  1. Yeah I have been away for while, but it was allways in mine mind. You know I had already spend over 100 hours in the map, thats not something that you trow away easily.

    But I have to spend time on my study, I am writing my scriptie (paper?) so that takes alot of time. So what I was thinking of tonight, is to release beta versions. This way everbody can test it and send feedback witch I can fix when I have the time.

    I will come back to that idea later ;)

    First I need to contact Hoppah, hope that I can still send pm's to him...

    Nope, no response from sixteen tons.. I still have one problem and that is that you will have to wait one ingame hour for the first events, ok it gives you time to setup your patrols, but it's weird. But after that hour you get all events as normal.

    w00d, thats awsome that they work. Keep up the good work and congrats on the house. Is there a way you could explain how to add patrool paths, if you know how? Thanks.

  3. Just to let you guys know, I am working again on the map. I also contacted the developer of the game so see if I can get some support from them in debugging the new map.

    I had a version of the map working yesterday, but today the same version didn't work. So that is really weird, You should say if it works one day, and I changed nothing, then it should work also another time.

    Well lets hope that sixteen-tons is willing to respond.

  4. i know it is not nice to ask but i was amazed by the screenshots and i would like to download it. so what is the progress of the map?

    Still at the same level as it was in jan this year. I had and have sevaral injuries, such as a dislocated wrist and at the moment a really painfull shoulder. And I am to busy at the moment to finish the map. So maybe later this year..

    O and the forum looks nice, good job guys

  5. I am taking a brake for at least a week. I am to busy with school and I lost a really big part of the map. Somehow the file / map got damaged. The editor doesn't respond good to laying or editting paths and spawnpoint. Also when I play the map nothing happen anymore. Removing everything that I added the last couple of weeks doesn't work. So I was forced to get back to my last file of lamod 1.7 witch was at the beginning of january.

    This I really ........ because at this moment I don't have the time anymore that I had the last 3 / 4 weeks. So I let you guys know when I made some good progress.

  6. Hmm I have a big problem.. :machkaputt:

    The map doesn't work anymore and I have really no idea what is causing this major problem. The map worked fine last Monday. Teusday I added a lot of basic things to map such as stolencars, suicide drowings and some other stuff. But unfortunally after that the map don't work anymore.

    Normall it helps to remove everything that you have added and then you start over again. But not this time..

    I went back to my last backup that I made the 12th but that one also doesn't work anymore. (O and the normal maps do work.. ) So well in a desperate attempt I reinstalled LAMOD without succes.

    And the weird thing is that normally if you at an faulty accident then you will only get events like fallen person etc. But no fires or other "big" things. This time nothing is going on in the map. So I am pretty f**** :8: at the moment.

    I can't go back any further and I have no idea what to try next. The error logs don't give me any info and I already lost about 4 hours work.

    I really hate the debugging and logging system on em4 and I am really wondering how the developers worked with this.

    Het is inderdaad de campain map, maar dan wel aardig verbouwd. Zo heb je nu hospital, firestation 1 en 2 en policestation tot je beschikking. Daarnaast zijn er een hoop nieuwe ongelukken gemaakt en verder nog wat andere kleine veranderingen.

    Well at the camera angle that I took the screenshot it is really laggy, but I don't have any problems with the normal camera angke.

    w00d, When you manage to get a chance, Could you answer a question or two i have?

    Well,

    #1. Has the layout of the fire stations/police/hospital changed? As in where things are parked, station orientation, etc. If so, would you mind posting some 'teaser' screenshots.

    #2. Would it be possible for you to post a top-down screenshot? That'd be just great :D

    #3. Will this map be any more resource intensive (Ram, CPU, GPU) than the standard or your previous map?

    -2 The top down screenshot will be released at the same time that first beta is released.

    -3 Yes, I placed more objects and more detaild in the maps, so it will be more resource intensive.

    w00d has permission to do map changes. That doesn't mean he has permission to change the whole layout of the station or even the models of them. :)

    (I don't even know how to change the models at the moment)

    Second edition map

    Ok, I don't have, and I don't want to take, the time anymore to build the new map. I recently bought a house thats needs a lot of renovation work. I have also real plans for starting my own business, so I will never finish this map.

    But I don't want to waist 100's of hours work, there for I have desided that I will release the map as it is. All the paths are laid down, some accidents, peoples, cars, scenery, houses, trafficlights, animals, emergency stations name and it's allready done.

    So what is left? Well testing the map and fixing the bugs. Also the map need more accidents. It is up the this community to finish this map, under some rules!:

    So yes you can download the map and use it. You only need to comply to the copywrites if you release the map somewhere. For example, you spend some hours fixing the last bugs, post the map so other people can download it, then you need to mention my name, my website and that is was orginaly my map. Thats all. If you use it privatly then you don't have to do anything with the copywrites. It only means that you are allowed to make changes and to publish it. And that you are not allowed to sell it or to earn money with it.

    Update, bug fix by Xplorer4x4 at 18-08: Download

    This fixes the problem with not being able to enter the Club Fitness. Several times I had an injured person in the building which I couldnt reach since i couldnt enter the building. I also, as stated above, was not able to extinguish fires at this building since the firers sparked inside and there was no way to access the inside of the building.

    Update, bug fix by Xplorer4x4 Download

    Ok I have taken the time to package up the bug fix files, courtesy of w00ds, and a fixed version of the LAFirestationStart.script containing the fix for the backwards apertures at Fire Station 1. I also took the time to make copies of the .dds and .e4m files so that it contains a freeplay.dds and freeplay.e4m and dfreeplay.dds and dfreeplay.e4m eliminating the need to rename the files or having to load it as the standard version map for those of us with EM4 Deluxe. Link will be added to post when it is done uploading.

    F.A.Q.

    How do I install the map?

    The same way as you installed the first new freeplay map ;)

    1. Download and unpack the dfreeplayr.zip file. (30mb's! large)

    2. Move the folder 3 files' to your Emergency 4Mod\Los Angeles Mod v1.x\maps folder.

    3. This is a universal file, so it's for both versions and won't replace any file.

    4. Make sure all older files will be overwritten (otherwise you did something wrong).

    You should have replaced this 2 files:

    dfreeplay.e4m

    dfreeplay.dds

    And also added the .eft file.

    Some info

    As already announced in my topic of the first new freeplay map am I working on a second edition. As I am closing in on the first beta release of this map I thought that it would be nice to keep you guys updated.

    The first release of the map will be compatible with the normal and 911:FR version of EM4. So there won't be any deluxe events in the first place. That doesn't mean that you can't play the map if you have the deluxe version.

    Later if all the bugs are out of the map and if I still have the time I will maybe add the deluxe events.

  10. :news: I installed the map & floor to the 1.8 mod everything runs smooth but the USAR squad & the new HVY rescue are not in the fire unit menu. The USAR spawns in the firehouse like it is supposed to but if you loose it you cant get a new one... I know there isn't going to be an official fix due to wood working on a new map but if anyone has any ideas for a possible quick fix lemme know! (at least thats what happened when I did it)

    The map doesn't have any influence on the available vehicles. The map only provides the spawn points for the vehicles.

  11. NextGen feature update

    A few days or weeks or whatever ago somebody posted somewhere in this forum the question if it possible to make higher buildings. Well it's ;). As you can see in the pics below, the fire engines and the ladder are able to get to the top part, the fireman only to the second part of the building. So that good news.

    But offcourse there is also 1 disadvantages, but not a big one.. Choppers will fly trough the building and not over it, but that's the only problem! (That I have found)

    the fire that started here on the top floor was not an automated event, but a manually set fire in the editor. The building is able to burn, just like any other building, but I don't have any control in it.
