  1. Just 1 question. If I wanted to play where the tower ladders and ladder trucks had to be hooked up to an engine, would this work? I know that it was kinda buggy in the last version. If not, no big deal. Looking forward to playing this version.
  2. The mod looks awesome! To me this sets the standard for mods. When I think of where this game is going, and Emergency 5, anything less than this type of realism going forward should be considered a disappointment. If the developers had some sense, they would hire you dudes to do this mod or Brooklyn, or whatever for the EM5 release. Anyway, just one man's opinion. Nice job! Can't wait to play it.
  3. Take your time fellas. We can wait. Hope everything is ok.....
  4. Been quiet for a while. How are things coming along fellas?
  5. Well it will be interesting to see how well this game sells. I hope that it does well. Without actually playing the game, it's hard to pass judgement. But I haven't seen anything on the youtube streams that makes me want to spend my money......yet. Again, as an American firefighter, we do things differently than Europeans do. Interior firefighting is prevalent here. It seems strange to me that this game has "progressed" over the years, but things like climbable ladders, breakable windows, interior search and rescue, smoked up rooms, forcible entry, etc have not been added. Again, it is very early, but when I heard that this game was coming out with a new version, I felt that a new game engine would begin to employ some of these things. My question is how has this series actually progressed? Raf and Dyson have added roof ventilation and PASS devices. They have added interior firefighting. You would think that these enhancements would have been added by the developer in this version. Fire on the 4th floor? We need an aerial ladder to access the floor to rescue trapped victims. This job is so much more that just pulling up and squirting water out of a hose.... The bottom line is that I want to play how I would do things in real life. I want to think and use real world tactics. I would like real world situations and scenerios. So far, all that I have seen is a better looking version of the same old game. Where are the improvements?
  6. I know that none of my friends will play a German based firefighting game. New York, or Boston, or LA would get half of them to play. But it would have to be a vast upgrade from what we have now. The game would have to have a good multiplayer basis, and represent real tactics and equipment. Really, one cannot just do a NY mod. They would have to do a prominent west coast city as well because the tactics are very different. I'm not bashing the developers, but am merely wondering aloud why the US market has been consistently ignored? Like I said, if not for Hoppah and Dyson and Raf and crew, I would never have spent any money on this game. I never bought 2012. Why? No modding....... Hopefully, Brooklyn comes out soon to keep me interested. Also Emergenyc is coming out within the next year or so. But realistically speaking, who wants to wait a year or two for the same game with just a graphics upgrade?
  7. Well perhaps it is the chicken vs egg story. What comes first? Do you ignore the US market and wonder why the sales are flat, or do you include the US market and push for more sales? Just my opinion. I think that because the American market has been basically ignored, the sales are flat. But the American mods such as LA and The NY mods are the only reason that I bought the game. Until Brooklyn or Boston or such shows up, I'll hold my $$$...
  8. The one thing that I don't understand is why they didn't build or contract to build an American version of this game to be shipped at release? A Boston, FDNY, Chicago, or Los Angeles version would have been a huge hit here in the US. I have zero desire to play the German version. This means that I have to hope and wait for some team to build a map of a city that I am interested in playing. If I was the developement team, I would have anticipated this and would have sold a US version right out of the gate. The US city mods have been very popular. Why not build them into the game? Then modders could tweak the maps and apparatus as they saw fit....
  9. I finally got this game down to a playable level. I really like this version. It is the best version so far........One thing is that the organic game uses a lot of resources. I went into the editor and eliminated a lot of small objects and things that bogged my PC down. The camera hack wasn't working for me until I pared this game back. Every now and then, I get a CTD, but that is because this game uses a lot of memory. FWIW, I play Arma 3 with teamspeak running, and my pc runs that better than this game. Nice job with this mod though. It's a lot of fun.
  10. I've had a chance to play for a bit, and this mod is fun. The only issue I have is my camera jumping around in camera hack. This game is using a lot of resources, to the point where I am playing with everything turned down to low, or off. My FPS is ok, I notice that the camera hack goes silly when my PC uses a lot of resources...... Can anyone direct me on how to get into the editor on windows 8.1? I'd like to try to pare this mod down a bit so that It will run better on my PC. But this version is the most fun IMO.....
  11. I think when I load freeplay, it loads as challenge automatically. I play FDNY/EMS only. Do I need to play the PD missions for it to work?
  12. I keep having an issue where I fail the challenge missions. I'll have all my calls cleared, and I'll get a call for an injured person. The person is impossible to find. The next call that comes in is an exploded gas pipe. Before I can even look at the map, the game ends. Is there a fix for this? I am playing 3.05c.....
  13. I may be in the minority, but I'd like to see the updates and optimization on the Manhattan mod before or at least at the same time as Brooklyn. I just got a new PC with a decent graphics set up, but I am gettting terrible FPS on this mod. I would love to see the tall buildings go to a ghost pattern rather than the current set up. It's just too hard to try to see into th ground floor of the high rise buildings....also the firehouses shouldn't be at the very end of the map. Moving them in a block would make life easier.....and keep the buildings in front of them to 1 or 2 stories or ghost them please...... It's probably asking a lot, but I'd like 2 seperate but equal mods. Just different maps. I'm psyched for Brooklyn. But I think that Manhattan needs to be brought up to speed before you guys move on. Just my opinion.....
  14. I have that other game. There are elements of it that are very fun. A freeplay version would be great. Who said anything about wanting a simulator? I just want realistic real time strategy. This series is just too easy. Even on the toughest levels. To me, firefighting is more than just pulling up and flowing water. There is no real strategy to this game. Implementing some of what we actually do, will make this game harder, and IMO that equals more fun to play. Do I want to have to walk the water out of the hose or strip a burnt out room down to the studs? No. Should I have to secure a water source and hit the seat of the fire? Absolutely. I believe that this game would be an outstanding mutiplayer game if done right. I have been playing some Arma III, and the teamwork aspect of that game is outstanding. I would like to see an evolved version, not just a new version of the same old thing.
  15. To be honest, it would take a whole new approach to get me really interested in a new version. I'm looking for more than handling calls. From a map perspective, I would like most buildings to be interactive. That means stairs, different levels. Enterable balconies, roofs, windows operable doors, etc. I would like different and more realistic fire mechanics with smoke. The firefighting aspect should involve more than just squirting water. Things like ventilation should come into play. If the fire is in a third floor apartment, you should have to force entry, ventilate, search, etc while also locating and extinguishing the fire. Engines should need to hook up to hydrants. Towers should need to have an engine supplying them if they are going to flow water. There should be hoselines. Weather should be a factor. Wind should be a factor. Time of day should be a factor. Buildings should collapse if they burn for long times. They should at least deteriorate under normal fire conditions. Also, I would like the ability to choose the type of missions that I play. For me it would be fire only. Customizable weather is also a must. This game has become routine for me. I want a real American city firefighting game. Guys like Dyson and Rafael have tried to work with the older version to turn it into something close. IMO, they have done a very commendable job. But obviously, the game itself will not allow for many of these things. Why not build these things into a newer version? Why not factory build an FDNY version with these features? Then the community can mod it for Chicago or LA or Boston or whatever. New York would be a great city for a huge multiplayer map. LA or Chicago, Boston or any other major city would be cool. I would like to control a single unit and its crew. The idea is that the map is fully controlled by humans. So the EMS, cops, etc would be fully controlled by someone who wanted to play as them. The various units would operate according to SOPs to solve whatever situation has arisen. It's amazing to me that we have World of Warcraft and other huge games, but we don't have a large multiplayer emergency simulation. This is what I would like to see in the next version.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I appreciate how much time and effort you guys have put into this mod. Is it safe to say that if my computer has run the previous versions, then this version will run too? Also, are you still doing a version based on Woods maps?
  17. Great videos. Looking forward to version 3. I have a few suggestions of some minor changes that I would like to see in this version. First, would it be possible to start the game with all of the apparatus in station? It's kinda a PIA having to staff all of the stations at the beginning of each game. Also, could you add an ems bag to every unit? I believe that every engine and truck carries at least a bls bag. Is it at all possible to change the ratio of ems calls to real fires? It gets very boring playing for 2 hours and doing nothing but tending to injured people and heart attacks. I would like mostly fires. Also big, challenging fires where I have to use lots of apparatus. I'm a deck gun and tower ladder guy for most building fires. Older versions had decent fire spread. The latest version lacked that. I would like to see that return. Also, I would like the ability to interchange Rescue 1 and Squad 18 in their quarters. If my city is really burning, I like the squad because it has water and hoses. Again, in the latest version they saw limited use because I gave my ladder trucks a saw and a set of jaws. But if my city was really roastin, they would see more action. Anyway, great work. Looking forward to playing it.
  18. The only downfall for me, regarding this mod, was that it was entirely too easy. There were a few incidents like the gas explosion in the building under construction that really challenged me. But overall, 1 engine could handle almost anything. I played the LA Mod 4x4 version the other day, and found that the fire spread rates in that game were awesome. A bomb would explode, or an arsonist would burn down half my city. Great stuff that really challenged me. You guys have put a lot of time and effort into this project. If I had to give out suggestions, I would say simplify. Release an edited version of what is current. Bump up the fires in both burn time, frequency, and fire spread. I tried to bump up my building burn time, and it just didn't work. I just am not getting the 20-30 min big burners that I like. And they don't spread. Part of the fun of this game was that you had to get ahead of a fire or an arsonist or whatever. I don't have to do that now. In fact, I rarely have more than 1 fire burning at a time. And they are followed by 20 ems calls.... This is no way meant to criticize you guys. You've done a great job. Just that fixing these things may bring guys like me back into the everyday fold.
  19. Looking good man. Hey thanks for the info about the buildings. Do you know what your settings are now? I have it at 3000, but am not getting any fires. I cant remember what the default setting was....
