  1. I really think a small airport like in woods map should be utilized. I mean whats LA with out LAX? Thats like Chicago with out the sears tower :P

    I love the CHP patrolling the highway idea. I plan to attempt something like this in woods map but as you said they can be messey as well, but It seems like this could be some what corrected by moving all highway traffic to the middle lanes, then program the outter lane to be for traffic leaving the high way or entering it.

    I wonder if you could remove the rain in-game, because its goes much slower when its raining.

    If you search(in the tutorial section i think) there is a topic about how to change many thing including rain frequency and on and off.

    I agree we need more traffic.

    Are there plans for an air port? Is it going to be big or small?

    I dont know about LA, but I would assume like Chicago, a city I have frequented alot, that they utilize an elevated rail system. Do you have plans for such a thing?

  3. I modified the Orange Gallardo into an LAPD cop car. I assigned all the commands from the LAPD charger and matched up everything else it seems, and when in freeplay using EM4 Deluxe, I can dispatch the unit and when it is in route it works great, but as soon as it arrives to its destination it becomes invisble, and not just to me but to the game itself as other vehichles drive through it like it doesnt exist. I can however see the ground reflection from the flashing red and blue lights. I can provide a video if need be. Any ideas whats wrong? :(

    EDIT I fixed it! Just put the placement back to custom rather the aligned corners like the charger.

    Change or add? If you mean change I was wondering that to, but I have a feeling there is no way to do so , but thats just a guess. If you want to add a lightbar go to edit children, then edit child.

  5. Hmm I dont think you could make him call FBI with out the FBI unit being bale to be purchased, but its a good idea. Perhaps instead of FBI you could do SWAT. Have the supervisor be able to dispatch swat to the scene. That would be more realistic, then have a SWAT supervisor who could call FBI, then an FBI Supervisor who could call SS. It would require a bit of scripting but I think all the code you need is already written by Hoopah it would just need a slight make over. I may attempt such a feet although I dont think it would be of much practical use since nothing gets THAT out of hand in the game that would warrant PD and/or SD plus SWAT and FBI And SS.

  6. But we need a model to then be able to skin it and then place it in the game right? So I was looking for v3o files to make the process easier as then I could just skin the model and pop it in for use in the game rather then trying to make the model myself.

  7. What sets this supervisor apart from the rest of the police personnel(just curious)?

    I dunno if the boxes are the issue or not, but try the clone function from the LAPD officer and see if you can carry them over to your supervisor. I could be wrong, but I think that may only be one of your issues. I am new to modding but just trying to help. :)

    Also, hit F1, go to person tab at the top and 01 LA Police in the list. Then find your supervisor. Then click edit. Copy and paste that screen too as it may be useful.

  8. on 1-10 my friend made it seem like a mabie 9 but mostly it will differ for your size.
    Same for bean bag guns. I saw a biog boy, like 350 lbs on cops once get shot like 4 times with bean bags. He barley flinched but when they taxed him he crippled instantly.

    I have never been mased but it does seem to last about 15-20 minutes for the worst part. I have been tazed with a small weak tazer. It wasnt that bad. Bad enough you dont want to sit there and take it(but you proabably could if you really wanted). As I said though it was a pretty weak tazer.

    That depends on where you live. I live in Evansville Indiana. We are the third largest city in Indiana and pretty much the biggest city in the tri state area(about a 2 hour radius). I am 24 years old. You know how many major police vehichle chases there have been that I can recall. About 5 or 6. There have been more I am sure but the point is high speed chases are not common here so when they happen they make the news. In the chases I recal there was never any major damage to any units.

    The concept of the vehichle seems good, but as said above parts would be a problem depending on how these cars are produced. Atleast with an ambulance I am guessing it is mostly still an E-350 part wise like the engine, drive train and so forth. I imagine it is modified slightly like the cop cars but not heavy, but hey people proabably thought the same thing when the first modern fire trucks were being developed seeeing how they are a unique vehichle much the same as this cop car.

    I have driven a Mercury Grand Marques before as a rental. They dont look the greatest but they do handle quite well for a large car and the standard engine has a nice punch to it as well.

    If there is any Traffic Lights in the game by a station. Easiest thing is to program the Traffic Lights to be trigger on when a Fire unit is in the area.

    I would have to disagree(if i understood correctly). This may work well in real life but with the AI of Emergency I think it would cause even more traffic trouble. I think it would be better, if your going to program all city traffic lights to respond to approaching units, is to turn the lights red in all directions so the emergency units can cut into oncoming lanes to get around traffic in there lanes, otherwise they cut on to the other side of the road and mid intersection collide with on coming traffic then have to deal with the traffic behind the unit blocking it from changing lanes again.

    I was wondering, i noticed hoopah included road signs like stop and yield. Do these actually function? Does it require a virtual object in front of it such as traffic lights? I have noticed a few traffic jams on w00ds map which would likely be avoided with a yield or stop sign cosnidering all lanes of traffic have the right of way. I have tried to test the signs but never can monitor the intersections enough to actually see if they work. I have thought about trying to utilize these at on ramps to help traffic flow there as well.

    Just something to replace the current SUV or the Hummer.From the pics I have seen its not uncommon for them have more then one type of SUV in there fleet so it adds realisim actually.

    the mod is about Los Angeles and LAPD mainly, not LA County, and if you want it you could just copy the current SUV and reskin the copy.

    and one last thing, Hoppah does not want suggestions for his mod, there are several suggestion threads but they have been closed as people did not look through them and kept suggesting the same things that Hoppah had already said no to.

    Well there suggested vehicles people may want to see more so then actual suggestions for the mod.

  12. If I look in Los Angeles Mod v1.8\Models\Vehicles\01 LA Ambulance. for example there is already a cv_ems2.dds and a cv_ems2.v3o. So would i just need to unlock the v30 in there? How do I unlock it. I read hoopahs tut and it said something about open editor, then go to Modifications Unlock but all i see is unpack. If i got to unpack, and the browse to cv_ems2.v3o but it says the file is already unpacked :s

  13. So I have tried infranview with all plugins, tried dds converter posted here some where, tried using the plug in on nvidias site for photoshop. None of them will work. Photoshop says the file-format module can not process it. Infranview says it cant read the header file.

    Can any one suggest how to open these dds files? If needed my PC specs are:

    Intel Core2Quad Q6660

    4 GB Patriot Ram

    EVGA Nvidia 9800 GTX+

    Some one here stated the station a LA world Wide Airport Police unit at the Airport in free play, as well as an LAX Crash Tender, 2 LA Port Police near the port Area and I took this a step further by putting a CHP Crown Vic at 2 of the highway interchanges(on w00d's map of course), and since fires get out of control so easy at the camp ground at the north east corner of the map since response times suck to this area, I keep a US Forest Fire Engine stationed there. However there are alot of crimes in this area some of the time. So I figuered why no take the above aproach a step further and provide a Park Ranger, Conservation Officer or something along that line.

    They mostly stick to SUVs it seems but I did find a few Crown Vi and even Impala Units. In my area game wardens typically drive a black or dark green Chevy Tahoe so it might be easiest to simply modify the fire or ems supervisor suv to a green or black paint job and a police(red and blue) light bar rather then a fire/medical(red) lightbar.

  15. Unfortunately, I have yet to try my hand at lights so I don't expect to be looking into that at this stage (it is a good idea though).

    At least the redirection works even if we can't see the lights.

    I actually deleted all the lights then copied the set over from the Fire Captain SUV. The only glitch is the directional light is on at all times, but of course it only redirects when the button is pushed. Good enough for now though :P I figure sooner or later I will look at the Fire SUV closer and see if i can work out the details to fix the cosmetic flaw.

    I am not sure if you have noticed, but if you look at the rear window, the BC SUV has command vehicle written, whilst the EMS SUV has Paramedic written.

    That is generally how I tell them apart. Plus of course the EMS/Battalion written on the side windows.

    I know but i figured if there was an EMS symbol on top, it would help in those times when your rushing to move units from one scene to another.

  16. ^they use yellow lights here. However some stations dont have the lights and while i havent seen a firefighter stopping traffic on dispatch, i have seen them stop traffic for the trucks to back in because at the time the station did not actually have dual garage doors for each bay. Just the old fashioned single front entrance to the bay. In fact most stations here are like that. I think its the only one with rear entrances in this city, then again its the only one in the city thats been remodeled or built in the past 10 years. There is a rural station that was built not long ago because a tornado wiped out the old station and it was more cost effective to build then repair, but the parking lots big enough for the trucks to do a three point turn around to.
