I recently played this mod at the suggestion of Itchboy. Some key takeaways I had:
- This mod is incredibly fun!
- The fire department and police units look amazing.
- I love that it's set in the 80s, it gives it a very "action-movie" feel to it.
- There are a couple of callouts that I don't remember ever seeing before, which keeps things interesting!
This mod is a GOOD mod. However, I do have two bugs to report and a couple suggestions that can make it even better than it already is.
- BUG: When instructing a PD officer to put on a traffic vest, they revert to LA mod models
- POSSIBLE BUG? : The M4 icon for SWAT officers appears a little glitchy. I didn't click on it for fear of potentially crashing my game though.
- SUGGESTION: A little more detail in the EMS vehicle livery would go a long way (but it's also good as-is).
- SUGGESTION: SWAT Officers granted access to flash-bangs for the hostage callouts. As is, it ends in a shootout almost every time.
- SUGGESTION: A mass-casualty unit would be ideal for a couple of the callouts (specifically the large MVC on the east side).
- SUGGESTION: Implementation of a parking script and/or water tank script would make this mod even more fun than it already is! (Admittedly I don't know how easy or hard it is to implement this, and what kind of permissions are required from other authors)
Thank you Stockboy8 and CanadianFrog for a great mod, it will stay in my lineup for a long time! (And thank you to itchboy for suggesting this mod to me.)
Thank you so much for your feedback, and thank you even more for playing my mod! I'd like to take a moment to respond to each of your bug reports and suggestions.
-The traffic vest bug is simply because I have not swapped the models for officers with the vest. I will be removing the command to change in the next version
-The M4 icon is a symptom of something I meant to fix but never got around to. I'll do my best to have it all ready for the next version, by having SWAT officers able to grab M4s (or in the context of this mod, M16 most likely)
-EMS will be getting a full rework in the next version as I'm not happy with as it is right now. I have some new models on the way,
-I tested this and swat officers ARE able to grab flash grenades, I have no idea why you were unable to grab them.
-I've thought about having an MCU but I've been unable to find any reference pictures that fit the era. If you or anyone else has some, please post them here or DM me.
-Parking script will most likely never come as I doubt I'd get proper permissions, but a water supply script may come, just not in the next update.-

Very bad news for you all today. I had to system reset my computer- meaning that I've lost maybe a weeks worth of progress on the mod. Luckily- I backed up the mod recently so progress can resume as soon as I'm situated.

A DMC DeLorean
Imagine a DeLorean crash in a similar style to the plane crash from Winterberg... plus you can make it a HAZMAT event!

I'm glad to see my favorite childhood DvD as your savior!
the concept of police ambulances is interesting, but as far as I know most/all of them in the US were phased out by the late 50s-

Talking about the lightbars, is comon in the US red lightbars? I remember the Metro Police and not much more. White and yellow for the NYPD maybe back in the days?
If by metro police you're referring to my Hill Street Blues submod, you should know that that department is 100% fictional and made for the show.

Like the, now gone, Chicago Fire Insurance Patrol?
I'll always be a fan of the New York Fire Patrol but lets not hijack this thread any further

Maybe it's because I am from Spain, but, What's the pourpouse of a salvage squad?
Salvage squads were used in the 20th century mostly to prevent damage to property. This was mainly relocating furniture and preventing water damage in multiple dwelling structures.

What I can assume would come before USAR would be a salvage type squad like this http://www.usfirepolice.net/ca_california/ca_lafd/ca_los_angeles_retired_squad_27_(9)-1.jpg
this is the most recent picture I can find and I'm not 100% sure if it would fit the era. I'm not the most knowledgeable on the LAFD.

Another 2 RA's to the fleet; An ALS version of the 1992 Type 2, and another variant to the Chevies.
I look forward to showing off the BLS versions soon.
Credit to MikeyPI for the Econoline van, and Hoppah for the Code3 XL lightbar texture.
My second agenda is this ambulance.
I would like to consult with people here regarding whether it should be included or not. Only one picture of it exists, and it looks very off-spec to all other LAFD RA's, but it might be worth it to some players.
As a fan of more obscure units, I'd really like it to be included.

Out of curiosity, what font are you using for "Metro Police" on the side of the police cars? It fits really well with the theme/era
Unispace. It's a great font for things in this era, as a matter of fact it's the same font I use for the numbers on the fire trucks

Dang itch, looks like you beat me to the open cab tiller club, and probably did it better than I ever would.
Amazing work as always!

bug found, missing MP5s for SWAT officers, can add "debug traffic" button in fire stations and police stations as npc traffic always stuck after riot callouts, disappearing swat vans
missing MP5s is a known bug. The weapons are still functional.
I am not going to add a debug traffic button if the traffic is not bugged, it's down to you to fix traffic jams created by calls.
I've never encountered any 'disappearing swat vans', please elaborate

Hello this is a good mod! but the lights of the police cars and ems and firetrucks are all just white squares
can you tell me how to fix it
Please observe the download page and previous posts. The coronas from the Miami mod are required.
-
In the future I plan for all those vehicles to have their respectful replacements.
It's very hard finding good reference pics for the era or from the show itself for these types of vehicles.when I return to this mod my main priorities are for Coroner and EMS variation.

Some quick updates.
I've gotten the go to hospital and patrol scripts to work. After that I've got to get some stations in, then later another event or two, and the map will be pretty much done.
Above all, though, vehicles are my biggest priority right now. Theres still a few more I need to work on, but I've got some help. The project is moving along much quicker than expected.
I did some poking around on the german forums and found a free to use map base I might take and mess around with. Theres a lot of city and water space, so it will be ideal for a mod like this. Thats still far into the future though, so lets focus on the present for now.

Ok y'all. I need your help again. I edited EmC_Units 1998 Pierce Dash for this mod (one of my favorite models on this website) and replaced the LED lightbar with a more era-appropriate (and easier to light) mx7000 lightbar that was previously in the mod. I've looked and I'm unable to find credits for it. I'm assuming Hoppah, as this model also appears in the base LA mod but I'd like to make sure.
other than that everything is coming along very nicely. More updates to come regarding EMS and FD in the near future

Ok y'all. Quick update. I am now the only person working on this project. This means updates will be slow, but they'll still come.
Heres a list of planned features, I'm hoping to get a 0.5 release out within the next few months.
- on map clinic and police station
- patrol routes for police cars and ambulances
- New fire department liveries and a few models(white over lime green)
If there is anything you all want to see in the mod please let me know, currently I'm just working with what's already in the mod but that won't be enough for my liking.

Hill Street Blues Mod [V1.0.1 released 4/3/2021] [Slow WIP]
in Modification Sub-Mods WIP (In Development)

Thank you so much for the photo, I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough but that bus is almost exactly what I was looking for. As for the album, It's an amazing thing to flip through but unfortunately many of the vehicles fall outside my intended timeframe. Still, it should keep me busy for a few days.

An update for all of you, since many of you complained about a lack of variety within the police department, so I decided to add some state troopers. I took a look at a few different state trooper vehicles from different states Hill Street Blues was based on, and decided on New York for a setting. I completed two vehicles to fill the CHP slots. Both are Itchboy's Ford LTD with EmC_Unit's Aerodynic lightbar
