  1. State Troopers are the police force that falls under the state of Montana (in this mod), or whatever state.  Their main focus tends to be highway enforcement and cross-county incidents.  They have jurisdiction throughout the state.

I'm not sure as to the difference between county sheriff and county police, as we've only got sheriffs here, but they are police.  It might just be a skinning error.

  2. Might be the rural EMSer in me, but this sounds like a terrible idea.  Seven miles is nothing, regardless of traffic status.  Providing that the engine was paramedic-staffed, as stated in the article, meds could have been administered to correct the seizure, and then the child would not have been in an imminently life-threatening situation.  Then, transport could have been delayed until the medic unit arrived.  Transport in a medic unit would have allowed for transport in a position of comfort greater than available in an engine, as well as more advanced techniques to be performed.

  3. This game still exists.  Come checks us out at forum.ertrpg.com.  If you're looking for a fun roleplay, come see us!  We've got positions open in Fire, EMS, and Police!

  4. It's public domain unless its an encrypted channel.  Here, EMS is on encrypted channels and you have to have Palmetto 800 radios to be able to listen.  Fire, however, is not encrypted and anyone with a scanner can listen in.  For instance, the news guy covering this county has a scanner.  So does my granddad, who's a former firefighter.  I don't see anything wrong with listening in so long as the information isn't being used for criminal purposes.

  5. The definition of a sheriff's department can vary, for example, here in South Carolina, a sheriff is the director of a county-wide law enforcement agency.  A municipal agency cannot be a "sheriff's office" or a "sheriff's department".  I'm not familiar with how it works anywhere else, but here, the sheriff's deputies have full authority throughout the county, but are simply less present in municipal areas that have their own law enforcement agency.  But, that is specifically South Carolina.  I'm not familiar with public safety law anywhere else, so I can't provide examples from anywhere else.

  6. Article 3 of the Montevideo Convention in no way disputes the ATS.  The ATS very clearly states that no nation may claim land in Antarctica after 1961, and since you are now claiming the land in 2013, it's against international law.  Regardless of whether or not you owned the land previously, you did not claim it as a separate country.

  7. Due to unfortunate circumstances, namely school, this mod is on hold for the foreseeable future, as I am ceasing all modding with the exception of perhaps some contests such as the skinning contest and design contests for mods.  It is highly likely that I will not be returning to this mod.  For those of you who watched and waited for a release, I am sorry.  If anyone is interested in continuing my work, I am more than happy to give them the files I have and provide local knowledge.  Just shoot me a PM or add me on skype at emerick.stone.

--ARS 157 clear at 1229 hours.

  8. I've got one.

You're an officer on duty but unavailable. You're eating lunch at a coffee shop when 5 armed men burst in with rifles. You're armed but with a 9mm pistol. There's an unlikely chance of you beating them. You could call for backup but the armed robbers aren't letting anyone call 911 so you're almost screwed for using your radio. What do you do?

Press my man-down button and immediately turn the radio off.  Try to get behind a counter and then yell "Everyone on the ground!" (for the civvies, not the gunmen), and open fire.
