  1. I don't have the textures of the ground, only w00ds probably has them.

    Today I noticed an email from Xplorer4x4 with the request of the texture file, well I had the time so I uploaded the files, both from my first and second map. The files are around the 400mb large and in psd format. You can use them conform the copyrights that are with the origanal map. Read it here.

  2. I am alive!! But very busy at the moment. The renovation of my new property had some unexpected wendings but it's going the right way now. I won't be able to do any modding until the holiday's so I won't fix bugs etc untill then. Poeple have been asking to me for the texture file of the underground (map). The problem is that the psd file is 400mb's large due the highresolution. Also the TGA file is 200mb, so I can't upload it anywhere.

    If somebody can give me an adres where I can place the files, then I will upload it there.

  3. have been playing this map by myself now for a little bit over the last few days. after i play for awhile i stop getting calls for service. ive looked around and i think it has to do with the paths that the people are using. i looked around and there are large groups of people just piled up at certain places. so im not sure if they just arent getting to their final location and not able to disappear or if the actual path is messed up.

    any ideas? also is anyone else having this issue?

    To help us, the modders, fixing that kind of problems, please make a screenshot of it. Because last time I looked for the pile ups but I couldn't find one. So a screenshot will help a lot.

  4. I know the editor now pretty well, but there is one thing that I am still don't understand. How can I position lights on the vehicles.

    I know how to edit vehicles, how to modify lights and how to add them. But in the light editor you see a small model of the vehicles, how the **** can you rotate that or rotate your view in that window. Or is there a way to move the corona of the light only one way, so lets say only over the x axes then later of the y axes for example. Just like you can move a object vertical in the editor by using the alt key.

    There must be a simple way, how can you otherwise place the braking lights easily?

  5. 1st. Read through the previous pages to find the fix for the fire trucks. If you don't feel like reading to find fix then just move all the vehicles out of station and send them all back and they will be all back the normal way.

    2nd. I don't think you have to rename the freeplaySE.eft just the .dds and .e4m files according to the version you have.

    3rd. Try reinstalling the map again WITHOUT renaming the freeplaySE.eft.

    You don't need to rename the .eft file. When do people start to read!? The install instruction are in the first post! I don't write it for myself but for you guys, so please take a minute and read it.

    To make it more LA style (LA mod), add much traffic so its very busy on the road.

    I allready added more traffic then normal. That's causing the traffic jams.

    Ive found gunman on his place near the train station.

    Well yes it should be the new files. Check the file date of the .em4 file. It should be from today (16-08-2009). The name of the zip file is Freeplay map Second Edition.

  7. Update

    Because the files of the small crew had been lost have I taken some time to fix the small bugs. The paths are now correct, gunman deleted, FS2 is working ok, added trafficlights, added a sniper event, silo can be towed away, cockpit of crashed plane can be towed away, people that are standing under a building is fixed, added some fences to block ambu from driving trough forest and some other small things witch I can't remember.

    I didn't change the traffic flow, because that requires a lot of testing.

    I want to thanks the crew that have been working on the bugs. I hope that they will continue on improving this map.

  8. I have been working on my house for the last 5 weeks. I had taken sometime of so I could make a good start with the renovation. But this is my last weekend so I need to rest a bit for monday.

    And I thought lets play EM4 again. But with that thought I noticed that there are still some irritating bugs. A small group of people have been working on the map but I readed that GB619 lost the work due a computer crash. I don't know what is left of it and I haven't spoke any of the guys lately, but I fixed some of the bugs tonight. Thnxs to the small crew that has been working on it.

    I am planning to release it tomorrow, sunday. So people can play the map in a better form until the next release of the crew.

    I fixed the gunman, path issue, FS2 issue, added a traffic light, silo and cockpit can be towed awayand some other small bugs. So there are still some issues left, but the map is a little bit better this way.

  9. I wouldnt bother going through woods to get this released as I dont think he wants anything to do with it anymore.

    Well nothing nothing.. I don't have the time anymore. And I spend a few years on modifying maps etc, so now is it time for some one else. ;)

    I looked trough the post and pictures of the modified map. I see some good things and also some thing that I don't like to much. The street trough the park, that's something that I don;t like. I know that it's the easy way to go, but with that street you will lose in my opinion some of the reality.

    In the old situation you will had to run trough the park to get to a patient or drive around. Yeah that cost some time but it's more realistic. And ok it takes more time for a firetruck to get to the construction site, but you can't always have a fire near the corner.

    The second thing that I don't like to much is the extra bushes that are places by the houses. You need to place something there to stop the EM vehicles from driving trought the forest, thats trough. But you also need to have access from that sides for the childeren that are playing there, and to get to the crashed plane. It also looks not to realistic, better is to place a fence with an opening for people.

    But overall am I really happy that there people that are willing to finish the map. About any approval, you don't need to change the thing that I mentioned to "get" approval, but it's just mine opinion on these points.

    And to the modders: I am really unreachable for the next 2 weeks. Just send me a email if you have questions and I will answer them as soon as I can. Good luck with the map.

  10. Hmm I am guessing you would just need to upload the e4m file, but to be safe if you upload all 3 files then that should do the trick.

    Maybe latter I can look at the map and see what I can do as far as lending a hand to fix some of these bugs. In wich case, soldjaboy, if i get your fixed paths and such I should be able to work on fixing up some of the other path among other issues.

    You only need to upload the em4 file. That file contains the everything besides the underground and the small mini map. The underground is the .eft file (the big one). The other one is the minimap.

    And correct me if I'm wrong, but the LAMOD 1.8 used to, buy vehicles and send them to your location, when ordered. Now with this map, I get

    vehicle not available. So I have to buy all the vehicles first?

    Well you should be able to just buy the vehicles just like the normal freeplay maps.

  11. Great job on fixing some of the bugs. Last night I played the map and found some other bugs. I can easly fix those bugs, but then one of us will have to do that work over.

    At the moment there are 3 people, as far as I know, working on the map. GB619, Soldjaboy and me (for this week).

    So maybe it's an idea to keep one list of bugs updated with the ones that are fix (and by who) that are new and who is working on the bug. We probably won't work at the same time on the map so if we spread the map around (with the use of rapidshare for example), then we can fix most of the bugs in a short amount of time.

    The bug list at this moment

    * Traffic is driving slower if you run the map in the standard version

    * Some path issues with the second firestation.

    * In the first station the engines are standing reversed. (Soldjaboy & GB619)

    * Ambu from hospital to FS1 drives trough the forest (GB619)

    * in the deluxe version events take a few minutes to start. > gunman (jab16)

    * sometimes traffic jams in the village (lower left corner) > add traffic lights?

    *A pedestrian keeps walking into street where clubs are and causing traffic jam (witch one?)

    *BLS ambulance will not park at firestation 2 > rear door is wrong?

    *Path issue to second firestation,the fire trucks rock back and forth on spot

    *police helicopter can be sent to police staion,but not back to HQ

    *Rescue heli can not be sent back to HQ,so your stuck with it on map

    *Fire plane will not drop water or go anywhere near forest near railway tracks(could this be a script error?

    *Person path issue at the construction site. People are walking trough / around the fences.

    The map is good i agree,but i can see why you were frustrated wOOd,so alas i have removed it from my game as too many issues to fix :cry:

    Well I am not frustrated, because all this issue are fixable. But it takes so much time to 1 > open the editor, load the map, make some changes, save, start the game, test it and back to point 1. And I don't want to take that time anymore.

    And the traffic jams are easy to fix by lowering the amount of traffic at the spawn points. But I choose to at more traffic, because that's more realistic. Only with that are coming a lot of other issues.

    You can also find the solutions in the intersections. Each intersection has 4 traffic lights. Normally you will link them al together, so only 1 traffic light can go on green at the same time. But that is not realistic, so what I did is that I made at small intersection 2 sets of traffic lights, this way 2 individual traffic lights can have green light at the same time. So traffic from opposite direction can drive at the same time. This speeds up the amount of traffic that's driving around. But also causes some traffic issue. (But there is the police for ;) ).

    All the bugs that you listed, beside the traffic issue, are easy to fix within a hour. Maybe I will look at it tonight when I am home.

  13. To fix your editor/game crashing, DO NOT change the name of your .eft file. Leave it freeplaySE.eft. the only files that need to be renamed are "DFreeplay.dds" and "Dfreeplay.e4m"

    As far as the trucks facing the wrong direction, w00d's directions are correct. However, he left a very important detail out. You have a make sure your constant variables are named in the script. This being the gates. I will post up my script as soon as I get a chance. I'm at work atm.

    I have no clue as into why it takes forever and a day for an incident to occur. Also, all of the streets aren't connected. I went through and connected everyone. If you are trying that in the editor, remember......two blue and one red in the center means a street isn't connected. two blue with a grey in the center means everything is good to go.

    Hmm weird that the streets are not connected. I checked the map in the editor and here are all the streets perfectly connect. Maybe an issue with em4 deluxe > 911 FR? or something like that?. Why it takes forever to start the first events is a weird problem. I already tried to contact sixteentons on some more info about debugging the map, but offcourse no respons.

  14. the map works for me. i had to go into the editor and load the map, load the floor and then save it. it works for me great. awsome job w00d i love it. if i could only fix the fs1 problem this map would be complete.

  15. Well I can't recall all the bugs, it's about 2 month ago that I worked on it.

    But what I still know is:

    Open the script LAFireStationStart.srcipt

    There are the codes for all the spawning vehicles.

    Look at the last 3 vehciles (near irtual object VO_AMBULANCE04, VO_ENGINE05 en VO_HAZMAT; These are from FS2). You see that there is added some more code incompare to the other vehicles.

    For example the next rule of VO_AMBULANCE04:

    GameObjectList gate08a = Game::GetGameObjects(NAME_GATE08A);

    for(int i=0; i < gate08a.GetNumObjects(); i++)

    GameObject *gate = gate08a.GetObject(i);

    To every garagedoor belongs a virtual object. The script craps the location of the virtual object and rotates the vehicle to it. You will have to modify the other vehicles like this.

    Yes you can download the map and use it. You only need to comply to the copywrites if you release the map somewhere. For example, you spend some hours fixing the last bugs, post the map so other people can download it, then you need to mention my name, my website and that is was orginaly my map. Thats all. If you use it privatly then you don't have to anything with the copywrites. It only means that you are allowed to make changes and to publish it. And that you are not allowed to sell it or to earn money with it.

    I will add this also in the start post.

    Well usually people make a new post when there is an update.

    I did and referd to the startpost ;). This way everything stays nice at one place.

    I agree that it would be a shame to throw away hours of work,but it has been said that if someone releases a new map or mod they must support it,and he clearly wont,i like the new map,but we all know there willbe lots of ppl who will come here and ask all sorts of questions on why does this not work etc,i willbe happy to help with issues,but was just making a point.

    Like i said,i respect what wOOd has done and i am not having a go at him

    And i guess the first round of questions will involve

    How do i install the new map,as there are no instructions with the download on where or how to install the new map etc....lol

    Well the most of you have brains, and the most of you are known with the first map I made. You install it the same way offcourse. But ok, I will at this also to the startpost.

    And I will be around the coming 2 weeks to awnser the first couple of question to help you guys getting started. The hole purpose of this is that I don't trow a lot of work away and make this somekind of opensource like project. Where the community finishes this rough diamond.
