Doing a Reskin

Recommended Posts

Its easy.

1. get photoshop

2. get a dds plugin for photoshop ( since most of the reskin files are dds )

3. put the reskin files, you just drag the file into PS( usually in model/vehicle folder , ex models/vehicle/fire department/rw.dds )

4. make the reskin that you want.

5. save the file, in this case as dds.

6. put the dds file back to its original folder and overwrite the old one. DONE :)

Without going into details:

Covert the dds file* to a photoshop or paint file (with a program called DDS Converter 2, is in the downloads section: http://forum.emergency-planet.com/index.php?/files/file/295-dds-converter/), edit with one of them -or another program similar- and after editing convert again to dds file and save it in the place that was, overwriting the original file. And you have your own skin :holdglass:

*That file is located for example for doing a reskin of an ambulance in LA mod in Emergency 4\Mods\Los Angeles Mod v2.0\Models\Vehicles\01 LA Ambulance

Hope this can help you :)

PS: for more info see the tutorials or just ask.

Edit: matte31 you explained before me, when I started writing it wasn´t posted :P

Some people just cant afford photoshop. Theres also plenty of other image editing programs in the world, Like gimp, paint.net etc...
