I think the SimCity games are the entry points which got me into RTS/Simulator type games. I've pretty much tried most of them that are out there, though my childhood ones are definitely SC, Car Tycoon, and this:
Then there's the NFS Series of games, the first I tried being NFS2SE, which got me hooked into cars as well. My fascination with vehicles and simulation landed me in the EM-Series when I went searching for emergency vehicle game, and one of the search results was a game demo for Em4. Thats when the love affair started for me.
putt putt and fatty bear? These were the games as a kid. haha

You'll have to learn to model those.
Also you took a lot of stuff from south county. You really need to ask permission before copying and pasting our stuff. I see all of my lights in there and model edits, I haven't seen a message asking permission to use those in my inbox yet. There's no credits given to our team either. Unfortunately if you were to release this we would have to report it.

I bought Zmodeler 3 and it is really good to work with:)
lookin good brotha, can't wait to see the final results of that Pierce (it looks like, correct me if I'm wrong)
-
It's looking really good so far, your skins look immaculate!
-
I wish zmodeler 3 was free. I still use 2 because I bought it. I will say, 3's tools are much better, especially the uv mapper. I achieved in a few hours what usually takes me about 2 days. I highly recommend a month or 2 of zmod3 when you go to make your models and UV map them.

I don't post much, but stick with it, you're getting the basics down which is good. If you need help with things like lighting pm me and I'll do my best to teach you algorithms for lights, unfortunately I'm not much of a skinner though. Haha. But I do have some friends that are that can help teach.
Best of luck brotha

Looks awesome! Can you put some screenshots of units down please?
We won't be posting screenshots for a bit, we have a lot of work to do.
I have one small question about the mod, will the paramedics be ambo or "Rescue Squad" based?, as I know in Northview South County there are both.
Our Northview basis was the squad had paramedics as well as extrication ability. This continues on the story line but the squad at this point is gone. This is a whole new section with a lot of surprises inbound.
I think it would be nice to have a enterable nursing home or something alongside that, over here we get about 3 calls a day there for numerous reasons, aswell as the local mental asylum/hospital which brings along afew calls like a irratic PT biting orderlys with PD requesting EMS (happend IRL in my city).
Lol, that's an ongoing joke between us. That is a thought that's on the table currently.
-
Again, sorry for my lack of knowledge. I should have known it better. I hope you can excuse my unappropiate and rude comment.
You're good brotha, stick with a project and don't give up on it!

This guy actually models a lot of things, you just dont get to see them because they dont like to reveal their work
This mod is flawed for the simple reason that 600 lights on multiple vehicles would cause extreme lag and make the game umplayable.
More importantly, the vehicles depicted by them aren't too accurate compared to the real thing despite the claims of having exact replicas and whatever.
Please don't assume that the guy hasn't contributed anything. He surely has contributed a lot more than you have.
Thanks itch
Yes, I have modeled quite a bit of stuff and I do tons of lighting. An example of some of my modelling is in northview : south county which we released to the community. I modified helljumpers old engine and uv mapped it(it was horrible to uv map), created a station and a bunch of other model edits as well as editor work and tons of lighting. That is quite an old example though. I have a bit of stuff I haven't released to the community at this point.
Oh sorry thats my fault of course, sry. I just tought it sounded pretty harsh. I´m a starter too and i can kinda understand them. PaganiZonda760 seems to start mods motivated and then looses interest or messes up with credits. So the other guys don´t have a fault here - do i understand that right?
Almost, there is now 2 projects that we know of that he started and hasn't completed.

I think Montana Mod had made a truck similar like this one already. But its not released yet.
http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/16909-montana-mod-201-unstable-release/?p=296900
It's a similar body style but it won't be the same model. Different fenders, front bumper, push bar, tool box, winch. There is a lot of model differences that have to be accounted for as usfs buys a more rugged setup, as seeing their fires normally occur in difficult access areas. Their model 34's are also modified over cal fire's new 34s because the forest service can end up anywhere in the country.
-
It's a good looking 34 bro

That's great that you guys have videos of lights that will hardly work in free play. This is how it is though. On that level, that many polys and lights will cause the game to crash. Next up you guys haven't completed projects so far nor shown any sort of modeling or mapping skills such as pathing or anything on that level. Lighting is fairly easy, just time consuming if you want to make something look good, not much of a mod skill. What can be shown for the progress of this mod to say that you guys won't quit it and start a brand new one next week?

LAFD does the fire services in the Los Angeles City. So places like Hollywood, downtown, basically the main part of LA. County Fire is responsible for out in the sticks, so to speak. The less urban parts fall under County jurisdiction. I don't think there's a comparison map, but you can probably find areas of responsibilities on their respective sites.
Little extra clarification on this.
LAFD services parts of Los Angeles that are incorporated by the city of Los Angeles. Perfect and most known location is downtown LA. This is a full city area. Now, to learn how the county comes in, is all the unincorporated parts. Just because it's called LA County doesn't mean the whole county, and just because you're in the city doesn't mean it's all city. This is the simplest way I could put it together because it's a very very very complex system..
LAFD services-Downtown, south central, port of los angeles, thousand oaks, harbor gateway, san pedro, etc.
LACoFD services-Most of West, east, costal and inland areas that have been contracted in to service those cities. cities such as : Palos verdes, lawndale, hawthorne, inglewood, rosewood (unincorporated compton), lynwood, carson, malibu, east los angeles, all parts of unincorporated los angeles city, calabasis, lancaster, etc.... They have towns in the sticks as well.
LACoFD is a much larger department and is spread out a lot more than LA City. LA City has a lot of stations in a small area due to insurance class 1 ISO which is based on a lot of factors including available equipment, water flow, personnel and a lot of other factors that insurance companies look into.
They are not the same department.
LA County doesn't have the whole county either. just cities that contracted into them. Some cities have their own departments such as : redondo beach, manhattan beach, torrance, santa monica, el segundo, culver city, etc.
TL;DR : The los angeles 911 system is a very complex piece of work

Shame that the NFS mod died. Note that there is an existing mod over at EM-Europe that has pretty much the same units as you do.
emergency-planet.com/thread/6/palm-beach-gardens-modification
Nypdofficerxx is still online here, maybe you and him could join forces, because I don't see in any practical way how it would be useful for you to make so much stuff if another modder has similar content. Though if he wishes not to team up with you, you're gonna have to work on it anyway. Just be prepared.
Though I'm suspicious with some of the models used on that mod. Seem too detailed for Em4, possibly taken from GTAIV.
I won't say anything further but its the only thing that did catch my attention.
Lol, it is the same. unless it has an extremely high rez skin on it. Which is suspicious as well, lolll.
-
Actually, fun fact, that's not technically really allowed. Unless you sign it over in a legal document, notarized and cleared by laws of all countries involved (usually multinational teams) they maintain rights to the content they make. If I made something and decided I was gonna take it and you couldn't use it, you'd have to get over it and that's that.
So if that rule becomes "official" it's all about scare tactics, and cannot be enforced at all.
Which is why mod teams reserve the right to allow other modders not to use their content. Tbh this is one of the greatest parts because it encourages people to learn things.
-
I see what you are saying there. But we will join FRG's modding team and I know quite a lot of people from that team. Those people I am pretty sure would be glad to teach us some of the modding skills. And I personally want to help them with some of the mods they are making, and I know that they are interested in anyone who wants to help. I recently joined the clan and was accepted too. And we are drafting a set of rules for the mod team that does not allow that to happen. You need to keep sending updated versions of work or .rars of the skins or edited scripts, and if you decide to leave the modding team and take all your work with you, you can't. You will still be credited for what you did, but you can't leave and take all your work with you for X reason unless you talk with one of the higher up staff on the modding team and they deem your reason reasonable, and they would then allow you to take your work with you. Though I am not sure if this rule will become official yet.
tread carefully, if they claim their stuff, it will always be their stuff by intellectual property and thus they can, and there is a good chance they will, claim it as theft.
-
For us to help you I would go ahead and join the mod team and you help us with your mod and you help us with ours (because that is how we work ). We are going to have a partial merge with FRG's modding team, and we will have a bunch of great modelers on their team to help us. Maybe they can help you. All you need are some pictures of the vehicle.
Join our mod team and we'll help your team rarely works. Utilize your skills and learn how to work on stuff instead of passing it off to other people. This way if it's small, people won't leave the mod team and take their work with them, leaving you empty handed.

i don't get it. it's a bunch of reskins being put under "miami city", but they're nowhere related to real miami, and it's mainly just reskins. Do you have anything to actually make this a mod such as scripts, new models or any other skills besides basic editor work?
-
I would not make a modding team until someone in the modding team has actually released a mod. Also only one person in your mod team can actually do more then just skinning and the rest of you are NOOBS to modding. If I was you I would just not have a modding team until you guys get some experience under your belt especially since you are new to modding and you already have three mod projects going and nothing to show for any of them yet.
Uh.. Sorry chief jamnj. Won't happen again. Darn mod teams. Guess no one can get a team together to make a mod before they make a mod.

@losangelesi
I know because LACoFD started to rollout with all LED lighting and I'm not to sure but i think LACoFD now ended going up with Red LED Rotator Lightbar. Because I know they have another lightbar configuration also.
I got to admit the New LED Engine looks badass with the New Ram Squad. I always see them by my area where there is an LACoFD station (Battalion 12).
They didn't actually end up with a definitive choice. There are still a lot of engines that run the old style rotator, even on the new ones. LED rotators are mixed and far and few between. Engine 2 palos verdes has one of these led rotator setups, 158's which is south gardena runs a full led setup, quint 159 runs an led setup on the quit, 162 runs rotators, light forces mostly have rotators, e171 has leds, engine 170 has rotators. its all very, very mixed. The squads are currently the most standardized piece of equipment and even then its hardly standard. there's ford squads, dodge squads and brand new ford squads. even the old squads from the 70s occasionally get put in the system, as well as their ambulance squads. Its so hard to try and say "this is what they use". It all depends on where you are, lol. same with LA City, but it's easier to determine because there's only a few styles compared to many, many different models and styles.

@losangelesi
Hey is that the 2007 era lighting on the LACoFD Engine ?
This lighting scheme is based off of current and older schemes, as LA County still actually utilizes rotators. This is the exact lighting scheme of engine 161 in Hawthorne, CA. Still currently in service.
They still buy engines with rotators at this point. One of their engines purchased last year, which went to station 95 has front rotators, led headlight flashers with whelen led rotators on the rear. They don't buy 1 model and stick with it. haha.

Chris07 and I made a kme engine if you're interested. Just wondering if we could have use of the la county patrol and squad for a mod
(my model, chris's skin, my lighting)

Very nice vehicles. My only gripe is that I wish you'd make the vehicles easier to install. It'd make some people more apt to use them.
it doesn't get much easier o.o

depends on the models. Single bay station I made myself, model edits also depending on which ones. Did 90% of the lights, also building plans on the map were joint.
Yep, I have no problem if you provide the list, that way chris or I can get you in the right direction
Thank you, not trying to be a major jerk, I really don't want you to get in trouble and not allow your work to be released is all. If you need help I would love to help you get things going in the right direction to making a great addition to the community. There is a lot of permissions required to reskin this mod fortunately or unfortunately. Start building a T.O.S and a list of people you need to ask.
If you get the proper permissions for everything then it's no worries, I have a lot of time invested in this mod as well. I love to see the community grow but reskins hurt somewhat because there's no progress made on it.
