  1. So. There is progress!

    However, I am having trouble with scripting the vehicles so that they return to their respective spots.

    Below are screenshots of the VOs that I have put in for the Military Base and the Harbour Station. The problem is, I'm not sure how to create/modify the scripts to allow the vehicles to return to their spots. If someone is able to explain that to me, or help me with it, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

    I can give you the names of each VO if it is needed, and if you are able to help me, Please post on this thread or drop me a PM! Thanks!

    I am trying to edit some places too. If you look on the normal LA Mod map, and go to the center and move a tad to the left, you will spot a fast food shop with a drivethru. It has a pretty good car park. What I have done is deleted the idle cars, and moved some bushes/barriers out the way around the store for entrance/exit. I'm going to use that as a custom station for many vehicles, where I will hold Patrolcars, SUVs, Bomb Squad, EMS, Heavy Rescue, Technician, and other small vehicles in it. A custom station near the center of the map is easyier than editing the fire station. I have two questions about this. Maybe someone, could please enlighten me?

    The first thing is those virtual object pictures. What is the smaller virtual object there for? I spot it infront of the fire station gates too. Is it the object where vehicles align up to go forward/backwards into the space? What do I name the object?

    The second thing is I want to change the lines of the car park, however I find no way in the editor to edit it. I don't know if it is a DDS file or something which makes up all the ground and its markings or not. What file/option do I use to change that?

  2. The equipment LA Mod puts into the vehicles, such as the guns, shields, barricades, cones and flares, are not in the XML and are apparently in a script, but I cannot find it.

    Also, I know for editing default base game equipment I need to edit the XML file, which I can do fine, but I need to update the traits in the editor. I edit the traits, and click okay. What do I need to do next? Is the click on "OK" going to save the item? or do I save the map? (I'm not going to try it without confirmation as it may wipe the map and replace it with nothing except a vehicle in the middle)

    I am a big customizer. I like to change things around. In the EM4 editor, I have been playing around with items on the map. I've been duplicating and adding those yellow hydrant things all over the city so cops can use them, (I have added hoses to cop cars) and have duplicated those red things at the fire station that act as a trailer and contain all the equipment. However, I have came across some stuff I simply cannot do.

    1) I wish to remove/edit the car parking spaces at some places, and I cannot figure out how to do this.

    2) It is possible to simply make something hold an object without adding commands? (For example, Give every hydrant a fire hose)

    3) I wish to change the items used in vehicles that are not in the XML's or Traits (such as riot shields and guns). I got told these were in a script. What script are these in? Looked in every file or script that has a relation to weapons, guns, or vehicles.

    Thats all for now. If anyone knows any of them, please alert me to them. Any help is deeply appriciated.

  4. O.o The "dozen_transporter" is the only disabled one. How come I found the old LAPD helicopter ingame and its not in that list? (Unless I got names mixed up) - I also see how to disable too. Just add the "comment/ignore" <!-- xxx --> tags like in HTML or PHP. ;P

    While on the topic of vehicles, I have been using this tutorial for a while now:

    Their is a bit for equipment, Where things like roadblocks and fire extinguishers are. How come flares, cones, barricades, guns and shields are not their for the vehicles that use them? O.o

  5. Thanks! Thats good as I can re-enable it in future. For that file I only know the count changes the amount of vehicles of each you get on load, but never knew what would happen if I removed it. One issue. Not all vehicles are in that file. Hm... In the unit XML for each vehicle there is a "freeplay" section. I know freeplay is mission 22 - Would removing 22 from the freeplay part of the XML work too?

    Also, Ill ask here instead of another thread. Is it possible to enable vehicles too? The old police heli, Secret service, ect, are all "hidden" from freeplay. I know they are their as some commands can call them - They simply don't appear on the dispatch menu to the left. How can I display them?

    After fiddlin' with vehicle XML files, and reading many threads about modding, I was just thinking of getting rid of vehicles which are useless. Useless to me of course, but things like... Is it CHPD? The cops in cream uniform? I don't need them as I have LAPD, for example. I want to remove these from the game, however I am unsure what files to delete to get rid of the vehicles safely. I don't know if they are linked up to a script like PHP can be... Deleting the vehicle under "Units" may mess with a script, thus causing game issues.

    What files must I delete to delete a vehicle safely?

  7. Hi All,

    Does anyone have a DDS converter? I am editing vehicle XML files and cannot relate ingame names to vehicle folder names, thus I require a DDS converter to view the vehicle like I would see it in game. The DDS Converter v2.1 both on this site, and google, both do not work. The convert button never appears and the preview (which is what I want) fails. The DDS Photoshop thing on this site does not work with Adobe Photoshop CS5.

    Does anyone know an alternative?

  8. No intention to be rude, and I know you have a life away from gaming, but please hurry up! :P (Is development still even going on?)

    "Customising Traffic and Pedestrian Traffic

    Enabling and disabling events (and customising them)"

    Those sound good. I'd like to change how much traffic/pedestrians their are along with changing events. Would their be a feature to change it's frequency? For example I want police situations like hostage situations and demonstrations to happen more often than random fires.

  9. I hope this happens. I also hope the sirens have different actions. For example, one siren could make ALL traffic and pedestrians move out the way, and another could make them stop and not move. Another could make the vehicles pull over to the side of the road (or divert). Another could be heard from a while away, thus vehicles and people would take action (ie move out the way) before the vehicle is even close to them. What do you guys think about my idea?

  10. Sorry for the bump, but has any serious development been done on this?

    EDIT: I can't wait for the tape alone to come out. All I want is the tape :P - I have questions for Dyson;

    1) Will the tape have the ability to change lenght? (Ie, The tape could go street lenght or lenght of a car and still look okay?)

    2) Will police/emergency services be able to go through the tape? (I don't care about tape lifting animations)

    3) Will vehicles and pedestrians be completely blocked off by the tape? (The public cannot get past?)

    4) Can the tape go between different sizes of vehicles? (Like 2 bikes or 2 police helis?)

    EDIT: I see this has been released in the latest version. Does anyone know what file(s) I must create or change to replace the metal barricade with the tape one?

    EDIT: Is it also possible to have both commands? (Have the metal and tape barricade?) I know how to edit vehicle XML properties and traits so adding the new tape barricade would be fine for me, but would any command scripts need changing?

  11. I need help with this too. I want to delete a building in the middle of the map (which I can do), and then copy/paste a car park from another area, putting it where the building was. I then want to rename the "Send to Police Station" command to "Send to Parking Area", in which the vehicles will return to the Virtual Objects in the center parking area. Is this possible?

  12. I'd like to see more. Trust me, when you play freeplay for over 6 hours, the same events start popping up in the same places. Demonstrations near the bottom of the map, Suiside attemps at the building to the lower left with a window thats open all the time, and crate fires near the dock. It's really annoying me. I love it and its fun, and it not really really annoying, but soon I'll get bored of it. I'd like to see more Demonstrations, Riots, Bank Robberies, Hostage Situations, maybe even murders... In freeplay... Not a mission, and, when one of these tricky events is on, no other events can spawn until it's complete or failed. Maybe someone will make freeplay missions soon. I can't wait.
