  1. I think that it will probably be pretty self explanatory with the exception of technical rescues.

    Engines: hoses and water.

Ladder Trucks: ladders, saws, extrication equipment.

Squads: Capable of operating as an engine, truck, or light rescue co. Also have Hazmat capability.

Rescue Co: have just about every tool out there, but no water.

Hazmat: hazmat suits, meters, decon, etc.

There are going to be 12 tutorial stages. They are doing this so that we have a chance to familiarize ourselves with the various companies and how they work. Let's face it. There is going to be reudundancy. Squad 18 or 10 Truck can cut up a car just as easily as Rescue 1 can. If they are closer, then they get the job.

What I am looking forward to seeing is whether I will need all of the manpower and apparatus that FDNY gets on a 10-75 (working fire). Will I be calling for a second often? Will I be using the special companies on the fireground? A second alarm fire seems like a huge amount of firefighters and apparatus for one player to manage. Will I be using all 6 members of my Rescue or Squad companies? Will there be lots of rescues to be made? Hopefully, we'll be getting these answers sooner than later.

  2. The people that know what is in the media package are those creating it.

I'm not looking forward to it coming out, because we are gonna end up with another 50 pages of already asked questions, and the response of DON'T ASK QUESTIONS! Banhammer 4 laughs! etc etc.

    ...

I think it would be best if they just kept everything a secret up until release now.

We have had snippets of bits for 2 years, and just little amounts drives the forum crazy, i think it would save alot of hassle if they just kept everything to themselves.

It hasnt been perfect, but its worked for the last two years for them.

I'm hoping that they drop the media package a week or so before the release. Kinda like a movie trailer. That would help avoid potential problems......

  3. Dyson, a suggestion, if I may:

The map size in EM4/911:Fr seems far too small of an area to actually have three fire stations, assuming it is based on real distances. Perhaps one fire station would suffice, but with the option for the BC or captain to call additional equipment from across the map?

For example: the fire station houses an engine, a ladder, battalion chief, and maybe some sort of EMS vehicle (an ESU unit or ambulance or something). Instead of having another fire station with a rescue, an engine, haz-mat, squad, truck etc, change the "call engine", "Call light force" commands, etc, to "Call 10-75" (4 Engines, 2 Ladders, 2 BC, Rescue, Squad, RIT/FAST Truck), "Call 10-76" (Hi Rise Fire, 5 engines, 5 ladders, 4 battalion chiefs, 1 deputy, 1 rescue, Mask Service Unit, Hi-Rise Unit, Field Comm Unit, a Squad, a Tactical Support unit, a RAC unit, the Special Operations battalion chief, the Safety Operating battalion chief, a safety officer, and a lobby control unit.), "Call 10-77" (Hi Rise Residential Alarm, 5 engines, 5 ladders, 3 battalion chiefs, 1 deputy, 1 rescue, 1 squad, the Special Operations battalion chief, a safety officer, Field Comm unit, and the Safety Operating battalion chief.), "Call 10-41" (Arson), 10-80 (Hazmat), and so forth. You could still include other engines in trucks in the game, and those commands would call certain pieces of apparatus from off the map, but that would reduce firehouses and make it more realistic, IMO.

Also, here is a list of FDNY 10-codes for your reading pleasure: http://www.thebravest.com/fdny/FDNY10Codes.htm

That's a pretty good idea. I would be ok with the 10-75 button, and a button to call an extra alarm, as well as individual units. The FAST trucks and TSU, high rise units, lobby control units really don't have any real use in this game in its current form.

  4. From left to right:

Engine 10 = Line where you see what truck your FF belongs to

Firefighter = Occupation of the person selected

Health Status = Condition of your unit

SCBA Status = Just displayed when FF wears SCBA / recently showing in "PSI" instead of "perfect"

Fire Symbol = click on opens the submenu with the equipment which is needful for firefighting, e.g. the different hosetypes, fire extinguisher, etc.

Gear Wheel Symbol = click on it opens submenu with everything needful for technical rescues, e.g. hurst tool, high pressure bags, etc

SCBA symbol = put on - take off bottle

Mask symbol = put on - take off mask (you just loose air when your unit is wearing the mask)

Radio = Nothing important for a normal firefighter anymore, just in Lt. command bar now

    Very cool update. Thanks!

  5. Assessment Engine is just the opposite..well sorta. LA used to have ALS Engines like you see in the stock LA Mod. However, if memory serves me right, they just did not have as many guys completing paramedic certification so it was getting hard to staff ALS Engines with 2 medics. Budget may have been a factor to but I can't recall for sure. I imagine Billy will be along soon enough to correct me if either of those are wrong. With that said, the ALS Engines became Paramedic Assessment Engines, or Assessment Engines. The only change I am aware of, is instead of 2 Medics, it is just one medic.

    Gotcha. Thanks.

For any one testing the release, Alpha 2 has been posted. You know where to find it. ;)

To everyone else, we are doing alhpa testing atm to experiment some things. We should be moving into beta testing some time latter this week or week end.

    Great!

  6. You know I had thought about applying just that, have an engineer who runs to the pump panel when you hit rapid deploy and maybe have the captain just stand by the passenger side door, but for the game of game play, I am not sure how I feel about sacrificing 2 ffs much less one. Not to mention how others would feel about it.

I kinda like it the way that it is now. The reason being "realistic" doesn't really work in this mod. In my department, two guys would be on a hoseline, with an officer supervising. He may carry a tool and vent. If we have to make a long stretch, then he may act as a backup while the backup guy chases kinks. Most of the time a backup isn't needed. I like putting 4 hoselines on the fire, especially if I have an arsonist that the cops are having a hard time nabbing. Any officer worth a damned isn't standing by the rig while his guys are fighting fire. He may actually be the first one inside. Hey just a quick question from an east coast guy. What is an assessment engine? BLS?

  7. It's not the creators that have hyped up the mod, it is all the people commenting on it like you who have built it up to the 175 pages of speculation and complaining it is at today. If you have so called 'waited patiently for two and a half years' then I'm sure you will have no problem waiting another two and a half years should it take that long.

    Thanks

Again, I think that you are missing the point. If there was more info, then there wouldn't be any complaints. We are all pulling for this mod. We want it to succeed and to be great. Apparently, there are a ton of new features that are going to really enhance this game. That's great. We all feel good about what we are hearing. Those of us who do this for a living appreciate what they are trying to do. However, they could be less secretive. It would make it easier on themselves, and people wouldn't have to wade through 175 pages only to find out that the game is 2 years away. The only reason why people come here and post is because they want info due to the secrecy and hype. Personally, if Brooklyn or QRA comes out first, then I'll play those. It's no big deal. Just don't act like we created this hype. We didn't start this thread. Also, in another 2.5 years will anyone be still playing EM4?

  8. when we say we cant give a percentage then we cant... i told here whats the current progress and i told to get more for you soon, get over it guys, this is just a GAME!

It is just a game. Trust me when I say that my life will not change one way or the other if this mod is released. That said, I really don't see how you guys can get upset at the community. We have waited patiently for 2.5 years. You guys have hyped this mod up to be the best thing ever, and when the fans ask for an update you guys get angry. If you don't want angry fans, don't hype it up. Very simple.

  9. Just grow up and stop being so impatient. Find something else to bide your time. Surely your whole life does not revolve around this mod? :/

A percentage won't make the mod come any quicker. It won't allow you to "prepare" for the mod's arrival, because there's no preparation to do. No matter how much you scream and beg and whine and argue, the mod will not be complete until it is complete.. you might as well sit back, instead of arguing for a pointless argument.

I think that after 2.5 years, nobody in this community is out of line asking about a percentage of completion. In fact, IMO, it would give these guys a whole lot more breathing room. If they came out and said 70 percent, and asked for patience. Pretty much everyone here would go about their business without a complaint. If they said 40 percent. Most would move on to other mods, and they would be able to work in peace. It is the unknown that stirs this community up. There's an easy fix.

They are going to release the media package sometime soon. That should be cool. But what does that really mean if the game is whole year away? A little information goes a long way.....

  10. Thanks to all, we are going to show you something new soon... be patient. I know its hard to hear that again, but we cant change it.

We cant tell you a percentage of the mod because we arent able to do that even if we would want that! The whole mod is a big construction site, we have to script our own "base" from scratch up while other mods have this base in case of the working EM4 freeplay system and just have to add their own scripts and vehicles to that "base". But we explain that more precisely soon.

Only thing i can tell you at the moment is on what we are currently working on. Beside the big scripting part we finished the work on the map textures and a half of the first map with build on the enviroment and the editor work (main part shadylasse, silverhawk and myself are working on at the moment, "soon" to be finished completely).

Our cars and trucks are completely finished, persons too. Currently building, mapping and skinning the remaining buildings (still some intense work). Also working on much more but this were the most important parts for you to know. It still takes a "good while" to produce the modification but this was for you to see what we are currently doing when theres time for and what the status at the beginning of '11 is.

Also I've started with creating the media package.

    Have a nice day ;)

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to hearing more.

  11. Awww...don't be like that :holdglass: . I think they said they were going to release it this year so all your new years dreams will finally come true! :grinsevil: Great job guys.......I still will have to get used to the fact that the fires will take about 15 minutes or more putting it out but Imma follow the FDNY apparatus system or whatever its called...Can't wait.

Where did you see that about the fires?
