I'll create a tutorial for this later in the day if you want and post on Youtube. I think a few people have been having problems with this.

I'm able to do this with a different .TGA map but for some weird reason I'm having major issues with the map21 free play.tga,

Step 1 edit in gimp

Step 2 export as TGA not compressed ( bottom left center) I think?

Step 3 copy and paste into maps folder

Step 4 load editor/ load map/

Step 5 go into terrain / floor/ import texture

Step 6 asks to save texture.

Error message cannot upload texture.

I tried to load the texture and it said fail to load

We have the same problems, I would suggest when you are exporting using Paint.net it gives more options then Gimp does, uncompressed 24bit try it again

I made a whole tutorial but accidentally deleted it... I'll give a small one then see if you can figure it out. I'll try doing Gimp tomorrow since I don't have it right now

 

1. Edit in your program. Do not make the background transparent, only the text. To make it transparent edit the fill and opacity of the text (Or either or technically) to 60% or less. Make sure the text is under a new layer

 

 

60% isn't that transparent be warned.

2. Save as a Targa file with lower extension (.tga) and 24 bits/pixel

3. Make a folder in your maps folder called something like "test"

4. Leave your Targa file elsewhere from your EM4 files, like your desktop

 

5. Go to EM4 Editor, load your modification

 

6. Push F2 or go to Terrain

7. Hover over Floor, then go to import texture

8. Find your texture that you have on your desktop

 

9. Save the floor texture inside the test folder, name it freeplay or or mission etc.

10. Wait for conversion

Sounds good and after you import the texture and save it are you saving it has a .eft to start the conversion process

You just have to type the name of the file without an extension. It adds the .eft extension after it's done converting. 

 

If you don't type a name, it'll look like this

Hey whats up looking to edit EM4 map mission 20. My question is I cannot figure out how to fix the streets or replace them in the editor. Mission 20 is the Big One map. SO far I have been able to remove and add objects and fix the terrain. I did read your post so i figured you can help with this. Do I have to down load a converter for the EFT file to open it. Also Can you fix the textures in the like clacked streets excreta? privet Mod WIP.
