  1. The plain clothes is kind of what the windbreaker (FBI Jacket) is for..... The Police Line Do Not Cross Tape is not currently possible unfortunately, since it is dynamic I don't think there is a way to make something off the ground that has collision data since there isnt anything to attatch it to. The only thing comprable is a fire hose and cars and people just run it over.

  3. It should automatically install it into the mods subfolder: C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Emergency 3\Mods\ that's where it should be put if every instruction was followed properly.

Unfortunately, I do not have a digital copy installed anymore so I can't deliberately break my copy to figure out what else may be causing it, if you have Vista and you are permitting it to be ran as an administrator, and you have followed the Registry Fix in the other topic I am fresh out of ideas on what else could be the cause... Maybe someone else knows what else could be preventing your Mod Installer from functioning.
  5. I've already looked at it and quite honestly, it is at least as long as a bluebird bus, if not longer. Yes it could be shortened up but the whole deal in the LA Mod is to be as authentic as possible, so ideally we're looking for some type of prisoner transport that is fairly close to the size of an ambulance or a club wagon for example..
  6. I figured I'd give the issue it's own topic, the digital download versions unfortunately seemed to have a problem with the mod installer so goto this link. Digital Download Mod Installer Problem: I hope you are fairly good at following instructions since you have to edit the registry for the solution to work.
  7. Quite some time ago I had this issue with the Mod Installer not working correctly for EM3 because I bought it online, so here is the instructions 16 Tons gave to fix the game (US). Registry can be opened by going to START: RUN Type in regedit and press ok, this will open up your computer's registry. Even though the instructions below are fairly straightforward read the NOTE: portion since you can effectively break the computer if you go about messing with things you should'nt be. The Emergency 3 Mod Installer may require a registry entry tweak in order to function correctly. NOTE: Modifying or deleting the wrong registry key may cause serious damage to your Windows installation. If you are uncomfortable, have someone who is more computer savvy do it for you. We will be creating the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 3 US. Within it we will have the Value name 'Installdir' with the value data '[installation directory]'. Please follow these instructions exactly: 1) Start regedit by selecting Start - Run, typing in 'regedit' and then hitting 'OK'. 2) Select 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' and press the '+' button to its left to expand the list. 3) Next, select 'SOFTWARE' and press the '+' button to its left to expand the list. 5) Right-click on 'SOFTWARE' and select New > Key. Enter the new key name: sixteen tons entertainment 6) Right-click on 'sixteen tons entertainment' and select New > Key. Enter the new key name: Emergency 3 US 7) Right-click on 'Emergency 3 US' and select New > String value. Enter the new key name: Installdir 8) Right-click on 'Installdir' and select Modify. In the 'Value Data' field, enter the full path of your installation directory. By default, this value is C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Emergency 3 Now, exit the registry editor by selecting the File menu and then clicking on Exit. The Emergency 3 Mod Installer should now function correctly.
  8. I moved this topic since it is not so much about the LA MOD but more about a problem in your game. Is your game a digital download copy? (meaning no-cd)

I'd hope the majority of it is self-explanitory, I just took the first random default texture of a person I found and marked down which places are which, so look at the RED LETTERS and match them to what they are here. FACE-Should hopefully be self-explanitory. F-Foot H-Pants? S-Shoulders A-Arms C-Chest ?-Back of Chest Later on if I feel like it I will look at a female skin and see if I can make sense of how it is mapped. ---SEE ATTATCHMENT---
  10. If you are using vista goto the emergency 3 Mod installer or shortcut, really does not matter... Under compatibility, there is a check box that says run as an administrator, click that and press ok and try again. The mod installer now has administrator priveledges and may create files in the Program Files directory. Vista has a security feature called USER ACCOUNT CONTROL (UAC) this little security feature makes it to where even as the so-called "administrator" of the computer, you still have to permit even yourself to tamper with files in certain locations. If you are just playing the game and not modding it I do not believe I have to go into how to disable UAC for a single folder, which is what I would suggest doing if you were a modder so that you would be able to easilly alter files in the EMERGENCY folder.

  12. If you are running Windows Vista, the Program Files folder and all subfolders are write protected, it is possible that when you go to extract if you are not running the mod installer as an administrator it is not allowed to create the folder or files in that place.

  14. The FBI has two unique perks to them, thus why they even exist in this mod, well did. 1). Purchase more personnel from the big MCV. 2). FBI Sniper-1 shot, 1 kill.
  15. The Prisoner bus while realistic is quite honestly, too big considering how many other chubby vehicles are already in the mod as it is.. Unfortunately, I don't know if LA uses smaller vans or mini-buses, perhaps they would be worth doing but the big bus is just too big for my tastes...
  16. Depending on your tactics it can take between 30 mins and up to an hour if you just let it burn (easier technique).
  17. It can be rather frustrating getting requests for things that have been requested or are not relevent to the mod, that is all he is saying. The BTR's are soviet gear, so obviously it is not likely to be used in america let alone in a law enforcement role... The military in the US is really big into their new toy apc they put out the Stryker but it is not something that would serve much purpose to the game. Traffic is already a pain in the game, especially if you use the patrol option you will see your many vehicles jam up traffic at intersections constantly as it is, more traffic would make that issue worse. The other things you requested I am not sure what exactly you mean so I cannot say why they are not exactly ideal. Hoppah made a point that most people should really take under advisement, there are too many requests for things which have nothing to do with the place that his mod is focused on (Los Angeles). In America, things on one side of the country can be as different as night and day so you can't take something you've seen in NYC and plop it into LA and expect it to work. Take care.

The cool thing about maps are that you can always remove them at first, just name the file something the game does not really use like TEST and when the game creates the base texture, nothing will be overwritten or anything like that so you can just delete the test map it created and try again with your original TGA file untill you are satisfied with your scale. You do not have to have a completed map in order to test certain aspects of the map for scaling or appearance in the editor, so what you can do (which is how I did it) would be to create 4-5 road segments that are a bit long and just make each one different than the ones before it in width untill you are happy with one of them, this allows you to figure out which you are happy with if like me you would rather make your own terrain textures rather than recycle the existing ones in the game originally.
  19. You do best to use the National Guard Truck to gather up the civilians, but in all honesty you can wait to do that untill later on if you wished... The most important thing to do is to setup a fireline around the town it's self and the military base (look closely at the military base and you will notice plenty of room to block off around it from fire). You will most likely fail in attempting to hold the fire locally and prevent it from spreading unfortunately, so really you do better to let it burn untill it stops spreading and then go around and put it out once you are certain the objectives are safe.   20. @EM4_Police-Indeed Commander I will not lie to you at all, it is not easy to figure out an exact scale since the EM4 game roads were designed for European Vehicles they are slightly smaller than america (which is what maps I work on are from) so I had to scale up the roads and try putting the original default vehicles on the road sections to see if they were large enough to accomodate them easilly, if they were barely fitting I adjusted them further to make them larger. In the downloads section there should be the original freeplay map for download which will work quite well if you are trying to replicate the original default scaling (but like I said that is for european vehicles, not american, japanese, greece, etc.). My suggestion to you is to figure out if your vehicles will be larger/smaller than the default vehicle and adjust accordingly using the default vehicles or any mod for scaling reference to figure out a fair scale for your roads. Roads are by far the most important thing to assure are properly scaled to the vehicles otherwise they will run off the roads around turns and things like that. Most of the modders out there including myself make the vehicles lower scale than the people so that you can easilly grab the people and use them, since after all, this is a game. The sidewalks are debatable, depending on where you are making the map to simulate more or less dictates the size of the sidewalk, Some places have larger sidewalks than others, I have been to places where sidewalks=parking spaces while others they are more or less footpaths of the dangerous nature... So use what you know about the place to decide on your own judgement. In the end there are no firm rules to making a decent map, the whole key is to try to do your best to retain a decent scale for your mod rather than reality since let's face it this game does'nt have a great perspective for scale to it.... Best of luck to you, perhaps you'll find your way at this task since there are not too many people willing to devote the time needed to make a complicated new map.

Real life to game scale is dependent on the vehicles you use, obviously if you are using smaller vehicles your roads should be smaller to make the scale proper, same deal with people they should be to proper scale. If you are making a totally new freeplay map you should focus on the roads/sidewalks scaling to ensure the vehicles fit the road and do not appear to large or too small to it, same with the sidewalks... Buildings if you use default buildings are pre-scaled so you can make do with them, if you build your own that's alittle bit more difficult. I have a feeling you are focusing on the ground first, which means worry about the scale matching YOUR mod's people and cars. Map Size to fill the whole terrain is: 8192x8192 ensure you save it as instructed previously, many programs can edit that format so you do not necessarilly need adobe photoshop. It is a great deal of work to make the ground maps, given the immense scale of the ground texture...

Missions just take a great deal of work, especially something as involving as the Shootout Incident, so it would take a great deal of time to get that type of thing done, during which time the other alterations to the modification would have to be much lower than they currently are in the version updates... Love it or not, scripting is a nightmare of time and trial and error.

When it comes to the LAPD I am uncertain if they are using the Charger in mass or if it is more of a trial program where they are just testing the possibility (which supposedly LA loves to test toys). I kind of believe the point is to try to keep things unique, so I do not know whether or not the charger would make it into the game as an LAPD as well as CHP since I believe the objective is to add unique new items that bring something different in feel and function.
  24. The older fire engine was declined for the reason it was not going to add to the game... The question has been asked before and hoppah decided it served no purpose other than being eye candy so he did not want to do it.. Which is the same reason the newest engines have not been bothered with, they are pretty much identical to the current ones in the game with a few minor changes.
  25. There currently is no Teargas in the game, much to my complaint.... The only thing in the game is Flashbangs but I do not know if it is possible to shoot them from a launcher or not.
