  1. I feel like spamming smilies now thank you very much, the first method worked! Now I know how to counter all these problems, I can get on with the project! I'm not far away from getting the first police car in-game, and this Vectra can be part of traffic. Police Vectra work:
  2. The same way you edit cars, I guess .. use zmodeler
  3. Thanks, it worked! But now I have another problem .. in-game, dark blotches appear on the car -.- No such problems are visible in Zmodeler or Blender but they just pop up here, it's very annoying. The normals are fine. How can I fix this? If it's some sort of smoothing error then I am going to just use low-poly boxes with textures on... to me, it looks like shadows are being cast onto the model :| .. if so, I really hope you can turn that off.
  4. Hello, I have a little question.. I've UV Mapped the Vectra in Blender and generated its texture from there too, with Ambient Occlusion .. in Zmodeler, I have it all set up right (with the UV Mapper and everything) except for one thing - no texture. How do I load the texture? I found a button called Texture Browser, but this doesn't seem to sort my problem at all :\
  5. I think it would be very cool if the criminal symbol only appeared at the point where the criminal was reported and stayed still.
  6. I'm not too sure .. maybe the map could be set where it's mostly city, but there's a section of countryside with a bit of river? Maybe the map could be set at the corner of a city, where the city then ends and it becomes a bit more rural (although the transition is normally gradual, but it could be different). Updated Vectra pics in original post.
  7. It's in-game but it has terrible smoothing issues, so I'm going to remake it from scratch again.
  8. How can I rescale models in ZModeler? Using Scale doesn't have an in-game effect, it seems. I expected this - it's waaaaay too small in-game. Help would be really great, because I can't do anything until I figure this out. Is it like Blender where if you re-scale/rotate it in Object mode, you must then apply the scale and angles in order for exported models to be that scale too? Another question - how would I go about creating crash scenes in the Editor? I put some "wrecked sliceable cars" down, set them up so some have people in, and then created a trigger around the scene just because the others have them. However, I don't know how triggers work in this game. Is there something that must be scripted? I don't see how just putting a trigger around the scene would make the cars all only appear together and after a call and not after the initial map load (how would it know to do that when I have not told it to?).
  9. Is 911:FR the same as EM4 Deluxe?
  10. Yeah that would be cool if you could do that, thanks. Some more possible cars I saw today: A Skoda Octavia marked police car - low profile lightbar, all-blues but a couple of reds on the back. Same with a BMW M5. Also, anyone willing to join the project is welcome, I need someone who can script, and someone who can map. I'm not very good with that.
  11. Yes. According to UK Emergency, there is a black armoured Land Rover that is used as an ARV. They say it is used in Staffordshire, however, a video of such a Land Rover and its armed squad in action in Quinton, Birmingham, can be found on YouTube: It is, of course, not their only ARV, and it is likely that only one exists in the WMP fleet. Thanks for the information about the other ARVs, I will add those then, too. But never have I ever seen a police V70. I think Yorkshire Police have them, but not West Mids. I doubt we even have them in the fleet.
  12. Birmingham is in the West Midlands, so I know all this already If you have anything to correct about the following, please do not hesitate to point it out, before I end up making something that shouldn't even be in the mod. Thanks! POSSIBLE VEHICLES OF WMM --- Police Vehicles --- Vauxhall Astra - marked, blue grille lights, headlight wig-wags, blue rotating lights on top - by far the most common patrol car of the West Midlands Police. Vauxhall Vectra - marked, blue grille lights, headlight wig-wags, blue rotating lights on top - these are probably dispatched specifically. Ford Transit Community Police - light grey/silver and marked, blue grille lights, two sets of blue rotating lights on top - this is for community-related police stuff. Ford Transit Riot Police - marked, blue grille lights, two sets of rotating lights on top protected by a wire frame, with another frame to pull down over the windscreen. Armoured Land Rover ARV - lightly marked, blue grille lights, no lights on top - a black heavily modified, armoured Land Rover Defender 110 used by armed police. BMW X5 - marked, blue grille lights, an all-blue low-profile lightbar on top, headlight wig-wags. BMW M5 - dark grey, unmarked, blue grille lights, headlight wig-wags. Volvo S60 ARV - marked, blue grille lights, all-blue low-profile lightbar on top, headlight wig-wags. Range Rover Sport ARV - marked, blue grille lights, all blue low-profile lightbar on top. LDV Maxus - light grey/silver and marked, blue grille lights, two sets of blue rotating lights on top. Renault Espace - marked, blue grille lights, headlight wig-wags, blue rotating lights on top. --- Emergency Medical Vehicles --- Honda CR-V Rapid Response Vehicle - blue dashboard lights, all blue low-profile lightbar on top, blue lights on front bumper, headlight wig-wags. Volvo V70 Rapid Response Vehicle - blue grille lights, all blue low-profile lightbar on top, blue dashboard lights, headlight wig-wags. Vauxhall Movano - blue lights on all sides at the top and in the grille, headlight wig-wags. Renault Master - blue rotating lights built into the corners of the roof of the ambulance, grille lights, and headlight wig-wags. --- West Midlands Fire Service --- Various Scanias, Volvos and Dennis firetrucks .. ------------------ Yes, that is alot of cars, but keep in mind that some won't make it in. Also, to keep you from having to browse through a huge list of police cars in-game before finding the right one, I might use the system of having a dispatch control room, like in the Florian Hamburg mod.
  13. I think there is a plant in Merseyside, you might have only seen a dealership or an advert though.
  14. That's good. It's not really going to have an interior, seeing as it doesn't really need one. It might have an opening trunk and door but that would just be a matter of about 20 polygons or so. I leave you with a picture of a roofless Vauxhall Vectra, then (first post). Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to work on it until Friday or maybe even Saturday, but I won't have much left to do .. UV mapping, creating some simple lightbar meshes .. then the mesh aspect of the Vectra will be complete. It would be nice if some people could help, because I don't think I'd be able to map very well. Maybe make a landscape, but beyond that ... well, we'll see how it goes. Goodnight everyone.
  15. Thanks for your kind words Maximum total polygons being rendered in-game at any one time (doubt it, that's a very low number for that, but just want to be sure) or maximum for a model? I know I can keep one model under 4000. 4000 is very high for me!
  16. But higher-poly will generally mean more lag, especially if you're going to have lots of them. I don't really know. Updated images in original post.
  17. What is a good maximum poly-count? Mine's already 204 polygons
  18. Thanks! Oh, by the way, any photos of Vectras from the top would be great, if you can find some.

Thanks to them, I will be able to make this mod more realistic.
  20. Documentaries tend not to give false information about things, and the only time I ever saw an unrealistic thing in a movie was when in a show called Paradox a police van gave chase to a car .. vans don't do chases in real life. They always use Vauxhall Vectras (Vauxhall 4 door saloon? I can't keep up with Opel/Vauxhall's car names) in these films, maybe they're the cheapest.
  21. Okay I got it, but only certain buildings are available for that command and I'm 100% sure the building I'm trying to use it on has an interior (entry button is visible and I can see it through the windows). I think it might be a bug with the mod because other buildings work fine ...
  22. Ah, okay, thanks. I tried it before though - what equipment do I need to use? The axe didn't work.
  23. Well Rettungsdienst is the German equivalent of EMS, if I remember right. The RTW, or "Rettungswagen", is a typical ambulance, and it has medics inside who can use the stretcher and heal. Notarzt is the doctor's car. I have a little problem too though, there's a house near the bottom of the map. I can't enter it even though it has an interior and the Enter Building icon appears. When I try, it says something in German without any text and doesn't let me in :\ Says something that sounds like " das gebeiest wosloschen" and then some other things. I don't know what it's actually saying D:
  24. The crashing problem is VERY annoying, yes. For me, the game will freeze and if I kill it with Task Manager, my computer bluescreens and restarts. Such a shame
