  1. No ammount of chocolate milk would ever persuade me to change the stations.

    At that, the most I would do is maybe give it a new station that's the same exact size or something like that, but too afraid we may cause more problems then solve by changing it. For the map, I don't think either of us know how to texture it really, so we'd need someone else for that, but the current map is good atm :P

  2. If you redone the coast guard officer you could make that it could carry a M4 and the blue uniform with the life jacket, and do that it could arrest. The coast guard that there are now seems more dressed to bad weather.

    No more suggestions like this please, it would be the most pointless unit in the game. We have our researchers, Billy and I. :)

  3. I can't really can't skin or model, but I can find photos and do research work and brainstorm ideas about how the firestations should be layed out.

    Have you thought about adding the new Dodge RAs instead of the 08' Fords?

    I'm not a big fan of the new Dodge RA's personally, I'm going to stick with the Fords, but we may add the Dodges down the road.

  4. It's actually been four and a half years since the LA mod came out. Many things have changed since then, and a fair amount of the fire vehicles are out of date.

    Here's what I've been thinking that would bring the mod up-to date. I'll list what is incorrect and why, and what I think needs to be done with it

    1. The BLS RAs in the mod (white over red) have not seen front-line service for at least a year now. They are all reserves now and even then most of them have been disposed of. I would take the white over red RA completely out of the LA mod altoghther.

    2. In place of the white-over-red, BLS RA I would put a 2008 model RA like the one below. It would be given an 800 number and function as the BLS RA. The current ALS RA in the mod would remain as the ALS RA. You could also forgo adding a new model and instead copy the current model of the ALS RA, give it a skin without the high-viz on the back, and use it as the BLS RA.

    3. The battalion chief SUV should be replaced with the current model shown below.

    4. The LAX RA needs to be completely redone with a new model. The unit portrayed in the LA mod actually was outdated from the day the mod first was released. Below is a photo of the current RA 51, and they've had this rig for 4 or 5 years now.

    5. The tiller needs to be redone. Currently there are only one or two Simon/Duplex tillers left. All the rest are American LaFrance/LTI. Below is a photo of one of the newest ALF/LTI tillers. It was put into service a few months ago. The numbers on the grille and on the bumper are part of a test. Eventually only one or the other will be on the rigs.

    6. A Seagrave engine needs to be added as an additional engine. One of the new 2007 ones would be the best. The new engine would replace the ALS engine at FS2. The ALS engine at FS1 would then become a BLS engine, while the current BLS engine would become the light force pump.

    7. Replacing the current USAR is arbitrary because 3 of the 6 USARs in LA city are in one of the older models as depicted in the mod. I would generally lean away from replacing the USAR.

    Some things like the new RA's, getting rid of the white and red BLS, the Seagrave engine, and the ALF tiller were planned already as posted above. Also personnel skins are being changed, and get the gear a bit more accurate. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'm going to attempt to redo the B.A mask to make it a bit more realistic.

  5. It's just kind of like what the NY team's doing and keeping it up with the current NY, we're doing it for LA. Thanks for those pics ENG, we will be updating all the units. Not too much major stuff, because like NFK said, most of the units are still in service. :P

    There is no use for a Mountain Rescue, as seeing there is no mountains on the current map. :P

    The ambulance will be updated to the current one for the ALS rigs, BLS will become the older style ambulances.

    For that EMS truck, the squads are still in service, I may model it as we go further, but right now it's not a big deal, because in r.l there's ALS engines and squads to assist on medicals.

  6. My question is a long shot but hear me out.

    When Operation Flashpoint was released, immediately people were modding the original game including new units, missions and so on (like 911 FR/E4). After a few years it was becoming outdated and the graphics were starting to look out of touch, not many people were happy since a new game wasn't likely to come out.

    Thnen a modder changed the game to make it more updated and relistic. I can't explain all the changes, it's one of those things you have to see but some examples are better explosions, improved graphics and more realistic looking faces.

    My point is, if your that fused about Emergency 2012 then why not at least try to do the same with 911 FR/E4? If 911 FR/E4 can be updated to get to the same level of 2012 then that would in itself be an awesome feat! I know that it may not be possible but if you think there is a chance then take it. I have just started to learn how to script and mod so I'm not the person to ask but maybe someone has a better understanding of this than I do and could take the opportunity.

    (I wish to state out that I am not trying to advertise other games, just give references to back up my question and hope it gets seen this way).

    i know what your trying to get at, but it would mean going in and making an entirely new game, only a few good things would come out of all the effort, and they wouldn't be significant. The amount of time spent outweighs the positives

  7. Most if not all people on here have played the LA Mod, so our objective is to update it to get it to the current LA units. This will include everything from new skins to new vehicles, equipment updates, lights, and sirens.

  8. Street view? EM4 is a RTS game, I doubt it can be changed to a FPS-like game. (can't be done woth modifying Em4.cfg)

    winterburg's the only mod i can think of with a street like view, except it's ride along with that unit, and that causes major lag, even on a high end p.c.

  9. Sup Dyson, I went ahead and tried your mod, and the biggest things that were wrong were :

    Traffic timing, it caused horrible traffic flow across the map. (it's new york, but it would only be going certain directions.)

    The engine is horribly unproportionate, and citizens walking around with guns. Also, the police van looks like a chop shop got ahold of it. other then that, the concept of it's good. :D

  10. You have to be really talented if you get your vehicle blown up in this mod, but if so... sure it gets replaced but after that time you drive the whole game long with a spare for the blown unit!

    Just started the work on the manual, this is a sample page we did for some design studies

    The real one does not have the "New York Modification" lettering across the whole screen, its there due to copyright safety of this screen in production stage.

    JoyRiderUSA has tragically passed away from surgery complications, according to his brother.

    Man, I'm super bummed out right now. He was a really nice guy. :unsure:

  13. well, he released it before i gave him the new seagrave, so all of the engines have very little relation to fdny; the file takes wayy too long to download; too many bugs, the beta testers are in no way able to script or assist with things they see wrong ; I don't think C.F.D even finished his lights. I don't think any of us were ready to release this to the public. Not only that, but the light bars on engine 2 are messed up. No fdny engine has those...? Your file size is way too big, NO submod should have or has any file that huge as far. Not only that, but you have to copy it over the la mod files, meaning it's a gigantic waste of space. as I can tell, and the download speed's limited. Ask someone to upload a mirror to rapid share. We needed more time to complete our parts before the release. But, it got rushed and this is the result. Too many screenshots that hyped it up, especially these mission ideas, but couldn't even get freeplay smooth. Nice choice on the release date...

    BTW, can someone please p.m me the readme for the N.Y Submod?

  14. ladder=a pain. Its taking forevver... he's missing hose I.E in the bed and everywhere else. lol. It lags the game the more childs you have per model, it's easier if some things have some lights put on. Anyways, the engine that i've been doing from scratch is still the main 1 right now. The ladder is just weird.
