  1. Skin modification is available for most vehicles, including the ladder boards. Currently they're on our discord. We have a lot of skin creators and it would be exciting to see more creations! Feel free to make and upload skins, all templates are in the discord and I can bring them all over here to the page if there is interest.

Gear skin template is available, but not implemented just yet, it will be shortly.

Map creation can be started now in UE4. Create your own map with friends, learn to optimize and work in a real AAA game engine! There are a ton of tutorials on how to begin. The original game map can't be modified for certain reasons, but you can create your own map as large or small as you want. The ITF plugin with the ability to place the emergencies will be coming in a month apx.

We hope there is some interest! Sorry for the delayed update!

  2. Today we put in some work, Chris07 did work with adding SCBA's to the hazmat, riot officer, high viz jacket, and coroner! We also worked on the new utility belt for the officers including Itchboy's taser model, my own models for the utility belt pouches, and apx8000! The coroner has also received a new manual ferno :Monday.thumb.png.246a826185448e705f7bcf2d153ccde8.png

Next up we have oil spills coming : oil.thumb.jpg.1659e0ef5fc58bb8f3738ba7eea01f14.jpg

I have the idea that many factors in modern setups are limiting potential and functionality of EM4.

So you say it yourself, in Windows XP there shouldn't be lag. In that case, as I already was imagining, building a Windows XP setup might be the most trustworthy option.

I found out in the readme file that these video cards are supported. What video card with the same architectural structure would you recommend me to try?

processor and windows XP in 32 bit? What cpu would you recommend?

I do know that NorthernAlex from that YouTube channel plays smoothly on 4k. I did sent him a message via his website hoping to receive an answer what he is using. If i receive an answer, I will post it here. In the meantime I would be happy to hear your opinion and dig a little further.

Yeah, none of this makes a difference in "limiting potential". its the code that makes a difference and the mod and what the person did. Windows XP doesn't unlock a secret door in emergency. I use a 3700x, 3080, 64 gigs of ram, so technically by that spec by your terms I should basically be locked out of EM4 because I'm too "high end". that's not the case. It works fine. I'd recommend probably not going and blowing money on a system from 2005 that literally won't run anything else unless you're doing it as a collector or nostalgia stuff. Also have fun with all the used GPUs from the time period. They need maintenance like new paste. its gonna be 10+ years old lol. It will not run 4k. 4k is for 2070Super+ GPUs.

  5. Yeah so... I'm hijacking our post back to bring you County of Northview (if a mod could please update the name!) This mod is very much still an alpha, but to sum it up, here's where we're at so far. The focus is NVCoFD, NEMSA EMS, and NVPD. We have new scripts limited water supply, single person gurney, traffic debug (we needed it badly), the "updated" parking script, taser. Chris07 did some amazing skin work and I've made a bunch of new models you will be seeing around the map such as new billboards, parking meters that randomly flash expired (yellow blinking on the screen), a new beach, new buildings, a new Phenix 1500 for the firefighters, new Motorla apx8000 (yellow radio for fire, black for ems), some new equipment, the KME engine, a new squad, EMS Ground and Air each have their own gurney style and more! This project went from a small update to a full scale new iteration. I still have some kind of hope that 16T will release a game with a little more modding capabilities in the future. But like stated above, it feels like they are all about money and not wanting feedback from players. But then why are they not allowing modding for em5. They would have made tons of money of off it. Make it as moddable as em4 and a step further. Profit for them and fun for us. So the question is just why...

On a technical level, em5 is apparently much easier to mod. BUT. It requires 3ds max, which is out of the budget for most of us unless we get a student deal on it, and even then its still expensive. And it's full capabilities haven't really been tested from what I've seen. theres some germans working on it, we'll see what happens.

I am one of the heads of Coastal Emergency Services and I have personally taken the link down. We had it made before 2.1 was released. We wanted to play it without the tiller and we got rid of the tanker. As you know that the tiller was really buggy in multiplayer and the tanker was practically useless without the limited water supply script.

It was, that's why I spent over a week on the new truck, then we pulled the water tanker since it was useless without lws and put another engine in it's place.

Thanks fam, multiplayer is fine, we just don't want it being used as  a clan mod is all. Especially since I'm the hate mail taker. We greatly appreciate it!

  8. Thanks @Chris07. My final cut is different and I've made it my personal playground. For now, its for my testing purposes because i ended up still not being 100% happy with final release because most of my time was consumed with the new truck. On that note, it allowed me to openly experiment and make more interesting things.

In current state, the "update" is private. But, I may throw a screenshot here or there depending on progress. This was from some time ago now. I thought it would be fun to share.

A clan i was in we removed the tiller and the tanker to add 2 regular ladders since the tiller wasnt worth it.

what clan is this? Our T.O.S says that it may not be used for any clan modification. Private use only. You may want to notify them.

Well what shall I say. Northview South County is a modification that is always fun to play. I finally found time to play the new update a little longer and it is magnificent!

I like the final touches you gave your mod. Although I was a fan of the Quint, I love the new ladder truck. Wished there where two ladders on the map.

Haven’t found any bugs so far. The game runs flawless.

Great Job and thank you for your hard work!

Thanks! There were too many issues with the tiller unfortunately, especially for multiplayer.

  11. I've never been happier to be a part of this project over many years, the truck and scripts, if anything, are sign of how our skills have improved over time. Thank you all for playing this and the support! Enjoy this!

Keep your eyes out for our next project ?

  12. The german forums are relatively still active because they have always had the majority since the start. They've overcome just about every flaw of the game, us on the other end who dont read and speak german, are left in the dust and have to figure everything else out years later. Its not that we don't care, because chris07, grimwizard and I are still working on stuff. If anything this steam release flared it up a little bit.

But 16t should have 100% updated the base to allow for more, video options, lighting fixes, other little things, a remaster in a sense.

I know it's been some time, but do you have any detail on this? That's not a very clear issue.

Unfortunately, due to school and work we haven't made any decision on whether to continue updating this or anything else. We have plenty of ideas, we just haven't had the time.

  14. Unfortunately this really isn't possible. Sure you can script limited water supply, and you can script most any kind of event (it might not be efficient, but technically possible). This is a core gameplay mechanic and not a game behavior. To alter this you'd have to edit the game source code. Unfortunately the source code was never released. The second option is to decompile the game. The game is written in C++. Decompiling a binary executable back into human readable source code is incredibly difficult and unlikely to yield anything of use. Even if you had a l33t hacker pro decompile the game into something somone could edit, it's technically illegal as it's considered reverse engineering (see DMCA).

Making a script is out. Decompiling the game or editing source code is also out.

Getting more than 4 people in a single game is just not possible. It's like trying to shove 6 people in a 5 seater car. You can't. Limited water supply and other scripts have been prototyped well before they were actually implemented so no real ground breaking discoveries were made. The German mods had it years before Hoppah put his own together. It just seems new and earth shattering to us because no one took the time or had the skill to put such a script together up to that point.

The thing is, as modders, we are only able to modify the game in ways that the developers have allowed us. Sure we've made some cool stuff by manipulating the tools we've been given, but each and every cool modification still resides within those limits. It's like math. You can come up with all sorts of interesting and creative solutions to a problem, however each and every one of those solutions, no matter how crazy, still follows the basic rules of mathematics. Adding more than four in a game is a violation of the constraints that the developers have imposed on us in EM4. The game cannot and will not accomodate additional players. In essence, it's like trying to divide by zero. It sounds possible, but to divide by zero violates the rule of division.

but if you stack people log style in a car and add 2 in the trunk anything is possible, right?

    just kidding.

but really, this is one of those things where the line isn't in the sand, it's drawn in cement. coated in lead. protected by a "nuclear trip mine".

  15. Defently trying to do everything myself, did learn alot but now im ready to present my first project:) Also a big hanks to itchboy because he also gave me motivation and support all the time. Yes, im going to pm you then

If someone could help with uv-mapping that would be awesome. Don´t quite get it working right yet but working on it

Uv mapping is easy. Take a screenshot of top, front, rear, left, right (change the grid to black or put a green image in the material editor temporarily.)

combine all images onto 1 photoshop sheet at the proper size. (It all depends on how high rez you want your skin.) make the skin

Make sure whole model is deselected. use the center poly mode (gives you a poly in the center of each triangle/rectangle) you can use the selector tool and it usually does an alright job of selecting that side of polys. do 1 part at a time. The left side of the cab can be done, separately uv map the door handles and any details though, but you can do the body. before you uv map make sure only the parts you want to map are selected and only do 1 side at a time otherwise it creates issues with the skin.

put your skin in the material selector. right click and go Surface=>Mapping=>Edit UV and create new uv map. switch to uv mapper tool to see skin. selected area will come up in the uv mapper, drag it and scale it into where you want to move it. if you switch it to poly mode after you get it scaled and in the right area you can finely tune your polygons and how they interact with the texture.

Super short tutorial. there's a longer one in the support/tutorial section. It took me a long time to figure out but once you get it, it sticks with you

Also between the spaces add other details that you'd like to use such as tail lights, headlight textures and so forth. best way to do that is d/c it from the model, hide the main part and screenshot it. size it and you'll have a nice detailed image of what you want. don't add lights onto the skin is my best suggestion. You can, it's much better separated for detail. :)

  16. so your question on USFS operations and vehicals used and ground operations. USFS has two types of engines , the larger one you had a picture of with the ywllow white and forestry service green and then a smaller engine. Larger engine-  http://i.ytimg.com/vi/Fd4bYV1ibEI/maxresdefault.jpg smaller engine- http://fire-engine-photos.com.s3.amazonaws.com/29194.jpg diffrent variations for both but still same cab style. the units are numbered by district area mostly by many engines there are bfore that in order e.g Engine-01 then they by 20 more engines so the last one they bought would be Engine-21 but i can verify this info with the assistant fire officer in my area. The use the same units all over some older some newer then others. remember the USFS is fed so they keep the same modles across the board. USFS dosnt have air units besides fixed wing units and heli attacks for the smoke jumpers and heli attack fire crews. most other air tankers are private companys that have contracts with the goverment or are military cargo planes with a skid unit in the back. Hand crews are 20 man crews and range from hotshot crews to smoke jumpers to heli attack to your basic hand crew. then you have your engine crew and are staffed depending on they engine type IE type I type II type II and so on. i can give you persise crew staffing per engine type if you wish im a wildland firefighter and we have this handy dandy pocket book we have to have on us that gives us all this info so we know what to call for. Wildland fires fall under the National Interagency Fire Center and each state has its on wildland fire crew or crews ie The Ohio Interagency Fire Crew. they can be called up to go where ever in the united states to fight a fire and this falls into all states if they have the numbers to send a crew and most of the crews are actully college students, thats why there is a current manpower issue with the active fires out west because they lost alot of ther crews because the fall semester just started back up. and like somone else said wildfires are fought mostly by the hand crews and contain the fire but alas this is a game and we are limited on what we can do and change. Wildland firefighters dont always use engines to get water they also use portable pumps in creeks and ponds to hold the fire line and for mop up. The USFS does have Law Enforcement also just about ever national forest that is run bt the USFS has USFS Law enforcment officers there and they use the dodge pickup and chevy taho. your USFS tender is spot on btw. alot of units respond to forest fire not just the park service and USFS alot of states send crews and engines and tenders to assist depending on the location of the fire. if you need any more ifo on USFS shoot me a PM i know this was one long post and im sorry but i figured id share the info with everyone so we could all learn something new :D and for real i cant wait for this mod to come out i have been wanting a mod like this for some time now so keep at it and i am willing to donate if thats what it takes to keep this mod going!

To add on. The engines in their frontline fleet are now model 34's. 4 wheel drive engines on a navistar chassis made by a few different companies (rosenbauer, placer fire equipment, HME)
