  1. Sweet! If I can get through the "it's very complicated" part, I might be able to make those military paramedics I was planning to do. Just one thing about your CHP officers... they look very nice, except that as far as I know, CHP officers don't have hats (unlike state troopers from other states). I've looked all over and never found any picture of a CHP officer with a hat on. Furthermore, even in "ceremonial" pictures (where sometimes police officers wear hats or decorations that are not part of their everyday uniform), CHP officers still appear hat-less. Maybe Mike can confirm if he sees this? It would fit pretty good on a park ranger, though. Maybe an idea for V1.5, to assist the USFS in the forest fire mission? 2. I just thought of a new feature for v1.5, but I'm not sure if it can be done. If it's possible, that's definitely something I'd add to the Federal mod, too. In real life, SWAT units sometimes need to deploy as soon as they get out of a vehicle. Would it be possible to add a command to SWAT/army vehicles so that all the units inside will already carry a rifle when they leave the car? It would only be optional, though ; if you don't use the command, the units get out of the car without weapons, and have to take them from the vehicle (or take any other piece of equipment).
  3. Nice addition! As I've sometimes mentioned before, this is especially realistic and pretty handy when responding to a car fire situation.
  4. If you ever develop such a script, please let me know. I had plans for a US secret service limousine with footboards, and a Coast Guard dinghy boat, that would both require that script. @ everyone who's asking Hoppah for FBI/Secret service : These agencies will be in my Federal mod. If Hoppah wants to add them to the L.A. mod, it's up to him, but these agencies WILL be in my mod so you can stop harassing him about that.
  5. It's unlikely that a police dept would spend money to buy new lightbars to be fitted on old cruisers. My guess is that cruisers that use the MX7000 (or any other kind of lightbar) will keep it until they're retired.
  6. Good idea, indeed. That's also what I was planning to do with the Federal mod. You might also want to change the soldier names to something like "soldier" or "national guard". Marines aren't even part of the regular Army. (The US military has about half a dozen military divisions : Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and National Guard)
  7. I'm making currently making a new helicopter, and I'm wondering how exactly does EM4 handle rotors. They don't appear to be child parts, yet they don't show up in Z-modeler when I export the original helicopter model. I remember reading somewhere that you can't create whole new rotors, but can you (and how do you) choose which one of the original rotors will be used by your helicopter? And how do you repaint them? See, I'm trying to create an helicopter based on the shape of the TEC helicopter, but which uses the rotor from the police helicopter. Any help would be appreciated. I know Hoppah's Blackhawk/Jayhawk is a new model and uses a repainted rotor, so I'm assuming that what I'm trying to do is possible but I just haven't found how.
  8. There was, until this year. There was a F1 Grand Prix held in the United States between 1961 and 1980 in Watkins Glen, NY, in 1984 in Dallas, TX, between 1989 and 1991 in Phoenix, AZ, and then between 2000 and 2007 in Indianapolis, IN. This year was the last time the event would be held, though, as F1 and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway couldn't reach an agreement for coming years.
  9. Sweet! Awesome job, man! Edit : Haha! Mission 3 "special effects" FTW.
  10. I suggest you take this list to a seperate topic named "PLEASE READ FIRST" and make it sticky. I know some boards for other mods have done that to prevent always getting the same requests.
  11. Yeah, sorry about that. I always forget how free sites have troublesome off-site linking policies. @Hoppah : The Suburban is fine. :1046275747_biggthumpup: I just wasn't whether you deliberately used it or if you didn't know the difference between it and the Tahoe.
  12. Great work, man. I'm glad to see you're taking the bomb robot challenge, that's something I thought would be just too hard to make. That truck is also sweet! I knew from an old post that you'd be doing a bomb squad unit, and knowing the real-life unit, I was hoping you'd make it for your mod. I've got a few suggestions based on the real-life unit though : 1- The LAPD bomb squad uses shorter lightbars that don't span the whole roof width (Basically they're a little more than half the length of a standard lightbar). 2- The actual bomb squad truck doesn't have fender flares (the dark-gray plastic thingies around the wheel wells) so those areas would actually be white like the rest of the truck. I included a (poorly) photoshopped picture to show you the differences : Also, the real-life unit is a Chevrolet Tahoe, while the one you used is its bigger brother, the Chevrolet Suburban. The difference is that the Tahoe has a shorter rear end, and the door lines are right next to the wheel wells. However, yours is nice, and since the LAPD has used older Suburbans in the past, it makes sense to use a newer one as well. About the bomb robot, I know you said you wouldn't make more bomb squad vehicles other than the Tahoe, but bomb robots are quite big, so it's unlikely they could fit in the rear on an SUV. Furthermore, they're quite heavy, so they usually need a ramp to be deployed. You might want to keep the SUV for the bomb technicians, and make a cube van or step van to carry the robot. 13. I did two different things that seem to have fixed it. Apparently, changing the vehicle type did help (although I still don't get why Hoppah's doors would work and not mine). My units would then use the equipment door, but the thing is, I had two and only one of them would work. I then used the "group" box and set the two doors to have the same group number, and then they would both open at once. Right now I'm checking to see if the "group" box takes care of the problem without having to change the vehicle type. EDIT : Changing the vehicle type is definitely needed in order to get the doors to work. As far as I've experimented, police SW and MTW doors won't work.
  14. I don't think it has anything to do with the vehicle type, my truck is a SW, same as Hoppah's SWAT truck, and his works just fine.
  15. Does anyone know how to have doors properly open on vehicles? I've got one door set up for passengers that exit the vehicle and another one set up for gathering equipment, but when persons are getting equipment from the vehicle, even if they approach the area where the equipment doors are, only the passenger door opens. I checked the "equipment" button on the door and it's on, so I can't see what the problem is. I know the LA mod and the DDR mod have properly working equipment doors, so surely there must be something I haven't done right...
  16. Looks sweet! However I'd suggest you only use it as a civilian car. It'd look wicked sweet as a squad car, but Caprices have been decommissionned by police agencies since around 2001-2002, as they're too old now to still be in service due to safety and reliability issues (even as a civilian car, a Caprice is a rare sight these days, considering GM's "legendary" reliability.)
  17. I don't want to sound pessimist or anything, but that wouldn't be the first game that has its release date constantly pushed back before ending up being cancelled.
  18. Maybe that was asked before (Couldn't find it in the topic though), but would it be possible to call units from outside the map? I.E. have battalion chiefs call for units that aren't patrolling or in a station, like the Hazmat truck or MCU, so that they would spawn from the side of the map (as long as you own one) just like when you manually dispatch them? If that was possible, it would be great to call for outside help from special units (Hazmat, MCU, fire plane), since some situations can become tricky in a matter of seconds. In the same line of thought, I was also thinking a police equivalent of the battalion chief could eventually be useful (something like a patrol supervisor or captain, maybe?). He could have the ability to call for a SWAT team, a hostage rescue team (scout + negociator) or any other police vehicle that might come in handy. Also, if calling units from outside the map can be done, police officers should be able to call for a towtruck on the scene of an accident.
  19. I've been trying to use Zmod 2, but whenever I try to import a v3o file, I either get an error message followed by a crash, or an instant crash. The error message is something along the lines of "invalid command in" with a file name, preceeded by meaningless numbers and letters. (I'd like to put the actual message I got, but now it seems that importing a file immediately crashes the damn thing). I tried changing the graphic settings to every possible configuration, but the same thing always happens. So does anyone know how to fix this? Or, better yet... does anyone know if there's a v3o filter somewhere out there for Zmod 1.07, which I've been using for years without problems? Thanks!
  20. Geez, man, stop asking. If there are any news, you can be sure that Hoppah will post about them.
  21. I personally agree with that idea, but I also agree with Hoppah's idea of keeping units with their original purposes in his mod. However, that's something you can easily do yourself with the built-in game editor and a text program such as Notepad.
