  1. I just translated an article for the new Winterberg FAQ that said the fan does prevent flashovers But remember to use a fire fighter with SCBA gear, or he won't last long, as he stays with the fan
  2. In the Winterberg mod, you have all fire units under button 1, ambulances under 2, police under 3, emergency doctors under 4, and various other things in the other. The Florian Hamburg mod has the same system, just slightly different in regards to which units are called.
  3. Yeah, I got a PM reply from them saying the same
  4. I think you install it by having the vehicle commander selected, then hovering the cursor over the door, it should change to a picture of a fan. I think it helps with the danger of flashover, plus unprotected (IE not wearing SCBA gear) people inside loose less health. I'm not 100% sure though, I'll ask on the Winterberg forum.
  5. If you guys need any help translating this mod to english, let me know I'd like to contribute, but don't know any modelling or scripting. I helped the Winterberg team with a revised/fixed translation a while back.
  6. If you've updated your copy of Winterberg lately, the fog of war is now disabled by default. You can reactivate it of course. For the massenschlägerei, or riot brawl as it's called in the english translation, first unit to call is the Demo police from the police menu. Second to call is the SEG, the Red Cross people with the mass casualty tent found under menu 4. Because you WILL have alot of injured people
  7. I've never had them fail to connect to a hydrant before, I've only had some engine crews fail to install attack lines. I use the hold left shift when having the vehicle commander selected way to place a 3-way connection and 3 attack hoses. That error was limited to a few vehicles coming from outside the map though, and I think the error was that there wasn't enough crew in the vehicle to use that many hoses On the explosion part, isn't that flash over? I've had it happen to me once, damn annoying. I think I've read somewhere that ventilating the house first (with the fan you install in the doorway), you don't risk flash over. Do you have any experience with that?
  8. Looks excellent so far Looking forward to playing it Will be nice to play around with a berufsfeuerwehr, rather then all the freiwillige feuerwehr I've seen in most of the german mods. The screenshots look amazing, keep it up!
  9. You can also use that same function to connect one truck to another, if there are few hydrants or the hydrant is too far away. If you want the ladder truck to spray water as well, it needs to be connected to another fire engine, since it doesn't have a pump or water supply of its own. Ones you order the ladder truck commander to connect to another vehicle, it automaticly deploys, and a guy goes up in the basket.
  10. Depends on the type. If it's a patient in the ICU that has started bleeding, you have to call for an emergency op team. You find that under the nr 4 button I think. Select that, and click on the patient. If it's a patient that needs specialized care, you need to call a helicopter to transport the patient to a different hospital. If it's night time or bad weather you can't call the regular ones (RTH), you need the ITH, which means you need the help of the firedepartment. is a video I made that explains how that's done.Hope that was helpful! Regards, Mr Kaizer
  11. Yeah, I found out that thanks I was looking at big mods, figuring this was one of those, and ignoring the small mods folder I guess those go by size, not by how much it changes gameplay, which was what I figured.
  12. Looking for a multiplayer game. I prefer EMS or FD, don't like police too much, but I can do anything. I have TeamSpeak3. Should be available most of this week. Not sure if I can host, I don't have access to the router/modem so I can't open ports. PM me if interested.
  13. The next video in my Winterberg Mod English tutorial series is up! Part 2: How to call a ITH (intensive care helicopter) the easy way, using the DLK (ladder truck.) Comments and/or video requests here over PM, in the comments field on YouTube, or in my thread on the official Winterberg Mod forum. My thread on the Winterberg Forum
  14. Is there any way to get this mod and the patch for it? I can't seem to get the download links to work :/ One of them just gave me a PDF with info on different mods :/
  15. That's strange. Was the landing site properly secured? To call a ITH (intensive care helicopter) the landing site must be illuminated by either 3 floodlights, or the lights on the "bucket" on the ladder truck (DLK), and there must be a guy with a fire hose close to the site (in case of crash). You can also use the RTHs for those missions I think, the normal helicopters. The ITH is mostly for night and bad weather operations. Try pressing the "Enable Advanced Mode" button once, then click Next, and on the next page check off the "Ignore downloaded checksums" option, then go on as normal. Let me know what that does.
  16. It's supposed to disappear, yes, but it doesn't always do that If it doesn't, check if the chief/police/medic has disembarked from the vehicle. If he has, most unit leaders (like the Group Leader from the fire department, the guy in the red vest) has a "Scout Situation" command. Not sure if the police has that. The button has a silver or white question mark on it, and some picture behind that. It's crossed out by default, but you can use it if you down either right Ctrl or right Shift, can't remember which. Once you've pushed that button, just click somewhere inside the fog (not too far from the guy you're using, because he has to walk to where you click before the fog goes away) and Bob's your uncle.
  17. Since there weren't many Winterberg Mod tutorial videos with English text out there, I decided to make some. Part 1 is done, featuring fire fighting basics. I'll make more when time allows me. Part 1 is more a test then anything else, but for those who have just discovered the Winterberg Mod, it might be useful. My thread on the Winterberg forum Comments and video requests here, over PM, in my thread on the Winterberg forum, or as a comment in the video. Herr Kaizer.
  18. Serverr is down, but I'll be here most of the evening/night. Let me know if you want to play
  19. I'll be starting up a Winterberg MP game in about 15-20 minutes, and I'll keep the server up for a while, while I work on things on another computer. Anyone is free to join. It'll be my first EM4/WEM MP game, so go easy on me
  20. First thing to check is that Windows isn't blocking it. Try running it as administrator (if you're using Win7). Next check the windows firewall and allowed programs settings. If the Updater isn't on the allowed list, add it, obviously. Next check your anti-virus software. If it has a firewall, add the Updater to the allowed programs. I just updated Winterberg today, so I know there are mirrors/servers available.
  21. You can download selected older versions here. You might have to register on the site first though.
  22. How very odd. Mine wouldn't even start. The screen was black for a while, then it would CTD. After I gave it admin privs and set it in compat mode, it worked like a charm.
  23. You also have to run the game with administrator privs in Win7 (right click and choose Run as Administrator, or something along those lines). In addition to that, it has to be run in Windows XP SP2 compatability mode. I used XP SP3 mode the first time I tried to run it in Win7, and it wouldn't even start up. XP SP2 mode it runs without issue. And yes, you should also update your video card driver like Xplorer says. When you install Win7, in many cases it uses the generic Microsoft drivers for the card, or an old version of the manufacturers driver. Find the mnaufacturer of your video card and check their website for newer versions of the driver. Hope you get it working!
