  1. @ Centurion I read your logfile and dx diag, what I suggest you try is to first delete the logfile that is being generated, then try to load the default game freeplay (no mods) and see if it runs or crashes, if it crashes upload that logfile here.  Your current logfile references loading a modification, which to be honest I cannot say if the mod has problems or not, so it's better for a diagnostics to use the default game since it is unaltered.

    Same problem here on WIN7

When I run any mod game just crash.

    Help pls

To Nicknack, please re-upload your dx diag/logfile since we moved the server unfortunately it lost files posted as attachments so I can't see what your problem is atm.

@Centurion You only state you have windows 7 without providing a dx diag and logfile we cannot help you with so little information.

  3. It would be more helpful if we had the DX diag to your system and you were more specific as to the problem.

When you say flashing do you mean the screen is flickering?  Is the image tearing when you try to move around (IE parts moving and parts lingering in the image)? The more specific you are, the more helpful we can be in assisting you.  The more generalized you are the more we have to guess and the less likely someone will be able to help you.

From the extremely limited information you've provided it's either the refresh rate of the monitor is different than what the game is using (I believe the game uses 60hz by default) or v-sync needs to be turned on for your video card because the card is processing the game far too fast causing the tearing/jittering you're encountering.

  4. Check through your video card settings and look for an option that says something to the effect of "scale full screen" or "stretch to fit".  The reason you see the black border is because instead of stretching the lower res image to the full size of the monitor, it's maintaining the aspect ratio of the image and just fitting it to the center of your screen instead of extending it to fill the screen.  Fairly easy fix, but difficult to tell you where exactly to find the setting as each video card software will hide the function in a different place.

  5. I just had you delete the log-file so that if it crashed with the vanilla (non-modded) game the logfile would be fresh and would generate a new report of what went wrong.  Your version of the game is the proper version so that is not an issue.

The default game takes less resources to run than most modifications do, most mods add so much new content that it makes the game's flaws much more severe. This game is not exactly optimized that well at all, with larger more complex mods it's quite common for users to experience performance issues and crashes, particularly users with lower-spec machines; when it comes to laptops it's even more common for users to experience problems.

In the case of your experience, here is what I suggest you do since your game is capable of operating normally as per your test.

1). Turn the log-file into a read-only document, this will make it to where the game cannot modify/alter the log file, and will prevent it from overwriting the logfile/info within the logfile.  There is really not a requirement for the logfile to be logging unless you encounter issues repeatedly, then I'll delete it and let it generate a new one to see what's going wrong.  Otherwise I leave mine read-only.

2). Try to play the vanilla (un-modded) game with your friends, see if you guys can get a decently stable experience with MP with the original game.  Realize though, that eventually (depending on system specs) this game pretty much eventually crashes on everyone's machines if left to run long enough.  The game has a memory bleed in it's original code, so unfortunately that in of it's self makes it eventually crash regardless; better machines last longer before the game dies, but they all do eventually.

3). Realize less is more, don't try to play the biggest and most complex mods online, particularly if you or your friends have older machines, as the bigger a modification is and the more crap that is in it, the more likely it is that the mod will tax the user's systems and cause the crashing sooner.  Smaller/lighter mods that require less performance tend to make for a better multiplayer experience with this game.

4). When you decide to try to play move complicated mods, do so in steps, picking the lightest mods first (since they require less to run), something like LA mod is a good choice since it's older and has a pretty streamlined system.  From there you can try to go into the more complicated ones to see what the limits are of you and your friend's machines.

5). Make sure the strongest connection and strongest machine is the host:  If the host has the worst computer of the lot, the MP experience won't last very long since his computer will run out of resources long before the other systems involved.  If the host system crashes, everyone involved in the MP crashes, bear this in mind.

I have a feeling that it's performance instabilities that are getting you guys, the MP experience for this game is rather un-optimized and as a result quite buggy, adding mods to the mix just makes the starting situation worse off (albeit more fun).  If you guys are running laptops for example you'll encounter more performance problems and as a result more crashes so you really have to slowly step into the mods to figure out what your systems can handle.  Sometimes lowering the performance settings can help extend gameplay, but that's not a 100% thing.  Understand some mods arent optimized at all and have a ton of needless files, redundant files, and fat that was never trimmed for whichever reason the author(s) decided, in those mods in particular performance related issues are quite common as are the crashes due to the lack of optimization in both the game, and the mod it's self.

When in doubt and having problems, don't necessarily assume it's the game that's broken, because quite often it's something about the mod which is either overwhelming your system, (like too many high-poly models, too many high-res textures, or complicated scripts that run all the time consuming resources).  If you encounter problems with a mod, try the game without the mod and see if it works reasonable stable, if it does it's probably time to contact the mod author(s) regarding the issues you're encountering.  I could act as though we are all-knowing, but when it comes to mods, if we did not make them, it's hard to say for sure what's causing issues when it comes to stability and performance, that's a question best conveyed to the author of the thing.

Best of luck, hope this information helps you.

  6. What version is your game?  IE: 911:First Responders, Emergency 4, or Emergency 4: Deluxe?  Do me a favor and delete your log file from your game, try to load a SP game without mods and if it crashes upload that logfile so I may see it.

Also take note in the bottom I believe it's left hand corner of the splash screen for the game to view what version of the game it is (the main menu).

  7. I am guessing you're not encountering issues in single player since you make no statement regarding issues there.

As to your issues in MP.  You guys have to use a program like hamachi to create a virtual private network which will let you connect/play this game together.  The "base" game software for MP has not worked for quite some time, leaving hamachi the option to work around that to make it possible to play MP with other players.

Download hamachi from the net and read the instructions on how to set it up and ensure your friends have the hamachi software as well, you should be able to play then.  Just ensure you guys have the same version of the game (should be 1.3 for all users) and everyone is running the same identical mod.  Having 911:FR or EM4 or EM4 Deluxe doesnt matter, so long as they are all patched to the same ver and run the same mod.

    Hope this helps, goodluck

  8. I don't see someone "giving" their mod to a clan to use for their clan's purposes. If you want a "dedicated" mod for a clan you'll have to try to make one yourself using reskins to start, and go from there.  I doubt someone will want to just give exclusivity to a clan unless they are already a part of that clan to begin with.  Most people want as many people as possible to enjoy their mods, not to have them limited to one org. or another.

Fixed links from the original post, please? none of the 2 links are working. I really want to get the pdf guide at least at the moment.

Unfortunately, there isnt anything I can do about that at the moment.  The problem is during the update transition to a new version, many things were changed/reconfigured.  One such thing is file attachments in the way they are handled, I will contact Hoppah and see if he still has the original files to replace within the attachment but until that time, there is nothing I can do unfort. Had they have been in the DL center instead of attached to the post it would have been no problem, but they were just attached to the post which is why they're missing.

Though likely a configuration issue, attachments which are files appear to be inoperative at this time.  Hopefully we can resolve this issue and find a workaround to re-enable that feature, as of the moment I have been unable to find out why they're being blocked.

  10. We have moved to a different server once again, as far as we can tell most regular downloads should be operational at this time; the very large ones (around 1GB+) are still experiencing problems.  We are aware of this issue and unfortunately cannot find a resolution at this time.  Most users should not experience problems with regular sized downloads, nor should there be issues with any other operations of the website.  Should users encounter issues please report them in the site support section so we can look into them and attempt to resolve them.

Once again thank you all for your patience while we relocated and updated the site, hopefully in the long-haul the issues encountered recently will be worthwhile and the site will operate smoother and more effective from here on in.

    Regards,

    EMP staff-

  11. Due to unforeseen issues encountered that we currently are trying to address the server had to be reset, because of this issues may persist which we will try to address if/when we can.  Please be patient while we work through this process.

We have also temporarily disabled the downloads section at this time, due to multiple reports of issues encountered with attempting to download from our database.  We will have to look into this issue further since so many users have encountered this problem.  We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate users understanding while we attempt to address these issues.  It's a new server, and a new version of the software so we have to try to sort through things.

    Thank you for your understanding,

    EMP Staff

  12. We have resolved (we believe) most download issues, larger files will still encounter some problems, we are still attempting to resolve this issue for the largest files. Most normal downloads appear to be functioning though.  Only the largest files and those with low-speed connections/poor connectivity should be likely to encounter problems.  Sorry for the inconvenience but we are working on this issue as best we can to resolve it.

  13. Due to the server we've relocated to being insufficient for our needs, we will transfer to a different VPN to get sufficient resources to run our site from.  This means we will have to take the site back down in order to back up the databases in order to transfer them to the new location and reset everything for the new server.  We apologize for this inconvenience, but hope this will be our last move and the new server will suit our needs properly without all the problems we've encountered since the current transition.

Thank you for your understanding and patience, we expect to take the site down tomorrow in order to start the back-up process in order to move to our new server.

    EmP Staff.

  14. I have seen the error elsewhere, you did not have to capture the whole thing (though it's helpful) you could have just stated what you tried to do and the corresponding error code: (EX2).  It's a glitch in the code we will have to try to get to as soon as we can. Thank you for reporting it.

  15. Top Left corner click on your name; In the drop-down list that comes up find Account Settings: One of the tabs within your account settings is your signature.  Click that tab and alter as desired then save.

  16. I don't doubt that you encountered an issue, I just believe it was a "local" issue unfortunately and not something which we can control or resolve for you.  I myself use chrome as opposed to other browsing options, so it is entirely possible there may be compatibility issues with certain browsers thanks to plugins and whatnot.

  17. The issue you're describing is a "local" issue to you, we have staff scattered all around the world, which results in varying differences in connectivity to the site and thus far none have encountered any issues such as you're describing.  As Stan suggested, try dumping your cache, otherwise it could just be a connectivity issue for your ISP vs the host server.

Frustrating as it can be, remember we provide this service for free without compensation so being rude to us certainly would not help your cause.  Yes, there are still some bugs we have to resolve, such as the one I already resolved that you pointed out with the posting issue which was related to the update.  Some things though are not within our control, such as connectivity between an ISP and the host server, we can only address our end should a problem exist on our side.  None of the staff have encountered this particular issue so unfortunately it is probably something local for you.  Hopefully it will resolve and work it's self out, sometimes that's what happens.

  18. As I said I have a feeling that it's related to people's browser's cache settings using the original (default) scheme because it's what is originally cached for it.  Mine saves as it's supposed to, but for example today (after my cache cleared) it reverted back to the default.  It does save the setting, but appears to be cache related as to why it seems to want to revert to the default setting.

Why i can't cast replay in my Miami mod topic? (there are no field for doing so and only start new topic button) .

+ Maybe lets get back square avatars?

The permissions glitched when the update occured; it should be resolved now and appropriately permit replies now instead of new topics.

I don't think we can get back square avatars, images are still stored in square format, but appear as circles.. Not sure if we could change this or not.

Good work guys! The new forums look realy sleek!

    Only one thing I noticed..

I've changed the colors to Blue and black. But when i visited the new forums later this day the colors had changed back to Blue and red?

Is there some sort of remember my prefences option?

I have a feeling it's more of a cache issue than anything else.. When I first logged into the new board it kept reverting back to the "original" default settings, then eventually it ceased doing that and preserves my settings.  Today it flipped back to default but has not since I reset it.  Strange but I believe it's a result of the cache settings of your browser using what is stored in it's cache.
