  1. That is only the case if you build a cheap PC (i.e $400). You can build a top of the line system for around $2,500 USD (no peripherals). Tell me where I can get a top of the line system for $2,500. If you build it yourself, you get to choose exactly what you want.
  2. Here's what you do. In the mods folder, take your modded LD mod and move the folder to the desktop or something. Now install a fresh copy or the LA mod. Move the unmodded LA mod out and put your modded LA mod back in the mods folder. Keep the unchanged LA mod somewhere and use it for backup. Just copy and paste the files you want to recover. This way you have a fresh copy of the La mod ready for backup.
  3. Consider building it yourself. Building it yourself is very cost effective. I just build the computer in my signature (minus headset, keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers) for around $875 USD.
  4. MikesPhotos has said that there is a vehicle very close to what is being suggested. I believe it is an SUV with the LA County Health Department or something. Poke around mikesphotos.us, I know I've see the SUV on there.
  5. We have the paramedic skin from 1.4 and the prototypes ready to go, the problem is in the scripts. The stabilize script specificly refers to the LAFD/EMT stretcher team prototype. Since the prototype is different for our AMR personnel, the script doesen't work at this time. We have also been having trouble with the lift script.
  6. Too bad MikesPhotos hasn't been around lately. He could really help with this map.
  7. How about making two versions of the map? One for better computers and one for not as good computers.
  8. Didn't Mikesphotos say that the LA river is barely a trickle during most of the year?
  9. We are having some trouble with the scripts for the AMR units. The skins and models are done but the lift script and the stabilize script are giving us problems.
  10. Same here. I can't justify spending $500 on a console just to play games. Granted I just spent $800 on a new PC, but you can use it for much much more than gaming. Besides, I can't stand playing games with a gamepad, (Madden NFL is the exception) much less FPS's with a gamepad. I don't mind joysticks though.
  11. I see now. You have to define it at the beginning of the script.
  12. How fast is your internet then? My DSL runs at around 2.2/2.4 Mbps.
  13. How do you make commands? I understand that you need a script and a icon, but how do you link the script to the icon?
  14. Building a computer is much, much cheaper. For around $2500 you can build a top of the line system that costs upward of $4500 from Alienware. My budget is $800 dollars. For $800 dollars I'm building a pretty good system. Core 2 Quad Q9400 (I plan to overclock it from 2.66 GHz to around 3.4-3.6 GHz) - $239.99 ASUS P5Q motherboard - $118.99 Antec 300 case - $64.95 EVGA 9800 GTX+ Superclocked - $164.99 before $20 rebate 4GB of OCZ Reaper RAM - $65.99 before $20 rebate 250 GB HDD - $54.99 SATA DVD burner - $21.99 CPU cooler (needed for overclocking) - $36.99 3 blue LED case fans - $19.47 Assorted adaptor/extender cables - $13.15 Shipping - $15.70 Total - $777.20 You may notice I didn't include an OS. I plan to use windows 7 beta and save the money that would of been spent on Vista and save it for when Windows 7 comes out in the third quarter of this year. EDIT: Damn that's cheaper then it was yesterday. I might throw in another HDD and run it in RAID 1.
  15. The only 10,000 RPM consumer HDD are like twice the price of the 7200 RPM ones.
  16. Newfoundking is wrong. Any "LA equipment" uses a script. You ever notice that the vehicles don't glow blue when you tell someone to get a MP5? Anyways, editing the unit.xml has no effect on the equipment that the vehicle carries. All it does is show what equipment the vehicle carries on the buy unit screen. To change EM4 equipment you have to go through the editor.
  17. Here's the link. It's a 3.15 GB download so it's going to take a while. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7...a-download.aspx
  18. Well, I've decided to get a Core 2 Quad Q9400 and a EVGA 9800 GTX+ Superclocked (only getting the SC edition becuase its $10 cheaper currently then the regular GTX+)
  19. Just install it along with your regular OS.
  20. So I can just skip Vista and go straight to 7? It'll save me $90 which I can put towards Windows 7 when it comes out.
  21. The beta is. Windows 7 is supposed to be released in Q3 of this year.
