  1. nope, you are wrong, it is a military based unit,.. GIPN is police based,..:)

Sorry to turn this into an arguement but I am currently reading in a Special Forces book that 'GIGN take its orders from the French Ministry Of Defence, but its members remain policemen, with powers of arrest...' and 'Most of the 700 or so GIGN actions have been police operations.' They even refer to the men as Officers instead of Troops and they prefer to arrest rather than kill.

Unless the book is wrong, which is possible.

  2. Source?

    Based on what?

I'm British and therefore am Biased. :holdglass: Seriously, I think they have the best service history, are very efficent, train perhaps the hardest and I would not want to be on the receiving end of them.

I think that the best police tactical unit are LAPD SWAT, but special forces including army these are among the best - British SAS, Germany - GSG9, French GIGN, USA - FBI HRT, ,..

GIGN remain essentially a polcie unit more than a military one.

  3. is that a HS 2000 handgun on picture?

No, in his drop leg holster is an Austrian made Glock 17, he is carrying a German Made Heckler and Koch G36 Assault Rifle and in his left brest pocket is an American/British made Tazer (I think).)

Feel free to correct me on the Tazer.

  4. @917893678251: Sorry, it's just I swear I read somewhere you'd posted that.

@hunter42: I thought the French had GIGN. Groupe Intervention Gendarmerie Nationale? Germans make good guns, Heckler and Koch in particular: like the G36C with Reflex scope in your ARU picture and the MP5SD on the far right of the GIPN photo. I just noticed the Airport Officer also has a Tazer.

  5. The fastest SWAT force in the world. I don't know how they can freakin jump in vans :O. Their SWAT officers nationwide in different sectors including the PAP,SPU,SWCU,PLA Special operations force, and immediate action unit adds up to like 800 thousand.

This is why Al Qaeda doesn't mess with China.

I thought you weren't from China, so this post's irrelevent surely?

Being British we don't have SWAT per se. We have local Armed Response Units (in ARV's that are normally Ford Galaxies or Vauxhall Merivas) but Thames Valley Police (my area) also have an armoured Land Rover for siege sitatuions

The ARU's in my area all have the Glock 17 sidearm and normally the MP5A3 SMG, although they are starting to use the G36C and Colt M16 Assault Rifles.

  6. Where did you find the image? Also, it looks very heavily armoured and strangely has double wheels at the back. It also is in the same colour as the Jankels, suggestion armed police affiliations. It also has two orange beacons meaning it is used at airports. Therefore I conclude, like the original Jankels, it is to do with Heathrow's armed police.

I may be wrong but they're my observations.

  7. If you're talking about the wig-wag flashers I don't think it's pointless as, in the UK where the only forward facing emergency lights tend to be blue, it provides a colour contrasting flash to alternate with the grill/dash/mirror lights. Also, normally they are a different light in the headlight compartment to the headlight so at night the driver still has headlights. More often than not on marked units the light bars incorporate some sort of forward facing light for driving as well.

As far as I know it doesn't cause any problems but I don't know where the idea came from - maybe it came from unmarked units and just spread to the other vehicles.

  8. Three rubbish ones from me:

Everyday a German Shepard comes and craps on my lawn. Today he brought his dog.

Did you hit him in defence?

No, I hit him in de face and he fell over de fence.

Police closed Liverpool town centre after discovering a suspicious item in a vehicle. Turned out later that it was a tax disc.

  9. 1. I was in my dad's car with my family and we were going down a bypass and 2 inches of haile fell in 3 seconds, never seen anything like it in England! About 4 cars just went into the ditch, luckily dad kept control. However, someone must have known it was coming because not two seconds afterwards a four man police bike patrol, again something that I've not seen over here, arrived on blues and twos.

    2. When I was very young, were in the village bookshop that ajoined to the village hall. We heard a scream and a series of thumps and ran into the hall. This old lady had been preparing the hall for a festival, she had fallen off a step ladder, landed on a 4'x4' bit of satin cloth and skidded the length of the room (12 metres) before hitting a door frame. First time I've had to call an ambulance in my life.

  10. I know you're not psychiatrists, which why I'd like your help. You're real people who encounter real things with real brains in your heads, brains that can logically think about situations and can give sound advice, not namby pamby psychiatrist rubbish. I think I will try Pryo's approach and if the message doesn't get through I'll try your approach, either way a result will be reached that I hope will be the right one. I wanted to talk to someone who wasn't my parents or friends or teachers who knew the guy and someone who could be totally detached and make a decision that wasn't bias based on the options given.

For all of you who contribuited thanks a lot and I'll see how it turns out after the Christmas holidays.

  11. @pyro Finally some sensible advice! If you think that's best then I may try it.

@jab16 I could have understood if it was family issues but dragging it out over a year suggests it can't be that.

@Hoppah Someone's already suggested his possible homosexuality and, being as I probably know him best, that's not the case. Just, kinda helps reading the topic back a bit and not being funny with mildly amusing huge homosexual pictures. If I just talk to him I think I'll push him away for ever.
