Need some advice from people with Medical experience.

This is for the Paramedics, Doctors etc. amongst you.

I am currently scripting for GTA San Andreas and I'm making a 'mini-mission'.

Basicly you're a Paramedic responding to all kinds of calls around town and need to treat the victims. Since I have no medical knowledge at all, I need your help. What I need from you is a description of the procedures you follow with incidents (along with the equipment you use). For example:

A person is seriously dehydrated:

Administer fluids

Person has a headache:

Give victim some aspirin

Keep in mind though that this is no hardcore simulation, but just a small 'job' to do.

For now I need you to answer the following questions:

- What equipment do you use the most (Top 5)?

- What's the procedure and equipment used for:

• Person is seriously dehydrated
  
• Person accidentally cut himself and is bleeding
  
• Person stabbed (No major injuries)
  
• Person fell and has a cut on the forehead
  

- Which calls would you recommend which don't require patient transportation to a hospital?

But I can suggest you to look at the RTS mod, they have some realistic gameplay

Here are some examples of minor calls

Panic attack

-Calm person down (perhaps like the suicidal person in LCPDFR)

Person seriously dehydrated

-Give person fluids orally if able if not take person to hospital and administer IV

Non critical cut, stabbing

-Bandage cut depending on size. small cut-large band aid, large cut- a pad wrapped with gauze.

For most non transport calls the family member or victim just wants a second opinion on how serious it is.

Head injury

This call may require transport, you don't mess around with head and neck injuries. First you would set the person down and check for concussion, test their responses and check for shock if all are negative escort the person to a capable family member and leave him/her in their care. If the person has a concussion, is impaired or goes into shock transport to the hospital for observation.

Most used equipment:

Oxygen tank

ALS kit (also referred to as jump bag)

Monitor/AED combo

Backboard

KED

Unless you mean specific pieces, in which case it would go like this:

Glucometer

Stethoscope

BP cuff

Monitor/AED

Backboard

Also, for the head injury, if they have any head or neck pain, they're going to have a C-collar put on them, backboarded, and transported non-emergent to the ER.

For no-transports, you could do things such as a wellness check, where we go to a house and do exactly what the title says: make sure the person is okay.

Call procedures:

-Dehydration

Administer IV saline and transport non-emergent

-Accidental cut w/ small bleed

Bandage and no-transport

-Stabbing

Bandage, transport to hospital. Would also involve PD.

I think interesting calls would include a cardiac arrest (PM if you want treatment, its a bit long to explain here), man versus car, MVC, fall, assault.

2-O2 cylinder

3-Defimonitor

4-Trauma kit (KED, Collars, Spineboard)

5-Suction unit

Person is seriously dehydrated: obtain IV access / Give fluids / check blood pressure, O2 saturation (with pulseoximeter) , check temperature and try to understand what caused the dehydratation (alcohol, heat, fever, diarrhea etc.)

Person accidentally cut himself and is bleeding: Wear protective clothing if severe bleeding, before approaching the scene / Staunch bleeding and consider using a tourniquet / if the cut is on a limb, lift it / get IV access / check blood pressure, O2 Saturation, heart rate)

Person stabbed (No major injuries): call for police / staunch bleeding / do NOT remove the knife (or whatever they used) / check vital parameters (as above)

Person fell and has a cut on the forehead: apply a cervical collar / check for consciousness / staunch bleeding / check vital parameters, check pupils reaction (with a flashlight) and GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale)

EMR

1. C spine/neck brace, usually as a precaution but you should always be very careful with neck injuries.

2. Fluids (Gatorade, water) I go to a lot of people who are just to exhausted/dehydrated to keep hiking, the usually perk up fast with some fluid.

3.0², except in a few rare cases applying oxygen doesn't hurt a patient and in some cases can really help stabilize someone quickly.

4. Gloves/PPE (should probably be number 1) Always put protective equipment on, the last thing you want to do is get something like HIV from someone.

5. Pads and wraps, always useful to contain bleeding (although in a average emergency the external bleeding is not what kills you and if it is it will happen quickly and their is not to much that can be done)

I've gotten into scripting for SAMP a while back in a scripting language called pawn. Haven't used it for ages and figured this would be a nice way to set a challenge for myself and get something nice done as well. At this moment I have no intention of going public with my script yet as I do it for fun, but who knows what I'll think about it in a few months. I get more done every single day so maybe one day I reach the point of actually starting a server. So to answer your question: No, this is not a cleo mod nor DYOM, it's scripted from scratch. If the server ever goes public, people will be able to join as Paramedic and respond to random calls across town.
