  1. Some of you mod, some of you don't. almost no one understands. EM5 was a huge step for the companies that worked on this game. A literal start from scratch to create something we've never seen before, and they achieved it. If you feel the need to say its disappointing or mad please, step up and create your own game from scratch with 0 bugs, 0 issues. Its why patching systems exist. When a large product is made, it's very rarely going to be flawless.

    Im not sure on the polycount i will have to get back to you on that and yes some engines will have the new led light set ups. And thank you for the feedback and yea i know about the skin i just did a minor reskin of Chris07 main skin on the engine but i will later and upload new pics :laugh:  :laugh:

    I'm not really planning on making the new LED setups because not a lot of places have them and their pretty ugly, lol.

    Nice work on the engine. The only thing I noticed was the front light bar looks a little to big for the model, unless it was the picture lol!  

    LA county has a taller bar than most, this is to scale. :)

    I also have a squad skin and model that needs UV mapping.

    I also have a brush patrol model that I have not yet skinned.

    i've already mostly uv mapped the squad, just need to finish uv mapping the back box mostly and light it.

    Thank you everyone for your support! This mod took some time to put together and we're glad it turned out as it has. We had a good amount of help and support and this project help us learn for new ventures in the future :)

  4. On topic would it be possible to have a firefighting helicopter as well as the air-tanker? Maybe have it use the same scripts as the air-tanker but have it extinguish less of the fire.

    Many new scripts could be made that would make wildland firefighting more realistic in EM4 and its mods, however since most mods are based around urban areas (with a few exceptions) I doubt that a issue like that is at the forefront of very many of our modders' minds. Other things like pumper to pumper water transfer and all ATVs/UTVs have not been scripted for I suspect the same reason, lots of work for few mods to utilize. As someone who has a fondness for rural firefighting its a shame but that's not where the demand is.

    It would be asking yourself the question of is it worth the time? A friend and I have been playing with the idea for a while now for our own mod and thrown some ideas back and forth. The only thing i came up with is replacing the fire plane with a helicopter model tbh. do-able? probably. Also the helicopter would lose other functionality as well. My thing would be having a helicopter you can pick up water with, pick up crews, drop off a helitack crew and go out and do water drops. Right now that's most likely near impossible.

     

    My hope is EM5's fire logic is much better than it currently is.

Only way I see that happening would be a script that when the two units are selected puts them into position then does a proto swap when they are deployed putting a flag between the two units that would end up being one model when deployed.  Why you would need this Idk, especially considering most mods don't have the space to put two 95ft+ ladders lengthwise along with the ladders deployed in the air and the space for a large flag between em, you'd be talking around 225 feet of length for the thing.

    at that would em4 even truely allow for this? i feel like it would be buggy.

  6. limited water supply to already be incorporated so we don't have to continuously tweak it, smarter traffic, better lighting applications, vehicle movement and pathing to be much smoother as well as parking, water drops from helicopters as well as the ability to transport (more possibilities of making a usfs and other wildland mods), better fire behavior and interior attack, ladder usage and multi story building access, larger maps, allowance for more scripting application to freeplay, no script limits, possibly easier scripting and the ability to create events much easier, police chases, more realistic hose lays, better hose extension and interaction with objects, the ability to cut line to stop a fire spread, hose extensions to create more of a progressive hose lay..

     

    My absolute dream mod to make is a small town with a ton of vegetation and so forth so you can have calls in the town or have calls in a grass prairie. then when a fire lights off you have forest service units cutting line, pulling hose with water drops and so forth.

     

    The list could go on forever but there's just so much stuff that could be improved on over EM4.

    @freakinfuzzball Its cause the LACoFD is updating its engines, squads, and tillers. and they all have updated lighting and stuff.

    the new engines are the same chassis and body style but their playing with different light setups, there is no currently set lightbar in the LED format.

     

    The new squad is a new kme rear end on a dodge chassis. again this may or may not be in progress :)

    I might just reskin the LAFD one that comes out and use it as a separate unit in my game if not.

    if you're trying an lacofd reskin then the engine is even more wrong than before. the new city and the county styles are more different now than they ever have been.

  8. i feel like this is one of those "do my mod for me" types. Skinning and lighting is about 10% of the battle of making even a slightly different mod. Most current mods that are in production or released it seems are reskins of other peoples vehicles and compiled together onto the base game or la mod map with little to no changes otherwise. To make something new and interesting it takes more than just those 2 skills, otherwise it should just be more or less a submod.

     

    Also anyone can call themselves a lighter, but how good you are makes a difference.

  9. The stuff thats in their is final for V1. I don't have the scripting or Modeling skill to add new stuff so probably not. But if anyone wants to join me and make a few new models that would be cool.

    3d modelers are kinda hard to come by. Usually we start our own projects or are already going on something else. (not the most common skill to come by and very wanted).

    It looks like a good start and I can't wait to see it progress :)
