot of unnecessary time in a lot of big scripts that may be involved. I usually do that by temporarily adding PlayHints or Log codes to simply show signals that the correct scripts/codes are being executed.
  15. Don't even remember. Download works fine, thats whats matters.
  16. Cross out Sketchup, because it's only optional. Zmod 2 or 3 are actually required to export files to the compatible game format, v3o. There's no other 3d software that can export to .v3o, which makes them optional. It's an important difference before people purchase the wrong software. Depending on your preferences you can always go for other 3d-software later. However, be aware of possible conversion issues between alternative software and Zmod 2 or 3.
  17. Here you go, an example: GeneralComplete name : D:\Emergency 4 Deluxe\Data\Lang\de\Supervisor\ID_CAMP_INTRO_M02.mpgFormat : MPEG-PSFile size : 2.66 MiBDuration : 39s 600msOverall bit rate : 563 KbpsWriting library : encoded by TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress Version. 3.0.4.24VideoID : 224 (0xE0)Format : MPEG VideoFormat version : Version 1Format settings, BVOP : YesFormat settings, Matrix : DefaultDuration : 39s 600msBit rate mode : VariableBit rate : 455 KbpsWidth : 160 pixelsHeight : 120 pixelsDisplay aspect ratio : 4:3Frame rate : 25.000 fpsColor space : YUVBit depth : 8 bitsScan type : ProgressiveCompression mode : LossyBits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.949Stream size : 2.15 MiB (81%)Writing library : TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress Version. 3.0.4.24AudioID : 192 (0xC0)Format : MPEG AudioFormat version : Version 1Format profile : Layer 2Duration : 39s 600msBit rate mode : ConstantBit rate : 96.0 KbpsChannel(s) : 1 channelSampling rate : 32.0 KHzCompression mode : LossyStream size : 464 KiB (17%)Imo, I'd make sure the codec is MPEG Vid 1 and keep the resolution (160x120 px) the same as well. Audio must be mono indeed. The other settings do not really matter I think.
  18. You cannot really edit the original UI elements for a modification. The added and changed UI files to the mod will not be loaded. The easiest way to change the message ticker is to edit the files in your Data folder, which is imo not really diserable. Lesson nr 1: Never ever change original data files. It is also possible to add new UI elements in missionscripts (instead of editing original files), but that requires extensive scripting knowledge.
  19. Download works fine on my end. I've removed the flag.
  20. Indeed. However, the only thing the map lacks is more buildings that better represent LA or at least the US. The map still contains many of the original EM4 buildings which are -unfortunately- more Europian looking. When I build the map back then (been a while now) I just didn't have that much time to build structures myself, so there's only a couple of new buildings, such as those apartments, the carwash, stripmall and pawn shop. I've been to LA myself last year (f*ck yeah, finally, long flight though) and I'm fully aware the map can depict real LA much better, even if the map layout remains totally fictional (kinda like GTA V). However, I had to make decisions back then, so I could at least release a map within a fair amount of time that would look more American than the original freeplay maps. I think I made the right choice back then.
  21. I personally don't think its a very high-priority suggestion. I mean how lazy do you wanna get if you don't even wanna swap plates on a texture? How often do you look at the plates anyway? Especially if the car textures itself are/look already relatively low res (no offence). But if the author wants to go for it anyway, I'd suggest a seperate texture for the plates without child-objects, which saves a lot of files for an insignificant detail.
  22. As for as I know not all models are originally made by him. And the title says WIP, which basically means the pack hasn't been released yet.
  23. Here you go, seperate model and texture. Can be added/assigned to the model easily. bumper.rar model by MikeyPI texture by Hoppah Make sure to credit original authors of models when posting pictures and more importantly, when you're releasing your modification.
