If it's AO then the pearents HAVE to prove that they're 18. Plus you know there are rape sceens ect. that younger kids shouldn't be seeing, it's courruption of a minor.Now I don't hate GTA (I just don't play it often) but I think it's out of hand. jab16 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Share Posted August 30, 2009 I think manily the problem is the development of the person's brain ( not to sound rude ) and there abality to determine real from fiction and whether they are mature enought to handel the game, and i think parents should be the ones to judge that. Did your parents ever forbid you to play a certain game? Mine didn't. Mine even bought me GTA 1 and Carmageddon when I was like 10. I come from a time where the effect of violence in games was not really known. Back in the time it was like: "Games are games, they're not real". Games weren't that realistic like nowadays though, but we live in an era where games and game producers are the first one who are getting blamed when some crazy kid kills a couple of people on a school campus. Parents should check their kids better, but most of them are either too lazy or don't know what very violence games and movies CAN do to younger people. When I was 12 I only played games on a computer when it was cold or raining outside. That's different these days. In my opinion, you can't have kids of that age play on a computer for hours a day, because that might turn them into some unsocial asshole and totally closed off of the real hard world outside, and that's exactly how violent games affect younger kids.I'm not sure what the M rating is. I don't really care either because I am 21 and don't have kids. GTA 4 should be rated 16+, because you don't see porn (besides some humping and invisible genitals), dismembered/mutilated people (you don't want to know what REALLY happens to bodies when you hit them with a car at 120 mph), dead kids and racism at all in this game. Newfoundking Posted August 31, 2009 Report Share Posted August 31, 2009 I would probably let my kids play these games when they were old enough, but only if they were mature enough, because let's face it, there are some 20 year olds with the maturity level of a 13 year olds, and vice versa...Unfortunately, you aren't grouped by maturity, but by age. Which is good in some cases as well. Parents should have the sense enough to say it's too graphic and you aren't mature enough, however that isn't the case..Sometimes I think the FCW should become a real organization that can enforce this stuff... The whack jobs that give these games bad wraps, are already screwed up and giving them a game like this lets them think they can do this irl...Sure I have always looked at it this way, if you teach them it is just a game, and nothing else, then it could be good, because if they ever wanted to hurt someone, they could go and beat the life out of a hundred fake people and shoot it up, getting it out of their system..
